43 Surprise
Moxinke woke up yawning when dawn arrived. He felt tired since he had been practicing sword arts for the entire day yesterday and had stayed up late last night. Since there wasn't anyone to teach him fighting techniques, the only thing he could do was to intensify the practices on his own since he had only mastered the basic skills. Moxinke had always considered himself as a man of perseverance. Others might judge him as stupid, aggressive or even reckless, but he would be pissed off if they judged him as lazy.
Suddenly, a rich delicious smell filled his nostrils as he stepped out of the wooden shed. He looked around and saw Han Jin sitting by the bonfire, engrossed in eating something. Moxinke headed toward Han Jin with a smirk on his face. He sat down and reached out one of his hands, intending to get the barbecued meat on the wooden trivet.
But before he could touch it, a strip of rattan was lashed onto his hand. Moxinke was caught off guard since he still wasn't completely awake and the speed of the whip was too fast.
He slewed his head and looked angrily at Sunier, who was the one who had attacked him, but only to find that she was even more angry at him. She twitched her lips, hinting for him to look at Han Jin.
This time, Moxinke finally noticed that there was something different about Han Jin. He was dumbfounded for a while and moved in front of Han Jin to see him more clearly.
The prophet's entire face exuded a kind of brilliance which was indescribable . Excitement, agitation, happiness, satisfaction, as well as many other indescribable expressions crept up on this face as if he were a gold-digging businessman who was looking at mountains of gold, or a lothario who had gotten the most beautiful woman on earth.
Han Jin had many reasons to be as excited. As Sunier had said yesterday, the magic crystal they got from the Bear of Earth was worth almost ten times the price of what they've harvested from the woods, and the energy he could absorb from the bear's meat was also far beyond all the energy that he had accumulated since he had come to this world. If it had to be compared with something from his former world, then the energy he would get was equal to that which he could absorb from an old centurial mountain ginseng!
Han Jin had concentrated all of his attention on and had devoted every effort to his great cause of energy absorption, so he didn't see what was happening to Sunier and Moxinke at all. All he could see and feel at this moment was the energy.
"This is for you, Moxinke." Michelle came with a basket made of rattan hanging from his arm.
Moxinke stood up and sat aside. He reached out his hand and took the basket. There were only roasted wild eggs in it, the shells of which were all cracked with ashes on them. Moxinke didn't mind it at all. He took out one, peeled it, and threw it into his mouth.
At the same time, Cessacioun left the wooden shed. He also sat directly next to Han Jin. Since Han Jin had released magic to help them in their own cultivation, their attitudes toward him had all changed dramatically, and they would cotton up to him from time to time.
"Are you that eager for a thrashing? If you aren't, then come and sit with me," Moxinke said with a skin-deep smile.
"Huh? Why me??" Cessacioun was puzzled. Luckily, he had a good temper, otherwise he would have jumped up and roared like Moxinke, "This is my seat! Who dares to thrash me?"
"Don't blame me for not warning you!" Moxinke's smile turned trickier and trickier. He was by no means a badass, otherwise, he could just sit there as if nothing would happen and laugh at Cessacioun after this ignorant man got a thrashing.
Sunier kicked Cessacioun lightly with the tips of her toes. He looked back at her and understood the hint in her eyes. He immediately stood up and sat down beside Moxinke.
"I told you to come and sit with me just now, but you didn't listen. Why did you come now? If you really have the guts, why not go back and sit beside him!" Moxinke gloated and jeered. He somehow regretted his warning.
"I don't want to talk to you," Cessacioun said as he picked up a wild egg.
Moxinke was the type of person who couldn't get over a day without arguing with others just for the sake of arguing. He was going to talk back but suddenly saw something moving on the ground. He cried surprisingly, "That little thing... it's still alive?"
They all looked at the direction that Moxinke had pointed to and saw the calf lying on a clump of hay, stretching its four limbs. Though it still couldn't stand or eat, it was getting better, judging upon its wounds.
"Well, the magic released by Raphael is… amazing," Sunier said in a low voice.
Moxinke and Cessacioun gazed at each other eye to eye, and then simultaneously turned around to look at Han Jin. Sunier was right: he was an amazing guy!
Miss Keeley and Steelberg were also awakened by the noise outside and got out of the wooden shed. They were both dragged aside without exception.
Han Jin enjoyed the barbecued meat alone, while the others had to share a basket of wild eggs together. This would, more or less, make some of them feel unfair, but both Moxinke and Cessacioun were smart people. They knew that Sunier had her reasons for arranging it this way, and they didn't complain about it anymore. Miss Keeley felt lucky to have something to eat since she was the least contributive one among all of them. As for Steelberg... even if he was required to give his own food to Han Jin, he would do it willingly, not to mention seeing Han Jin exclusively eat meat while he just had wild eggs.
When Han Jin wiped out all the meat, the others had begun to chat for a while already. Moxinke immediately stood up when he saw Han Jin coming toward them with a normal expression, and smilingly pointed to himself.
It had already became a procedure, rather than mere tacit understanding, after repetition for over a month. Han Jin easily drew a Charm of Spirit Refreshment and waved his hand. "Go!" he said.
The charm turned into a white light and permeated into the point between Moxinke's eyebrows. "That's strange... Why do I feel so refreshed today?" Moxinke asked wondrously.
"Because I'm in a good mood today."Han Jin smiled.
Moxinke was speechless. He dared not to argue with Han Jin anymore. It was no good for him to piss Han Jin off. Who knew what this prophet would do for revenge. A true man should know when to yield and when not to. Moxinke was fully aware of this. He still needed Han Jin's help to continue his cultivation, unless he became a sword saint, and that day was still too far away...
"No need for me." Cessacioun smilingly waved his hand when he saw Han Jin staring at him. "I figured out a few key questions last night, and I'll try it to see if I can open the space in the ring."
"Are you sure?" Han Jin asked eagerly. The space ring was of great importance to him, because some of the paper charms couldn't be stored for a long time and had to be used right after they were made. But the space ring could solve this problem, which had been proven through an experiment by him and Sunier.
"I suppose so," Cessacioun replied.
A smile crept up on Han Jin's face. Cessacioun was a modest and conservative man. He would not promise others anything easily unless he was sure that he could keep his promise.
"So it seems like you gained quite a lot," Sunier said with her voice lowered.
"Well..." Han Jin paused. "It is quite a surprise."
