“Nyan ……”
“Garu ……”
“Kuon.”
“Looks like they’re quite shocked ……”
In a corner where they won’t interfere with Daihachi’s work, a mother and child snow tiger grow small and whimper, and Ash, who has been given a name, consoles them. It’s counterproductive, Ash …… Oh, look, you got tapped on the nose.
“Don’t you have a name for the cats?”
“Yeah, it’s not like I’m keeping them, after all. Look, I’m sorry, but please play with Ash.”
“Yeah! Come, Ash!”
“Kuon!”
Chelle was laughing and petting Ash as he retreated from the little snow tiger. It might be nice to have a ball or something, I suddenly thought. For the time being, I’ll think about playthings later, but for now, I’ll move on with the garden and house renovations.
“Can you make a door here that a little bear can fit through? …… Something like this.”
“Oh, what? Heh~, so you can draw a diagram …… I see, a mechanism that opens from either side and automatically closes when the bear has passed through. That’s an interesting idea.”
I proposed what is known as a western or swinging door, which opens and then returns to its original position on its own. The parent can’t, but I’m thinking of using it to let Ash and the little snow tiger move freely between the garden and the house.
“But how do you make this metal? I don’t know that, you know.”
“Oh, I got this from a blacksmith I knew a long time ago. Here.”
“Oh …… this is brilliant.”
The name of that hinge-like mechanism is called a “gravity hinge”, and I had asked Arjan to make one for Aina because she often bumped into doors. I don’t think it exists in this world yet, so I guess I’m the first.
By the way, there is an ancient magic called “Creation”, and if you have the materials, you can make it with that. But please understand that “I didn’t make it” …… yes, it’s very difficult ……
“If I have the ingredients, it’ll be easy! Hey, Basleigh, get out of the way and stop playing with the dog. “
“What!? Even though I’m playing with Schneider …… Go, Schneider!”
“Baooo!”
“Get out of my way. Even though you two were fighting just now.”
“Hyuun …… Hyuun ……”
“Muu, It can’t be helped. I’ll just go take care of the horses. Oh, I want a hamburger for dinner! I’ll buy the ingredients!”
That’s very clever of you …… No, I mean, what about the minister herself going shopping? Well, whatever, I thought as I went on with my work.
Then, as the sun began to set, Makina and Basleigh-sensei left the house to go shopping and take Chelle home, and Daihachi-san finished his work.
“Well, that was a lot of work …….”
“Good work. It’s amazing that you can do it in a day.”
“Well, it’s what I do for a living, after all!”
“Oh, this is great.”
The garden was well maintained to begin with, but the scene in front of us was quite different.
First of all, just to the left of the entrance was the garden, but a solid iron fence had been put up so that after passing through the entrance gate, we had to pass through another gate to reach Fath-san’s cabin.
There were no gaps in the fence, making it impossible for even the little snow tiger to escape.
Next was the horse stable.
We trimmed the plants in the yard to make it wider and moved the stables from the front to the back. They were moved to the back so that the horses could have access to the yard. We made an iron lockable door in the wall next to the stables so that we could bring in new straw. The lock is only on the inside, so it’s nearly impossible to break in from here. The stables will be closed at night so that Schneider and Radia can’t attack them …… I think it’s probably safe.
So, I set up one of Schneider’s huts that resembles a simple dog shed, on the opposite wall from the horses. It’s about the size of a Siberian Husky, so he made it without much effort. I gave him a blanket and cushions inside, so I’m sure he’ll remodel the sleeping area on his own.
I was worried about the deadly bears because they live in holes in the wild, but I hollowed out a large rock to make it look like a cave.
Ash was very happy with this, and it was cute to see him rolling around in it. Radia quickly laid out the straw piled up at the entrance and made a nest.
“Nyaan♪!”
“Garuuu!”
“Hoh, It’s so cool here.”
“Yeah, you can see those ice magic tools over there, right? It’s useful because you don’t need to replenish its magic power for two or three days.”
Of course, I also gave a home to the mother and child Snow Tiger, who were unhappy about not being named. Since they were cat-like, I had them build a shed in the middle of the yard that looked like a warehouse on stilts, and had them sleep in it. The entrance to the shed is just barely wide enough for the parent Snow Tiger to pass through, and I’ve covered it with a curtain-like sheet to keep them cool.
Finally, I remodeled the pond myself.
I drained the pond and dug a hole under the wall to open it up to the river that runs nearby. Of course, we dug another hole so that the pond would go in another direction, and the river would flow through the house pond on its way.
“The pond has come to life. There’s even a few fish swimming in it, too.”
“We’ve put up a small net downstream, which should make it easier to catch any fish that wander into the pond. Maybe we can get some fresh fish.”
“Fumu, Lars is so wise. I’m thrilled to be with you, even in my old age.”
Fath-san smiled as she reached into the pond and picked up one of the fish. It’s my home, and I want it to be convenient for me to live in. In my previous life, I didn’t have that kind of freedom, so I’m not like Fath-san, but I have fun too.
After confirming everything, I took out my wallet from my bag and handed the money wrapped in paper to Daihachi-san.
“So, here’s the payment.”
“…… I did receive 200,000 beryls. But, are you sure? I don’t mind giving you a little discount since you know Basleigh.”
“No, you did it all in one day, and I’d be happy to pay more. So take it.”
“Really? That tall cabin was amusing too, so I’d like to take your request again. See ya!”
“Thanks! Don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll be asking for you again soon.”
“Huh?”
Daihachi refused, saying that his wife was waiting for him for dinner, and he left.
“Well, let’s relax until Makina and the others return.”
“Yes, I suppose so. I’ll let them sleep until dinner.”
“Haha, I guess so.”
Tired of playing, Sephiro, Ash, and the little snow tiger were sleeping soundly in the hammock I had made for them.
“Let’s go back to the room quietly, then.”
I looked back at the garden, which was now large enough for the parent bear to exercise, and feeling satisfied, I smiled. Then, next is the tamer facility, what should I do.
I think about what I should do to carry out the plan I have in my head. It’s going to cost a lot of money, and I need to talk to Tanji-san about it. Should I finish the design first ……?
And then there was an unexpected visitor–
I didn’t have time to write a manuscript, so no afterword theater! Sorry!
Thank you for reading!
