42 Good Neighbor
As the tree collapsed, a giant appeared out of nowhere. Han Jin tiptoed on to the giant's shoulders, flipped his body around, and landed safely on the ground. He immediately scampered away and did not dare to hesitate, leaving the giant there, heavily pounding its arms down on to the dying bear.
The Bear of Earth was extremely exhausted with only a few breaths left. It had no strength to fight back anymore and therefore just stayed there, enduring the thump of the giant.
The thorns had disappeared, and wild oxen thudded down on to the ground one after another, causing the leaves, sand and detritus to fly in all directions. They didn't get up until a few moments later. However, no matter how sharp the thorns were, only one was punctured through in its belly, and all the other oxen were not hurt at all, owing to their exceptional advantage of thick skin.
But the fight in front of the oxen was confusing to them. They slowly moved forward. Han Jin then ran another ten meters or more away when he realised that none of the oxen were running after him. Then, he hid himself behind a big tree and summoned his Wooden Army Calling Charm.
The mighty Bear of Earth breathed its last breath and finally fell down into the pool of blood, surrounded by the howling wild oxen which were hitting it with their heads and treading on its body as if it was their toy. Two of them dashed to the calf and kept licking it with their tongues. But the calf didn't react at all.
After a while, one of the wild ox let out a long grievous roar and turned around to the depth of the woods. The other oxen all followed it and disappeared into the woods.
"What a waste..." Han Jin cracked a bitter smile. He had never expected these wild and aggressive oxen to turn totally different after the death of the Bear of Earth. Otherwise, he would not have wasted his Wooden Army Calling Charm at all!
Whiz! A sound came from among the branches and Sunier jumped down from a tree. "What are those holy animals?" Han Jin asked in a low voice.
"Iron Bulls, seventh grade holy animal," Sunier replied with her eyes sweeping across Han Jin from up to down. "Are you all right?"
"Seventh grade holy animal?" Han Jin opened his eyes wide and rushed to the bear before his words died away. He kicked it to ensure that it is dead. "Sunier!" he cried.
At this time, Moxinke came out from the other side of the woods, and when he saw the body of the bear in front of Han Jin, he couldn't help but shout, "Isn't that the Bear of Earth who had been shot blind in one eye by you, Sunier?!"
"Well." Sunier walked over with a slow pace and smiled at Han Jin after looking at it for a moment. "You must be very happy now, aren't you?" She knew that Han Jin could not only absorb energy from magic crystals, but also from food. He had once told her that the higher the grade of the holy animal, the more energy its meat would contain. Thus, as an eighth-grade holy animal, the bear must contain more energy than an ordinary magic crystal.
"So this really is the Bear of Earth, an eighth-grade holy animal?" Han Jin asked with his eyes sparkling. Usually he wasn't one to talk crap, but now, he was too excited to believe it and had to reassure it for himself.
"Yes." Sunier nodded.
Moxinke strode over, and after a loud roar, he pierced his long sword into the bear's chest. A yellow magic crystal the size of half a fist appeared in front of them. Han Jin stared at it dumbfounded with his inner thoughts running wild. "Energy!" he thought to himself. Moxinke had thousands of Jia's of energy, which had already drew Han Jin's admiration greatly. Now, the energy contained in this yellow magic crystal could be counted by the unit of Xuan! As for how much it exactly contained, Han Jin couldn't figure it out because the energy he owned at present was far less than the energy contained in the magic crystal.
Moxinke passed it to Sunier, who took it carefully and said with a smile after observing it for a while, "It's worth more than ten times the amount of money's all the fortunes we've gotten from these woods are worth."
"Yes, we've made a great fortune again!" Moxinke laughed.
"How I wish we could make fortunes like this every day," Sunier said before placing the magic crystal into her space ring. "Moxinke, try bringing the bear back," she said.
"Don't bother." Han Jin waved his hand. The standing giant strode over to him and threw the Bear of Earth on its shoulders and grabbed it with its two hands.
"What's this?" Sunier suddenly looked amazed and walked over to the calf. She stared at it intently for a while and said, "This calf is still alive."
"Then take it with us too."
"Wait." Sunier waved her hand. "Release a spell for it first!"
"What spell?" Han Jin was stunned.
"The one that you often do for Moxinke."
"Why?" Han Jin was a little reluctant.
"Although Iron Bulls are seventh-grade holy animals, they are not very aggressive and usually never take the initiative to attack others. If this calf needs to be taken care of, they would not be moving away to someplace else. Which means, we will have good travel partners."
"Good for what?"
"If we come across any holy animals that we can't deal with in the future, we can lead them to the Iron Bulls' territory… Do you understand?"
Han Jin looked at Sunier skeptically. But he knew that Sunier was very experienced with living in the woods. Anyway, a Charm of Spirit Refreshment would only cost him thirty yuan's energy. There was no need for him to act stingily. He waved his arm and drew a charm in the air, which was then soundlessly infused into the calf's body.
They waited there for some time, but the calf had no reaction at all. Sunier turned it over and saw a deep wound on the other side of its neck. The wound was so deep that even the bone could be seen."It was hurt too severely," she sighed.
"Are you sure that it can bring us great benefits, Sunier?" Han Jin asked slowly.
"Of course, as long as you can save it."
"Then let me have another try." Then, he moved his fingers in the air again. This time, his actions were extremely slow. The charm he was making was a medium-grade Art of Tao to release sacrificial materials for holy animals. Friars often used this art to cure their holy animals or help them in cultivation. Luckily, Han Jin was a master of miscellaneous knowledge. He knew a little about most of the all the Arts of Tao. As for which art he would concentrate on in the future, that was an entirely different matter.
The charm was finally completed after a long time. Strange symbols that could be seen by the naked eye was floating in the air while emitting a faint white light. Han Jin let out a sigh of relief and roared in a low, ponderous voice, "Go!"
A dazzling light appeared from the charm and wrapped around the calf. When the white light dispersed, the calf's hooves suddenly trembled.
"That was so effective! You... you could be a pastor," Sunier said in exultation. "Hold the calf up, Moxinke. Be gentle! Let me tend to its injuries."
Han Jin shrugged and hoped that Sunier was right. The Charm of Sacrificial Materials for Holy Animals cost him more than two thousand yuan's energy, and he didn't want it to be a bad bargain.
