CH 175

Fifteen years old.

At this age, which is one step before adulthood, I …… will graduate from Oblivion Academy. I’ve asked why the curriculum ends a year before adulthood, and I’ve been told that it’s “thinking time”.

In fact, as in the previous world, there is not much of a concept of looking for a job before graduation and working immediately after graduation; you can start anything, anywhere, anytime.

It is not necessary to become a knight at this time of the year, and there is no need to hurry to study to become a scholar. It’s up to you.

“…… A lot happened.”

In the first year of school, I had a fight with Ryuuze, and in the third year, there was the kidnapping of Luciel and Luciela.

In the end, A-Class won all of the yearly class competitions without losing a single game, but I also have fond memories of the heated games that took place when Tigre-sensei had a class.

Then there was a knock on the door of the room and my brother called out to me.

“Lars, it’s almost time, are you ready?”

“Yes. Yeah, I was just about to leave. You’re going too, right?”

“Of course. It’s Lars and Nora’s graduation day. We’re going to celebrate with the whole family today.”

“Nora’s finally living with us today, huh. She’s been with us a long time, hasn’t she?”

“That’s right. We’ve known each other for ten years …… I’m grateful to Lars for letting me meet Nora. If I had made a mistake somewhere, this would not have happened.”

My brother looks me straight in the eye and then bows his head.

“Haha, come on, brother. I’ve already told you how I feel, though.”

“…… But still, thank you.”

He smiled at me and I smiled back and shook his hand. Just as I was about to leave, I heard footsteps running down the hallway and a loud voice coming into my room.

“Good morning, Lars-niichan! Let’s go to the academy together!”

“Good morning Aina, you’re energetic today too.”

“Good morning to you too, Dedite-niichan! That’s because you’re their sister, and I have Mama’s medicine, so I won’t get sick.”

(T/N: I’ll keep writing “Brother” if Lars calls his brother, but if Aina is the one who calls them, I’ll write her brothers name with “-niichan” in it.)

Aina, who is now five years old, holds up her finger and says this with a cheeky sniffle. That’s not what I meant by energetic, though.

“Good morning, Sarge! Ugh, that was painful ……”

“That time that you crashed into the wall the other day, huh. You’re a tomboy for a bit too much.”

“You’re as good as a boy.”

I carried Aina in my arms and left the room with my brother and Sarge. Sarge still lives in this house and has been living with Aina and us.

“Is it alright if I go too?”

“Well, it’s the last time, after all. Since ‘that incident’, I don’t mind going out into the city anymore.”

“What’s wrong, Sarge?”

Well, things happened and Sarge was allowed to go for walks in town whenever he wanted, but I guess it’s not something I should talk about now.

“Good morning, Lars. …… You’re finally graduating.”

“Time flies, doesn’t it? I thought Dedite graduated the other day.”

“Good morning, Mom and Dad.”

I greeted my mom and dad, had breakfast with everyone and headed to the school. My brother graduated two years ago, so I’ve been going to the school by myself.

“How nostalgic.”

As I thought that would be the last time, I saw Nora standing in her usual place.

“Good morning, Dedite-kun, Lars-kun. It’s our last day.”

“Good morning, Nora.”

“Good morning.”

“Good morning!”

Nora has grown taller and less childish since entering the fifth grade. She has lost her long-winded way of speaking because she is going to be my brother’s wife, and is now becoming a respectable woman.

“I’ll be in your care starting today, Aina-chan.”

“Yes! Are you done going to the orphanage?”

“No, I’ve already sent my things. It was hard for the crying little one’s, I guess. Well, I can see them anytime!”

I say to Nora, who laughs as she holds hands with Aina.

“The only thing you couldn’t fix was ‘Ora’.”

(T/N: That’s what Nora says when she addresses herself instead of “Ore” or “Watashi”)

“Well, it’s cute, so I guess it’s okay.”

“Brother ……”

“Ehehe, I’m trying to fix it, though?”

She turned around and stuck her tongue out at Nora, who laughed, and we walked on. I’m sure their wedding will be gorgeous next year. As I’m thinking about this, Aina passes the baton to brother, takes my arm and opens her mouth.

“What are you going to do after graduation, Lars-niichan? You have money, so you don’t have to work! Do you want to stay at home with Aina?”

“Oh, we’ll talk about that later.”

“Fufu, I’m happy to be with my Lars-niichan every day.”

When I was frowning at Aina, who was walking around in a good mood, Sarge whispered to me.

“…… Isn’t it fine since she’s going to find out sooner or later?”

“Oh, you’re on Niichan’s head! I’m jealous!”

Sarge rides on my head, Aina jumps up and down trying to grab Sarge’s tail, and we make our way through the bustling morning streets of the school.

Eventually, we arrived at the school, and Nora and I went to class. My brother, Aina, and Sarge went to the place where we used to practice for the entrance ceremony and class competitions to wait for dad in the visitor’s section.

“…… I feel like I’m going to cry.”

“It’s still early. Look, everyone’s here.”

Every class was abuzz with activity, and A-Class was no exception. When I opened the door, with Nora already in tears behind me, they all turned to look at me at once.

“Hey, Lars! We’re finally graduating!”

“Yeah, you’re right, Ryuuze.”

“It’s too early …… We’re graduating already, huh. I wish we could have had more fun.”

Jack sat down in his chair and muttered to himself.

“As expected, I won’t be able to play, so I guess I’ll pass? …… But I really enjoyed my time at the academy with you guys. Thank you.”

“Me too! I didn’t think that the [Spiritual Art] that I disliked would be useful like this!”

Urka has brightened up from his initial frightened state, and I think he’s one of my most active classmates.

“I had fun too! I started in the middle, but everyone was nice, and the guild club was awesome!”

That’s what Patty said. She didn’t play an active role, but she was faster than even Makina in the bread-eating contest, despite her soft appearance. She was not just looking for a job in the school cafeteria for nothing.

She said she wanted to save up money in the school cafeteria and open a restaurant in a different town, she’s such a tough kid.

Then, Luciel smiled sadly and opened her mouth.

“There won’t be many people left in this town, It’s going to be lonely ……”

“Er, it’s just Patty, Ryuuze, and Urka, right?”

“What are you talking about? I’m here too!”

After I muttered, Kudelica hugged my back and opened her mouth. Luciel has become more girly overall, while kudelica has become …… well, her height didn’t change much, but her breasts got really big.

She’s been practicing what someone once said, “If you can’t push it, pull it,” and she’s come this far without me realizing it.

The way she talks has become more gyaru-like, and she’s changed from a hamster to a fox.

(T/N: Gyaru (ギャル), a Japanese transliteration of the English slang word ‘gal’ (“girl”), is a Japanese fashion subculture.)

“…… Lars-kun, you’ll come to the rooftop after the graduation ceremony, right?”

“I-I know.”

“Kuu, you’re troubling Lars-kun now.”

“Hmm, Makina-chan, you have to come too, okay?”

“Of course.”

“Now, now.”

As Luciel was quieting down Makina and Kuderika, the teachers came in and hurriedly took their seats.

“Oh, you’re all here, right? Well, even if you said you had a cold, I’d have to pull you in!”

“You all did a great job until today♪.”

The ones smiling in front of us were Tigre-sensei and Verna-sensei, who became homeroom teacher and assistant homeroom teacher once again at the end.

Their daughter, Tilia-chan, is now four years old and has become the mascot of the infirmary, so Verna-sensei has returned as the assistant homeroom teacher.

They still fight a lot and seem to be a happy couple, and Sarge is very happy to see them together. Tilia-chan is a quiet girl, but she gets along well with Aina, and she sometimes says black words in a quiet way, which makes me think that she really is Verna-sensei’s daughter.

…… I also miss that battle in Luitzar country now. Verna-sensei’s mother-in-law also spoke her mind at the wedding and has made peace with the situation, so there will be no more problems. Grace-sama has also gotten married and doesn’t show her face much anymore, but her mother-in-law writes and asks her to come home to see Tilia-chan.

“The only thing that I want to say is …… I have nothing more to say …… but, I want to say one thing since it’s the last time …… I’ve taught you everything you need to know in the past year. I want you to remember that it’s up to you how you use it. Especially for this class with dragon equipment. There will be some jealousy and envy, but if you haven’t done anything wrong, stand confidently. Then things will definitely turn out for the better. Congratulations on your graduation.”

“Teacher ……”

As we were about to cry at the sight of the slightly wrinkled teacher who smiled at us, Verna-sensei approached us, laughing.

“It’s really a coincidence that I met you guys. Especially Lars-kun. But thanks to that, I was able to get to know you all, become a teacher, and spend time with you guys. I’m really …… happy …… to be able to send you all off with a smile.”

Verna-sensei was overcome with emotion and burst into tears.

There were times when it was hard. However, I hope that Verna-sensei, who has achieved even greater happiness, will live a happier life from now on. The three of them, with Tigre-sensei and Tilia-chan. Their family might still increase, though.

“Hehe, we’ve learned from Tigre-sensei, so we won’t be so easily discouraged. Right?”

“Well, that’s the way it is. You don’t have to worry about a thing!”

“I’ll come back to you if I’m in trouble. You can give me a sermon or something.”

Ryuuze, Jack, and Yogus said this to Tigre-sensei, and I continued.

“I’ll never forget what you taught us, teacher. I hope you’ll continue to teach the younger ones.”

“Please don’t make mistakes, and help those who are about to make mistakes.”

Makina also laughed softly and sat down, bowing her head.

“Yeah …… Thanks for everything, guys. You guys are the funniest people I’ve ever met. Well, I guess it’s Lars’ fault, too.”

“Oh, me!?”

“Fufu, you’re always sticking your head into things, after all.”

Even Verna-sensei said something like that, and I shrank. When I look discouraged, everyone laughs.

“Then, let’s head to the ceremony! We’ll break up at the site afterwards. You won’t have another chance to talk to us today. So I’ll say it again. Congratulations on your graduation! And thank you. I wish you all the best in the future.”

“May you all be happy!”

” ” “Thank you very much!” ” “

The girls were already crying, but still managed to reply and got up from our seat and headed for the ceremony.

“…… Tigre-sensei, it was really nice of you to always help me.”

The moment I walk out the door, I make eye contact with the teachers and open my mouth to say thank you. They smiled and raised their hands to see me off.

I couldn’t finish ittttt! I’m sorry ……!

Thank you for reading!

[Afterword Theater]

“It’s not over!”

That scared the hell out of me!

“This guy ……!”

Are you giving up ……!?
