135 See You There

Days passed by so swiftly and it was already Sunday. Today was the agreed engagement dinner, a special event that should have been looked forward by an excited couple.But this event was a doom for almost everyone involved, except for Mr. Wayne, who delighted on his glory ahead.

He still had not found Jia and her son. Jim had agreed to the engagement on the condition that he would give them back to him. Yet, no matter what he did, success eloped from him.

"Jim, I am reminding you for tonight's event. " It was an imperative statement, echoing on the line.

Jim was no longer annoyed. He would now put an end to his folly. Who ever said he could force him to do something he did not like? It was himself who stripped off the last respect he had on him. He hurt, not only him, but also the treasure of his life. Though he swore to keep this wickedness of him from the authority out of respect for him as a father, and that reporting him would only bring shame to him and his family, he had no choice this time. He would gather all the evidences of his evil deeds to bend down all his horns. What power could prevail from his mighty self - regard if he would end up in a dark, four - cornered cell? His heart ached at the thought, but he must learn his lesson. Tonight, his son who was willing to kneel down before him in great respect, would be the son to wheel him towards the cuffs and the room behind the metal bars.

"If you want to see your wife and your son alive, be there!" Mr. Wayne threatened him, not knowing that his kingdom was about to crumble down...Not knowing that he was talking like a parrot without understanding that everything was under Jim"s control this time.

"See you there. " He put a quick end to his craziness and shamelessness.

She slept for already long hours but still she couldn't sleep enough. Her bed beckoned her attractively to slip back into the covers and curl again. All of a sudden, she thought of something. There was really wrong with her. When she took few steps forward, she became dizzy and she threw up even before reaching the bathroom...

She picked up her phone and dialed someone's number. Few seconds later, a knock was heard at the door.

"Buy this, please, in a nearby pharmacy. " She said softly.

The woman nodded and immediately left. When she was back, she quickly sent her away and she went directly to the bathroom. She hurriedly opened the small pack that the woman bought her. Then, she placed few drops of her urine specimen into the rectangular strip. She held her breath for a while as she watched the strip....

"Dr. Jim, your father called us that the dinner will push through tonight. Are you coming over? " Madamme Ybañez spoke into the line nervously.

"I am. "Jim calmly replied.

Another call went through. Dr. Aijohn was measuring the height of his plants in the garden when his phone rang.

"Dr. Aijohn, please come tonight for Gracie's engagement dinner. The highlight of tonight's meeting would be the date of our launching so you need to be there."

True enough, the highlight would be the research launching. If it were not for it, this crazy wedding set up would not be pushed through.

Damn it, who would like to talk about the launching during that painful event? But he couldn't refuse out of respect. The Ybañez couple had supported and believed his capabilities even when everything was vague from the start. And he was obliged to be there...

"Sweetheart, I'll give you a call once the dinner will start." It was a reminder for Jia to stay online to see the event later.

"I will. " Jia said as threw her arms around his neck to kiss him before he opened the door to leave. Jim kissed her deeply as well, assuring her that she had nothing to worry. After tonight, there would no longer be such a thing called 'engagement' with Dr. Grace.

Anthon opened the door slowly as he heard a noise in the living room. Jim must have come down already. He was already long prepared and he was just waiting for him to come down. He stayed by the guest room across the living room all along . He couldn't go home either, as Mr. Wayne had gone so wild in searching for them. But he would accompany Jim as his back up tonight, together with Bryan. He would be wating outside the premises to rescue him if in case trouble would break in.

When he saw them kissing, he stepped back. It was such a disturbing sight! He only opened it again when he heard the sound of a closing door.

Jim was already inside the car when he came out. Jia was standing by the porch. He stopped for a while when he passed by her and she glanced up.

"Ton, thank you so much again. " She said sincerely as she held him by the arm. Her touch sent a warm sensation inside his heart, making it leap .

He smiled lightly as he patted her shoulder. "It's all for you, my dear."

The Ybañez couple arrived ahead being the host. Mr. Wayne followed. They sat around a long table filled with lovely floral centerpiece. While Mr. Wayne forced a conversation over a tensed atmosphere, his heart was filled with fear that Jim might not come. He kept on glancing towards the door.
