103 She Could Never Be Hailey

Back at the hotel where they stayed, everyone slumped off to their beds after dinner. They had a long, fantastic day out in the sun and the activities of the day drained out their energy.

After having changed into a new set of clothes and a fur jacket after a warm bath, Dr. Grace went out to the balcony again. Her mind was so troubled that she could not bring herself to sleep. She ordered a pot of chamomile tea with pure, organic honey as a sweetener.

Chamomile has been used as a natural remedy to reduce inflammation, decrease anxiety and treat insomnia. In fact, chamomile is commonly regarded as a mild tranquilizer or sleep inducer. It contains apigenin, a phytonutrient that binds to specific receptors in the brain that may decrease anxiety and initiate sleep.

While sipping into her cup, her mind went to Dr. Aijohn. She wondered if he was conscious when they did it last night. Though he gave her a very special attention the whole day, started her morning with fresh, red roses and sent her breakfast, he had not mention anything about last night.

A day with him changed a lot of her emotion. Perhaps because, she had never received such attention from a man before. Dr. Jim, though he had made her cry at nights, had never done her any special treatment. He was always avoiding her. She even followed him in Georgia but he never even asked where she stayed. He did not even mind to talk to her if not for her persistence to initiate even just a short conversation with him.

She was thrilled by his sweetness towards him. It felt really good and flattering to be treated that way. Perhaps because, Dr. Aijohn had an easy to love attributes. He won the hearts of his team and had been able to get their dedication to give their best and work hard for their greatest objective.

His treatment towards her the whole day gave thrill and excitement to his team. They were obviously happy for him. They had been teasing him around and even stayed away from them to give them privacy.

What happened to Hailey? Why was she lost? Those same bespokes...

These questions bothered her endlessly.

What slowly made her fear the most was her feelings right now towards him. She just couldn't take him off her mind. Love at first sight? She did not believe it but why did she felt that her heart was softening towards him?

If ever this was love -at -first -sight syndrome with an added component of lovemaking at first meeting, this would cause another pain and failure on her part.

The woman that Dr. Aijohn love was Hailey and she could never be her. Though he was drawn towards her because of their identical looks, she knew it would only be temporary.

She should end this folly before it would reach up to the point of hurting her.

Why were others fortunate enough except her? Look at Jia. She's just a poor woman from the slums but Jim was terribly blinded in love with her. And here's Hailey...Whether she was dead or wherever she was, Dr. Aijohn had been so crazily hooked up in love with her. Her shadow in someone else' persona was even loved by everyone.

"Hailey, can we talk? " His voice from her back startled her. And the name Hailey instantly became a knife that cut her heart.

She looked up to him with a pursed smile. His freshened look was so alluring even in a dim light. He wore a thick, black coat with an upturned collar that lined his jaw.

"Sit down." She said, gesturing him to take the seat across her.

"Hailey.. " Dr. Aijohn began to talk.

"Please stop it. As I said I could never be Hailey. If you know her enough, you will instantly know that I am not her. Even if we look alike."

"I'm sorry..." He apologized. "I was so overjoyed to see her again in you that all the pain I had endured was gone." He started to explain.

She did not reply but he went ahead.

"When I took you last night, I knew then that you were not her. When I first saw you at the dinner, I was hoping that she was you who changed into another personality as people with multiple personality disorder do."

She just stared at him, horrified with his statement. She also flinched up at his mention of 'took you last night'.

" Or that she may had gone through a post traumatic stress disorder that caused her an amnesia. That's why you can't remember. "

"Severe injuries and physical trauma can also cause post-traumatic stress disorder that can cause temporary memory loss to help a person cope wit the traumatic event that cause the injury. You know about that." He looked at her, emphasizing that as a doctor herself, an explanation was not needed."

"Of course. What happened to her?"

She was dying of curiousity.

"It was a long story, Gracie." For the first time, she called her by her right name.

"But before I will start telling you her story, I would like to tell you this

first." He looked at her and reached out to hold her hand.

"I got carried away last night because, as I said, I really thought that you were, indeed, Hailey. I was drunk and was not in my right mind though I remembered everything. I missed her so badly. In fact, I had come to the point of retreating from this research if not for the support of my team."

She felt her heart sank to the depths below sea level.

"Forgive me, Gracie, but I would like you to know that I am willing to take the responsibility. I want to start a new life again. With you, if you will accept me. "

Her heart suddenly became chaotic. She became tounge - tied. This was too astounding. Just because she looked like her?

"Marry me, Gracie. Before the proclamation of the research, I want the world to recognize you as well as my wife. "

" Let's give ourselves a chance to love again. With each other together and with time, you may be able to forget Dr. Jim and I with Hailey."

Grace could not almost hear him anymore. Her heart was beating so wildly now. She remained staring at him, even without blinking. He knew about her obsession with Dr. Jim?

"Think about this, Gracie. For now, go back to your room and get a good sleep. Tomorrow will be a beautiful day to start."
