150 Last Whisper of Goodbye

As the conductor of the orchestra held up his baton into the air, the melancholic and soulful Canon In Dy by Pachelbel flowed out beautifully into the background.

Jia walked gracefully down the aisle, her every steps forwarded along with the tempo of the music. Her strapless, pale -brown and A - Line satin dress, cascaded beautifully from the small of her waist down to her ankles. Her lower abdomen still looked slightly - protruded at sixteen gestational weeks due to the wide and perfect curve of her hips.

With a bigger bouquet of mixed peonies, tulips and roses than the rest of the ladies, she looked so stunningly beautiful as she marched alone, being the groom's maid of honor.

Koko looked at her beautiful Anna tearfully. Who would have thought that in separate ways they could step into a world so different from the beautiful haven of the green and foggy hills? Who would have thought that his dreams for both of them would come true , and that they would be lifted out from the life of poverty and hardship?

All the while he was in USA, he sent her greeting cards and letters but all those were unreplied. Perhaps, she couldn't just afford the mailing charge so he sent return stamps. But still, not even one was returned. He wanted to tell her what kind of life he was having then. He wanted to share with her all his joys and achievements. He even dreamed that once he would be able to stand independently, he would return to the place and fulfill his promise. All throughout his life overseas, he had not met a girl as good as her . He had not met a friend who was as loyal as her.

When, finally, they were able to move back to the Philippines, he returned to their place, initially, to take her as his bride. If she was not successful yet, he would let her have his dreams.All he had and everything he acquired, would, also, be hers. No one held more unforgettable memories in his heart other than her. No one else held importance and value in his heart, aside from his family. But they were not there anymore.

He returned to Palawan and got his job in the research lab. It was when he met Hailey. They started as colleagues then became close friends. The friendship deepened and was founded by acceptance and loyalty. The kind of loyalty Jia had given him.

She even risked her life for him in countless times in going out into the core of the forest to personally gather their research samples. She wanted him to achieve the success he always had dreamed of, to become recognized by the world. Hailey's Pill was not totally his ideas and discoveries, but hers. But she wanted him to get all the credits. His success and the actualization of his dreams was her own happiness.

It was when he gave up on his search for Jia. He already found another true friend. All his efforts then was poured out into the success of the research.

The selfless trait of Hailey, her loyalty as a friend and her dedication to their project made him, eventually, fall for her.

On that day after their wedding, which was attended by only few people, was the harvest time of their rare plant species grown within the forest soil. Those plants were the source of those still undiscovered powerful antioxidants and enzymes that were the components of Hailey's Pill.

According to their studies at that time, those plants would not thrive outside the forest soil. Though some of it survived, it did not yield the same potency of those enzymes like those which were planted inside the forest soil.

On that day, PAG-ASA forecasted a very rare typhoon occurence that would hit Palawan provinces on the next three days. Palawan has only two seasons, the dry and the wet seasons and occurences of typhoon is rarely heard of.

Overpowered by the fear that their plantation would be destroyed, Hailey set out to the forest for the harvest with their farmers. She could not risk the crumbling of his dream if those plants would be destroyed. They had put their lives at stake on it.

Warned by Aijohn of the dangers of going there, Hailey was strong - willed.

Mr. & Mrs. Ybañez, their wedding's honored guest, would like to meet him that day so he couldn't go with her. He, also, couldn't refuse to meet the Ybañez couple out of his great respect for them. Aside from that, they wanted to leave soon before the flights would be suspended. They, also, could not miss out another important meeting in Cebu that would take place later in the night.

Soon, the company's trusted farmers carefully harvested the plants and piled it into their truck under the supervision of Hailey. They had to do it fast before the typhoon would ruthlessly destroy the token of their dangerous efforts.

Finally, before the dark set in, all the plants were safely tucked into the back of the truck. The rain was getting heavier and the muddy road that trailed to the entrance of the forest became too slippery. As the driver hurriedly pulled out, afraid that they would be entrapped in the wilds that night, he blindly drove against the heavy outpour of rain and strong slaps of wind into the windshield.

All of a sudden, the vehicle lost its brake as they were running down a slope in a hill. The road was muddy and slippery and their truck was overloaded. Their was a cliff on one side, and as the driver panicked and lost his control, the truck overturned and rolled down the cliff..

Such was the grief of the man who became a husband in just one day. Worst of all, the search was delayed due to the onset of the typhoon. Hailey's body was no longer found. Some believed that she was taken by the wild animals in the forest.

Palawan's rainforest was home to lots of wild animals and of hundreds of endangered species who may have smelled of their blood. Such speculation was valid and couldn't be disregarded.

Aijohn almost gave up on his dream.

He even wanted to give up on his life, if not for the strong moral and emotional support of his family and his second family in the research lab. He thought he wouln't be able to forget and overcome.

Standing by the altar watching his bestfriend marching down the aisle as his maid of honor, his tears fell down. He brushed it away but another set would fall. His heart was heavy and his emotion was a conflict mix of joy and sadness as he recalled Hailey. Right at that moment, he must whisper his last goodbye to her. He would now be tied within the bonds of matrimony to another woman who made his heart beat again.
