47 Self-admiration

In fact, high grade holy animals were rarely seen at the edge of a forest, which was why Sunier had to go so far to search for them. Thus, direct conflicts between Treefolks and Iron Bulls were also rare. What guided their actions now were just pure intuition and instinct. Iron Bulls felt nervous when faced with Treefolks, for the latter ranked higher than the former. Treefolks dared not to move forward, because the Iron Bulls in front of them were in greater number. If there were only two or three Iron Bulls, the two Treefolks would, undoubtedly, have swaggered down from the hillside.

But now, seeing the blast of electric-blue torrent rushing toward them with an overwhelming momentum, the two Treefolks were almost scared out of their wits. They stretched out their arms and twisted their sticks like peacocks spreading their tails, intending to scare their enemies away. But Iron Bulls were the most stubborn holy animals in the world, and once irritated, nothing could stop their stampede aside from death.

The two Treefolks were a bit flustered when they saw their scare had failed. They kept waving their arms and moving back at an extremely slow paste. Soon, they were nearly caught by the leader of the Iron Bulls, whose sharp horns were pointing directly at one of the Treefolk.

Instead of doing nothing and waiting for its imminent doom, the Treefolk hit the Iron Bull with one of its claws, and wrapped the Bull into its countless branches. However, the force generated by an object that weighed thousands of pounds moving at extreme speed was so strong that the branches broke with a snap, and Iron Bull dashed out with its sharp horns, piercing the body of the Treefolk.

It fiercely trembled due to extreme pain, but managed to swing another claw at the Iron Bull at the same time. But the other Iron Bulls had also arrived, and heavily crashed into the Treefolk. Boom! Boom! The Treefolk swung violently like a lonesome boat in terrifying waves. It inserted its lower limbs deeply into the ground to stabilize itself. No matter how hard the Iron Bulls charged, they managed to only break a few roots of the Treefolk. It seemed to be impossible for the Iron Bulls to knock the Treefolk down or into the air.

A chaotic fight thus ensued between the Iron Bulls and the two Treefolks. Judging by their attacking capability, Treefolks were much weaker compared to the Bear of Earth. The Treefolks relied on their large amount of branches to trap and kill their opponents. However, Iron Bulls had extremely tough skin - they didn't fear thorns at all. Since they had lost their momentum, they couldn't move through the web of branches anymore. But if the Treefolk wanted to kill them with their branches alone, they would have better luck starving them to death.

A Treefolk only had two claws, but there were six Iron Bulls. Every minute, there would be two Iron Bulls that would break free and launch their attacks. The two Treefolks could only weather through the attacks with their tough barks, but could not fight back at all, all the while the trapped Iron Bulls crazily struggled.

It was clear which side was going to win from the start. The Treefolks were at an absolute disadvantage. They couldn't kill their enemies, nor could they escape. Their defeat was only a matter of time. Actually, they wouldn't be in such a dire situation even if faced with the Bear of Earth, because they could at least trap their enemy with their branches and wait until they exhausted all of their energy.

Moxinke and Han Jin rushed to the battlefield in tandem. The restless calf suddenly struggled to get up and roared at Han Jin as if seeking his help. But Han Jin didn't even look at it. He ran past it from a distance of three meters away without stopping. The calf helplessly lay down and looked at the leaving back of Han Jin.

A short time later, they rendezvoused with Sunier. All three watched the battle in front of them. "It seems that we don't need to do anything at all," Han Jin said with a smile.

"What a lazy guy you are," Sunier tittered.

Treefolks were also rough-skinned holy animals, although they were not as strong as Iron Bulls in terms of defensive ability. Without the help of momentum, the horns of those Iron Bulls couldn't pierce into the bodies of the Treefolks at all, but only slightly wound the skin of the trunks. But as they saying goes, dripping water can wear through stones when given enough time. The Treefolk were being seriously wounded as the Iron Bulls stabbed at the same spots for the hundredth time with their sharp horns.

The skin of the trunks fell off in pieces as if being scraped by knives, and green juice continuously flowed out from inside. The Treefolks were suffering in extreme pain. They furiously grabbed their attackers, but the released Iron Bulls would immediately launch another attack, with maybe a slightly different angle of attack. The result of this battle was obvious.

The three bystanders seemed quite bored. Han Jin even sat down on the grass as if he was watching a scene from a movie. He truly was lazy in some senses. If he could achieve something without any effort, he would not bother spending any of his precious energy at all.

A long time passed, and the Treefolks became weaker and weaker. Maxine unsheathed his sword and yelled, "It's time for me to show my skill!".

Han Jin rolled his eyes at him. Moxinke had developed a tendency of self-admiration ever since he had mastered the technique of fighting. He would utter words like 'Let me end this!' or 'You dirty bastard, let me demonstrate the true technique of fighting!' from time to time.

"Fuck off!" Han Jin said helplessly.

Moxinke chuckled. He was used to Han Jin's sarcasm and mockery, just as Han Jin was used to his conceit and arrogance. A ray of cold light as sharp as the point of a blade showed in his eyes, and targeted one of the Treefolk. He quickly rushed toward it.

A puff of a hazy strength of fighting appeared around Moxinke. Before anyone could realize, he had jumped into midair and swung down the sword in his hand with a bright light flowing like shining clouds, among which countless luminous spots sparkled, like a river of stars falling down to the earth.

The upper body of the Treefolk soundlessly flew ten-odd meters away, while the other half of it rapidly withered. Moxinke dropped down onto the ground steadily before he turned his head and stared at the other Treefolk.

The Treefolk panicked. It threw away the two trapped Iron Bulls with its last remnant of strength, and tried to flee. But the moment it pulled out its roots, it instantly lost its balance due to exhaustion and serious wounds, and was immediately knocked down by an Iron Bull. The other Iron Bulls rushed up in a crowd and kicked it like dogs playing with a toy. They didn't stop until it rolled down from the hillside.

Moxinke jumped into midair again. Underneath the bright stars, the remaining Treefolk was also cut into two. The strength of fighting scattered down to the grass like flowing clouds, and disappeared in a flash. All leaves, stems, and roots covered by the fighting strength withered in the blink of an eye. But only the lynx-eyed would notice this.
