149 Another Chapter To Live
The great storm had passed by. The promised rainbow and that calm after the storm was , finally, the return of the peace in their lives.
Though, ate Nita moved to her children's home to take care of Arvin, she still came to Jia's house everyday. She couldn't live a day without Jian. Most especially, now, that they were expecting Little Jianna.
Just as Jim wished, Jia's week of gestation could be counted back to the date of their honeymoon in El Nido. Jim was the happiest, Jianna was his own flesh and blood.
Jim would have wanted to extend another room for her coming princess but dismissed the plan in the end since they would be moving soon to their new home in Jian's Garden.
With the absence of ate Nita, Jia would have wanted her parents to stay with them but they refused. They never liked the city life, the noise and it's pollution. Their home would forever be in the comfort of the splendid nature, the magnificent hills and the pure, cold breeze.
With Mr. Wayne's sickness, Jim took over in running the business. He travelled every now and then but made it sure that Jia was with him. They learned the complicated task of running the hospitals together.
To gain more knowledge and skill about business management, Jia enrolled in business management and took few units per semester. Jim took up online course as well.
She had to divide her time between a wife and mother and as a business builder. Not only that, Mr. Wayne stayed with them. Before he was discharged, they had extended another room for him.
Anthon sent men over to work on the new room. He would just come once in a while to check on them. He was now focusing on the full development of Jian's garden. Now that their lives return to its peace, he lost an alibi to see Jia often. He just cherished those few moments when he came over to their house to fetch his son.
Kuya Nap was, likewise, doing well as both a lawyer and business manager. House and lot reservations was almost full due to his effective marketing strategies and his leadership skills. Gee's Cafe shops were doing well and he was already slowly introducing Jia to its management.
One lunch time, Jim came over to kuya Nap's office.
"Kuya, think of another business that
I can give to you. " Jim said sincerely.
Kuya Nap got dumbfounded. He was already generously paid by Jim in running his businesses. He even felt that his compensation was far bigger than his responsibility. Instead of thinking for another business venture and getting back to the task of learning everything again, he suggested for another real estate business for him.
In that way, he would be saved from the burden of getting back from the start. Learning and faring on a business was not easy. Though every business endeavour is a gamble, it would be much better if the outcome is predictable.
When Mr. Wayne was discharge, his weakness was still bad. He was still on a nasogastric tube feeding. He couldn't even tolerate yet a trial oral feeding of gelatin. Three shifts of private nurses were hired to take care of him. Physical and Occupational Therapist came in daily for his rehabilitation sessions.
Jia would come to his bedside daily and talk to him. She even personally administered through NGT that Hailey's pill Aijohn gave them. Everyday, she reminded him that the pill she was giving was her bestfriend's discovery for ailing people's faster recovery. The pill was a very potent immune booster which also contained undiscovered powerful antioxidants and plant enzymes which could activate a rapid cell repair and regeneration.
"Dad, this again is the Hailey's pill. Beyond its amazing capacity to induce faster healing and recovery must be your own will to live and restore your health. Dad, if you do this, you will be able to return to your post in running the business."
Jia would instill this in his mind three times daily before giving the pill.
She also walked him through his wheelchair to their garden daily and encouraged him to think positively. She would let him look into the skies, the trees and the beautiful flowers and told him how wonderful it was to live. She reminded him how powerful was a human brain. If he could stabilize his will and determination to live , then he could. What the mind could conceive, the body could achieve.
True to her words, Mr. Wayne. showed drastic improvements. His NGT was first removed. His slurred speech rapidly became comprehensible until it finally returned to normal.
The return of his gait followed. In less than a week, he could now eat and sit by himself. His weak leg could now feel a strong sensation and he could now move it up.
Jia talked to him like he had not done her any wrong. Her daily motivation inspired him to get well soon and return to his normal health status.
One day, while she walked him to a park, he couldn't hold his guilt anymore.
"Jia, can you please forgive me?.. " The next words he had in mind stuck to his throat as his tears fell down.
Mr. Wayne was so amazed by her personality. No wonder her son fell madly in love with her. Her heart was bigger than his hatred and his desire to kill her. He talked to her affectionately as a friend, as a thoughtful daughter and as a spiritual adviser.
Jia smiled at him. "I don't keep a grudge, dad. I believe that God can change a person's heart no matter how evil one could be."
Witnessing this happy family everyday softened his heart. This was something his own family did not experience. His mind was consumed with obsession and hatred about a failure in the past. He existed like a robot, devoid of any emotion. He may had provided his son financially, but he grew up by the care of their servant. Somehow, he was thankful about that or else Jim would have grown up as an insensitive and heartless person like him.
Jian, his grandson, added a new meaning to his existence. He never knew how wonderful it was to have a grandson. The simple joy of a child, his shallow reasons for happiness, his gift of forgetfulness about an ill treatment were something money could not buy. He never understood this. He even wanted to kill him. He even did not think ahead of the possible emotional effect his trauma would cause him. But just like his mother, he seemed to have forgotten about it.
He was fortunate. He happened to have a good and forgiving son and good - natured daughter - in - law who did not take revenge on his wickedness. They treated him with utmost care and even motivated him to get well soon and live.
