282 Keep Watching Over Her Then
"So someone finally appeared?" Amber asked on the phone.
"Yes, about a week ago, we saw two men tailing her. We kept our distance in order not to alert them that there are more people following her."
It was Aldger who was speaking with her, he looked through the telescope in his hand towards the house where Russel's mother, Jennifer Brown, was staying.
It has been two months since they started this operation of monitoring her mother.
If they were patient then Amber was even more so.
All she did for the past two months were improving the system of Natan restaurant.
She also witnessed the changes in her chefs, after her talk on that meeting.
She saw them being motivated in doing something new and trying things out. She saw them really studying what she had given them back then.
And that is to her happiness for she really went all out to get all of those information from every restaurant. And all the food she ate didn't go to waste either.
"Let them tail her they must be starting to get tired of her everyday repetitive life. At the same time the place she was in has high security, so they couldn't just check on her on that place and harass her," Amber said.
"That has top security because its system came from SNN. With you backing it, don't you think that the security of that place wouldn't be that excellent?" Aldger rolled his eyes.
This one was once again being narcissistic in her own way.
Amber laughed at his remark, "Hey it is not bad to advertise your own product."
"Advertise it to others not me, I'm begging you," Aldger answered as he looked towards where the two men were hiding.
Up to now, they still didn't realize that someone else was watching them closely.
"But I am amazed, you were able to take control of the underworld over there in just nine months," Amber complimented.
"Nope not just yet. There are still a few trying to retaliate. Some of them were even too strong that I needed more time to prepare," he replied with a sigh.
"Then take me with you during those times," Amber suggested and Aldger could tell that her eyes are shinning as she suggested this.
"And when that time comes I would be killed by your husband," he retorted with a roll of his eyes.
Amber laughed.
"Have you forgotten the first and last time you came as our sniper?" Aldger commented hearing her laugh.
Then both of them stopped speaking.
It was because of that day.
Amber have unwittingly helped a snake to become stronger. Though they came out still alive, one of them was hurt badly once again.
"I guess I really am not supposed to mingle with the underworld," she sighed upon remembering the wound Blake once again received on that day.
Aldger didn't say anything, he knew.
No. All of them knew that Amber had been blaming herself all this time of what had happened on that day. Of the wound that Blake once again received in their journey to the underworld.
"That is why, we told you to leave the underworld to all of us. Just be the queen of the outside will you? Stop haggling so much power."
"A queen," Amber muttered.
"Why do all of you think that I would be the queen?" she asked after some thought.
She had been hearing that a lot to all those who knew of what she had been doing. They kept saying about a queen within the empire. But not once did she ever thought that she would be the queen.
Or that she is a queen.
This time, it was Aldger's turn to laugh.
"Why are you laughing?" she asked.
"Nothing. I just never thought that you would think so little of yourself when all along you are but a narcissistic lady."
"Hey, why can I hear insult when you speak about me being a narcissist?" Amber instantly complained.
Aldger can actually see why Ashton have fallen for this lady.
She was not only peculiar but talking to her makes you feel light. As if there are no problems out there that they must tackle.
'Not good, I can tell that if I were to interact with her more and enjoy her company more I would end up breaking my own heart,' he though as he shook his head with a smile.
"Anyway, since we have the power, you can use it freely. You are the wife of our boss, this power is yours as well," he then said to her.
Amber one again laughed, "I understand. I shall leave everything to you then. Please do take care of her, her safety is where my future relies."
"Yes ma'am," Aldger answered even saluting as if she could see him before the two of them bid each other goodbye.
Aldger looked at the people with him, "We can't take this lightly. You must do your jobs properly."
Currently what he was using was fear of power towards these people. He had shown his own prowess when it comes to fighting and guns. Well all four of them were childhood friends who trained together with the harshest of instructors that is why the underworld was actually a playground to them.
Except of course when they have betrayers within their group and they were unprepared to some circumstances.
Right now, he was doing his best to lead this people with his power but he was also thinking of ways on how to start a true comradeship between them. that was uncalled for from the underworld but they knew.
The best way to lead is to make sure that all of you can rely one another and not entirely because of their fear towards their leader.
"Yes sir," the men answered and left to their designated places.
Aldger sighed, "Sometimes it is indeed lonely. It must be nice falling in love."
*****
"How is your side?" this time Amber called Jackson.
"Oh please don't get me started. it took her three weeks before she finally decided to stand up and search for work. And it was very obvious that she was knew to all of these. Running away as if you can do everything, who does she think she is?"
"Adding to that, her first work was an apprentice chef in a very small restaurant and she was fired just after a day. The next was another very small restaurant and she was fired after a day. Just how many times did you think she cried for these past two months?"
"I just want to get out there and hit her hard on the head and tell her to just go home and return to her studies. Why can't she just drop her pride and tell them honestly what she thinks?"
And so on and so forth, Jackson was ranting that Amber could only put it into speaker in order to keep driving while he rants on the side.
She had a smile on her face for even without her looking, just with the way Jackson speaks and elaborates everything. She can tell that Jackson was really watching over her properly and closely for the past two months.
"Are you listening to me?" Jackson complained hearing no response from her.
"Yes, yes, I am listening to you. Keep going I need the full report about her."
"As I was saying, three weeks ago, she had finally decided to start as a server. She should have did that on the first place. Not all chefs starts as chefs, others start from being a server while observing the way of the chefs."
And there goes his ranting that could make others scratch their ears for it was truly so long.
"And that's why, currently she left her past apartment and rented a much smaller and much cheaper place. Though I do feel bad for it was very obvious that she was not used to it."
"You can help her if you want?" Amber suggested.
"No."
She laughed upon hearing the decisive tone in his answer.
"You wanted her to grow then let her experience all of these, plus..."
"Hmmm?"
"I can tell, that she is indeed someone who has perseverance."
Amber's smile widened even more. Jackson rarely praise other people. For Ashley to receive his praise, it only means she has indeed did her best out there.
"Keep watching over her then."
She heard him grumble as she hung up but she knew he would do just that.
Her third call was towards Ashton.
"Your sister is currently experiencing the poverty life she didn't get to experience at all. But I think this is the best way for her to really understand society," she reported.
"I will never doubt your way. But you must also watch over yourself, don't overwork and get sick again," Ashton replied.
"Back at you, you think I don't know where you are right now?" Amber answered with her voice turning grave.
"Yes, about a week ago, we saw two men tailing her. We kept our distance in order not to alert them that there are more people following her."
