340 I'm Sorry I'm Wrong

"You're going?" Kara asked Ashley in disbelief.

She told her she won't be going yet now after looking at her phone she suddenly said she would be going?

"Yes," Ashley replied with a smile as she kept her phone away.

Yet her smile turned upside down when she rejected another man of being her escort.

She was known through out university because she was able to defeat many with her cooking even though she was a freshman. At the same time, even with the disguise, her beauty still couldn't be concealed.

"That is the fiftieth, are you okay?" Kara looked at her dark face and stopped herself from laughing as she try to pacify her.

Ashley glared at her and walked ahead, if not for the fact that it was Jackson who invited her to the event, she really wouldn't go.

With Jackson, Simon and Russel around her, she really don't need to learn from the ones catering on the event.

But Jackson just had to inform her that he would be the one leading it together with the other two at the same time inviting her if she wants to be his escort.

"Anyway, since you're going then we need to take this chance to learn a lot from all the food that would be prepared," Kara run up to her and said.

"How about you? Who will you go with?" Ashley couldn't help but ask.

"Oh, hmmm, I'll be going with a friend that is not from the school," was her answer but Ashley could see some bashfulness with her face.

She raised an eyebrow but no longer pried for it was none of her business.

"Come to think of it, have you found the books you were looking for? You almost just finished the first batch and now you're having more. Just what kind of studying are you doing?" Kara remembered and asked.

She noticed that the next day after the convention, Ashley came with new notebooks that has the same style as the one she always bring with her.

Being a curious one, she checked its contents and found it to be some useful notes when you are taking up culinary. Even she was able to benefit from it.

"Yup, got everything again. These are the only ones I enjoyed studying the most. The other stuffs are too boring for me, if not for me needing grades to graduate," Ashley replied with a wide smile.

Kara squinted her eyes at her, "You, do you have a boyfriend? Since you suddenly decided to go to the year end event but you rejected those who wanted to escort you. The same with that smile of yours, its too dashing. I know that you are beautiful but please spare my eyes from your radiance."

Ashley couldn't help but laugh at her remark but she didn't say anything nor she answered her question.

She has no boyfriend but she has someone special, she didn't know if she was special to him but his care was enough for her right now.

She was still far from where he stood that is why she didn't dare to ask for more. But someday she will make sure that he would be hers no matter what.

With this thought, her sullen mood turned bright again even startling Kara who was walking beside her.

"How was it?" Amber asked as she was resting on the sofa with Ashton.

She was referring to when he went to meet Caesar Griffin and the others from the government regarding him taking over the other half of the underworld.

"They were skeptical of course, because I am the young master of an Empire. So when I said that I only hold the ones in Celestial Country and the others were being held by others. Together with the words coming from your uncle. They could only relent, they said as long as there's not much power being amassed then it would be fine."

"At the same time they made me pledge that I must hide my identity as much as possible so that the other Empires woudn't be too much agitated."

Amber furrowed her brows at him, "I don't think that's all there is to it."

Ashton smiled upon hearing this before continuing, "Indeed, it was because behind the attack was also the Pianist. And the other small groups have pledged their loyalty to me that the government no longer has a choice."

"You're lucky then, that I am your bride," she said with a grin.

Ashton placed his hand on top of her head, "Indeed, to become your husband means a lot of trouble."

Amber who was grinning had a dark face after hearing what he had just said, "So I am trouble."

"If not then wouldn't you try and be too confident that you end up being kidnapped? I know you don't trust guards and body guards but if you allowed me to put some on you when I am not around then, this wouldn't have happened so soon."

Amber's retort died in her throat, she can see the anger in his eyes.

That's right, despite them joking and being calm. He hasn't confronted her about this yet, she thought he had let it be already!!

Why did he suddenly brought it up?

Seeing her startled look, he couldn't help but sigh.

"The past days were busy together with your rehab that I couldn't bring it up so easily. Do you think I would let you off the hook so easily?"

"That's..."

"If it was me in such condition, would you really be fine with just you rescuing me?" he continued berating her.

Just how worried was he when he found out that she was taken by the Black Spade Gang? If it was not for the fact that he came across Michael and was able to call for the small gangs then they wouldn't have such easy win.

Amber couldn't speak and just looked away, she understood where she was coming from.

"I admit that when I was shot that was my mistake. But this is even bigger than that. Your life was almost lost even leaving you with a lot of wound and a gun shot!!"

Ashton never raised his voice towards her nor did he got mad at her. This was the first time and being the recepient she couldn't help but jump.

She truly angered him this time and since there are so many things to be taken care of, he had been suppressing it to the point that he had exploded now.

It was a good thing that no body else was at home right now.

"Ash," she said in a small voice before holding his hand.

"You are no longer alone and you have to understand that," he didn't move away from her hand but didn't held her back.

This must be what he felt when she got mad at him back then, though his issue was far smaller than hers. That was a lion's den she entered while he injured himself with people who wouldn't harm him.

'Truly I was indeed in the wrong right now,' she thought as she remained staring at him.

"I couldn't contact you to say the I am fine," she remembered their promise and said.

Ashton glared at her, he was not talking about that promise. If they can then they obviously would contact one another but she was abducted.

Who in their right mind would abduct someone only to allow them to call someone to say that they are fine?

"I'm wrong," Amber added as she remained staring straight in his eyes.

Ashton didn't say anything this time and just looked at her.

"I'm sorry I'm wrong. I really am," she continued.

"Mike, Daniel, Marissa, Jordan, Leandro..."

Ashton slowly furrowed his brows when she suddenly spouted so many names but still didn't say anything.

Amber smiled at him after enumerating so many names while reaching out her hands to massage his furrowed brows.

"I have lost so many of them, so many body guards whom I became close to and others who was like a fleeting cloud that passed through my life."

"I am scared of having more guards that would die while saving me but if it means that I would worry you less. Then allow me to accept as much guards as you want to put on me."

The anger dissipated instantly when he heard her words.

All he knew was that she hated guards that didn't do their jobs properly but to hear her say all the names of the guards that dies for her.

He knew that this was the real reason behind it, she was scared of losing more people.

"Will you accept my apology now?" she smiled again and asked.

Ashton sighed and pulled her into his lap before hugging her tightly, "I will make sure that the guards around you would be stronger and wouldn't die while saving you. Just let me worry less."

Amber played with his hair as she nodded her head, "I understand. I will accept it no matter how many you place to guard me."
