The next morning after a successfully epic party, according to Logan and Josh, I wake up at what feels like the crack of dawn because after the night the boys had neither is up for a major clean up and as my parents arrival is happening in the evening sometime it is my responsibility to clean. The house is in complete and utter chaos with bottles and red party cups everywhere. Luckily, for me there is no party people in the house, which is probably because I had requested that both boys attempt to get as many people out of the house before they passed out so I would not be left with policing along with my cleaning job.

I fail to understand how Josh can just sleep peacefully in bed as if the parent's are not coming in a few hours. I need to acquire a blasé attitude of the world because caring has only led me to cleaning up the entire house on my own. An hour later, I have cleaned up all the loose bottles and cups, but have saved the vacuuming for when everyone else is up so I do not wake them. I run up to my room and pick out an outfit that would have my mother's seal of approval. I end up picking out a tube top day dress made from flower print, paired with a small jean jacket and gladiators; I hope my mom likes this outfit. At around seven, I wake up the boys and Emily so they can get ready for school, all three groan and mumble incoherently until I threaten to pour cold water on them.

I am downstairs eating a huge stack of waffles when Joshie, Em, and Logan decide to grace me with their presence. I pass Josh and Emily an Advil and water to swallow it with and give Logan a huge kiss on the lips.

"Morning Ambi Bambi.... Mmm...Sugary." He says as he licks the syrup of his lips. I blush slightly because I am such a boy and do not know how to eat without getting maple syrup all over myself. "Did you wake up early and clean the entire house?" Logan asks.

"Yeah. I just need to vacuum it when we get home." I say.

"Amber, what are you wearing?" Emily asks as she takes in my outfit.

"A dress. Why do I look ugly in it? Should I change?" I say fidgeting with it nervously. Logan sees my distress and grabs my hands holding them in his, then leans in and whispers, "You look beautiful." Josh rolls his eyes at me as if he does not understand the big deal.

"No, you look great. I was just wondering why you have a dress on."

I shift in comfortably. "Oh erm..." I stall not really wanting to explain to her that I am wearing it for my mom because knowing her she would yell at me for letting my mom control me like this. She is a strong believer in teen angst.

"We should get going." Logan says saving me from answering Em's questions. I give him a grateful look and he smiles pulling me towards the door.

"Actually you guys go on. I will catch up with you." Emily says.

I wait a second to see if she is kidding. "How?" I ask her suspiciously.

"I think I am going to walk or bus it." Emily says.

Emily doesn't believe in public transportation. When I tried to get her to come with me on the bus to go to Chinatown she practically bit my head off. "You walk or bus, like public transportation? You on MUNI? You're joking, right? "I say not hiding how ludicrous it sounds.

"It not that bad besides I will probably walk. I need the exercise." She says almost venomously. I decide not to take on the wrath of Emily especially when she is not in a good mood.

"Okay then." I say not wanting to get into a fight with her right before my parents come home, although I suppose my mom would be thrilled.

"Logan take Amber's car because I need to stay late today." Josh says walking out of the house. Today is not a good day clearly. I walk outside the house and see my baby-sitting on the driveway with a smile I hop into it.

"Ready?" Logan asks as I put my seatbelt on.

"Yeah. Today is going to be hell, isn't it?" I ask but Logan doesn't answer he just drives.

"Hey, what happened to your car?" I randomly ask as I remember his black car.

"Oh Al is going to keep it in the shop for me until I get enough money to pay for it."

"Aww does this mean you are going to be working or something?" I ask and then I realize more importantly, "But that means you can't spend time with me." I say making my best puppy dog face.

"Oh you're sad about that. I was sure you would be happy."

"Why would I be happy?"

"You don't exactly hide your annoyance with me." He says making me feel slightly guilty, that is until he gives me a teasing smirk.

I try not to let his dumb smirk annoy me and realize I am going to miss his teasing. "Yeah, but now I can't constantly be annoyed with you."

"And you're going to miss that?"

"Immensely. You make my day always Peachey, even when I don't say it."

He thinks about this for a second before grinning and saying, "And why wouldn't I? I am a sexy beast after all."

I roll my eyes, which doesn't faze him as expected. "Yes, yes you are." I say with a grin.

"I know." He says making me grin again. What an incredible cheese head.

"You think my parents will stay long this time?"

"Maybe. Are you going to tell them about us?"

"And not let my mother have the joy of seeing her cheerleader daughter with a football player?" I say with mock horror at the thought of deceiving mother dearest.

"True, plus your mother loves me." I roll my eyes at him but can't help agreeing.

I don't know how Logan does it but somehow he steals every girl's heart. Okay well I kind of know how he does it. The boy has lips of a god and most of the female population has kissed those wonderful lips. "Yeah, I know. Why she is so fond of you is totally and completely beyond me. I mean the Logan Clifton she knows is a notorious cocky flirt."

"Face it babe, I'm a catch."

"Sure you are because every girl dreams about being with a guy who sleeps around and breaks the rules."

"You do." He says not even pretending to be ashamed of his player image.

"Yeah well I am a cliché. A sixteen year old cheerleader, trying to DATE a player."

"You know clichés become clichés for a reason: they are great ideas."

"I guess."

"And what do you mean by trying? Last time I checked you are dating me."

"Hahaha...says you. I am young and hot, I need to keep my options available."

"Don't let me stop you babe."

"You seem calm but would you just let me go with anyone?"

"No. I would kick the pansy's ass when you weren't looking."

"Of course you would. You know kicking people's butt is no very nice."

"Really? Seriously? It is not very nice? Well this is a revelation."

"I don't like your tone of voice Mister."

"Well too bad."

"Your being awfully mean to me you know."

"Well aren't you a Sherlock."

"Again with the meanness. You are so NOT my favorite anymore."

"Never said I wanted to be your favorite."

"ARE YOU DONE ALREADY? I scream angrily.

"Yeah I think I am. You know you look hot when you're angry." He says smirking at me as I try very hard not to smile back. "You know I was thinking maybe telling your mom about me, I mean us, is not such a great idea."

"Am I dreaming or are you really advocating hiding our relationship?"

"Ha-ha. No seriously, you're right. Think about this: Me being me and living under the same roof as you. Your mom is cool but not that cool. What would that seem like?"

"Well I would be an un-virtuous whore and you would be a lucky bastard."

"True but more importantly I would end up homeless and you would have to go on an awkward doctor's appointment to start using the pill."

"One. I am already on the pill. Two. I would not let you go homeless. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I let that happened? I would do what any mature teenager would do, sneak you into my room, wait until my parent's go to sleep and then feed you leftovers."

"What are you on the pill for? If we aren't doing anything, then why do you need to be on it?"

"Yeah cause out of everything I said that is most important."

"Yes, it is very sweet of you to share your room and all, but why are you on the pill?"

"Oh did I forget to tell you? On weekends, I am a call girl. Where do you think I got the money to pay for all my oil paints and canvases?"

"Seriously Ambs."

"Seriously Peachey relax. It makes my cycle normal."

"Yuck...Cycle." He says with disgusted face. Sometimes I wonder how guys came up with these delusional mental images of girls. I mean seriously it's a period and it comes in cycles. Build a bridge and get over it. "So you just don't give me ass?"

"Well aren't you classy."

"You know what I mean."

"I love you, Peachey." Logan looks into my eyes and I basically get lost in a sea of blue. I don't know how long I just stare into his eyes before he opens his mouth.

"Are we seriously telling them?"

"No. I guess you're right. Too much drama."

"And I don't want anyone ruining this." He says holding my hand tightly.

"You are possibly the sweetest guy EVER." I say giving him a kiss on the cheek. He kisses my nose and smiles at me.

"True, but you forgot to mention undeniably hot, and orgasmic." I giggle.

"And modest as well." I say with sarcasm. "Way to kill a moment Peachey."

"You act like you don't enjoy my cockiness."

"I do love a man who is hot and knows it.

"Don't forget orgasm inducing."

"You keep telling yourself that Peachey."

"Honey you moaning my name tells me everything I need to know."

"Yucky. Can you please try to keep it PG when you are talking to me? Some of us would like to keep our mind and ears clean." I say to which Logan replies with a roll of his eyes and a shrug of his shoulders. Boys, they freak out about hearing about periods and reproductive anatomy but sex is totally natural and fine to talk about.

Logan starts driving when the light turns green and then turns to me significantly, "So I have to ask what is up with Emily?"

"You are such an old woman, gossiping shamelessly."

He shrugs his shoulders, "She didn't tell you, huh? I thought you guys share everything with each other."

"Well who is Josh's girl?"

Ignoring me he continues, "Isn't that what like every chick does? Bitch to their friends."

"Wow. Way to be an ignorant sexist butt face."

"You act like it isn't true." He says rolling his eyes.

"It isn't. I don't tell Emily every single gory detail of my life and I sure as hell do not bitch to her about everything."

"Well there isn't a lot of gory details to share." He says making my face turn red.

"Even if there were, would you really want her to know? Besides, it's kind of embarrassing." I say.

"Ambs." He says laughing like simply my name is explanation enough.

When we reach school I am surprised to see Emily already here looking pretty and smiley as opposed to red and sweaty. As I reach closer to where she is standing, I notice her hands intertwined with someone's hand, but I can't see who the person is because there face is blocked from my view. I am about to walk over there and see whose hand she is holding when Logan pulls me towards the school. We walk into the school with him using his super strong all-star receiver grip.

"Why must you pull me like a rag doll?"

"Huh...what?" He says putting his arm around me and totally oblivious to the fact that he literally pulled me inside. When we reach his locker, he pulls out books and sticks more in and then slams it shut. I look at him completely baffled. He looks down at me raises his eyebrows, then shrugs his shoulders and pulls me around a corner with sneaky spidey skills. When I look around the corner, I see Josh standing holding a girl's hand. I pull on Logan's arm and am about to say something when Logan puts a hand over my mouth. "If you want an introduction don't say a word. He would kill me, if he knew I brought you here to show you Lily." I am so amused and utterly absorbed with the scene unfolding in front of me that I briefly forget that Logan had known about... Lily.

"Wait you knew and you didn't tell me?" I say hitting his arm hardly.

"Dude." He says rubbing his arm. "I can't break the bro-code." Resulting in an eye roll from me.

"Butt-head. You knew how curious I was?"

"Sorry Babe. Bros before hoes." He says rubbing my temples with his finger.

"Good to know my boyfriend thinks so highly of me." I say.

"You know it. I like my girls easy." He says whilst giving me a cheeky kiss.

"What is she like? She looks pretty and sweet. How old is she? Did she always go here?"

"She is nice and not as pretty or sweet like my girl. She is a senior and she has been going to school with us since elementary school."

"How did they meet or end up together or whatever?"

"Well that is actually a crazy story that you should probably ask Josh about."

"Do you think he would tell me?"

"Maybe, but you should ask him and try to not be too pushy with your questions. He is very touchy about this. He was afraid to see how you would respond to this."

"Really?"

"Yeah. You know you and Josh say whatever you want to each other with no filter but when it comes to the serious sentimental things you might as well be two five-year-olds. "

"We are just not touchy-feely people."

"Oh believe me I know. Remember I am the guy who had to wait for you to realize you loved me too."

"Well better late than never." I say tip-toeing up to Logan's lips for a kiss.

"Mmm. Very true. I am just glad you did."

"Me too. Resisting your charm was too much work especially when you were making out with me every chance you got."

"Hey, I had to use what I had to my advantage."

"You are more than a really, REALLY, good kisser."

"This is odd."

"What?"

"Amber Thorn being nice to me."

"I am always nice." Logan looks at me in disbelief and even though I would love to object, I know he is right. "Alright. I am not always nice, but truthfully you are absolutely amazing Peachey. I mean it." Logan leans in this time, gives me a kiss on the cheek and a goofy, druggy grin. I think I just made his morning.

School finishes just like it started, weirdly. I never got a chance to meet Em's mystery man because the woman kept hiding from me, which forced me to sit with Logan and Josh. I love them both but they make me feel like a little kid next to them. I was also having a bit of a heart attack because I was nervous about my parents coming home. You would think I would be happy to see my parents after so long but all I feel is stress.

Logan sees me standing by the car biting my lip and asks, "Ready to go?" I shrug my shoulders not sure exactly how I feel. "Ambs it will be fine. I don't know why you always freak when your mom comes home."

"That's because you're a boy. My mom takes one look at me and then sees everything that is wrong with me. When she looks at you and Josh she is all smiles and cookies."

"Okay so she is a bit judgmental."

"A bit? Logan she forgot about my birthday and then she said I looked ugly. You and Josh had clip on ties and she still thought you looked great."

"I remember. You where crying."

"Yeah and then you gave me this." I say pulling out the locket, he gave me.

"Damn. I am sweet." I roll my eyes at him and turn up the music. When we reach home, I run upstairs to my room and try to clean up some of Emily's mess. "Ambi Bambi please stop." Logan says leaning casually against my doorframe.

"Logan, I am trying to clean Em's mess because if my mother sees it she will know we threw a party."

"Your mom never comes to your room so relax." Okay so maybe he is right. "Now are we done talking about your parents?" He says leaning in for a slow building kiss.

"Parents? What parents?"

"So do you want to have a sleepover later?"

"I do love sleepovers, but wouldn't someone catching you in my room give away that we are going out?" He shrugs his shoulders and pulls me onto the bed.

Logan whispers, "I like danger." as he gets up from the bed.

I pull on Logan's arm trying to pull him down towards me but he ends up pulling up. "Where are you going?" I ask him.

He smiles at me and says, "I have to go to Al's because he offered me a job and I need the money."

I make a pout. "But you are supposed to faun over me."

"Sorry princess but duty calls."

With my brows furrowing I mumble, "Some knight in shining armor you are."

Logan kisses my cheek, "Would you rather come, and watch me spend hours working at the car shop."

"Never mind. Hehehe. I love you but not that much." Logan makes a face but I choose to ignore him. "Are you going to come for dinner?"

"Nah. I think I will let you Thorns have a quiet family evening."

I roll my eyes at him. "Our version of a quiet family evening is a dinner party."

"I know. Want me to kidnap you after work?"

"YES. Although what would my excuse for leaving me?"

"I did say Kidnap. So I was thinking we just leave without anyone knowing."

Smiling ear to ear, "Peachey did I ever tell you I like the way you think?!"

When mom and dad come home at four in the afternoon, I am the only one home. Mom walks through the door and gives me a hug, while dad waves me off pointing to his cell phone. "Hey honey."

Conventionally I say, "Hey mom. How was your trip here?"

Mom heads over to the living room and for the first time ever I notice my mom looking unkempt. She has dark bags under her eyes, her hair and nails are in need of some serious tender, love, and care, and she looks to have lost a lot of weight. "Oh it was fine. A bit long. Where is your brother darling?"

"Oh erm. Josh had some stuff to take care of for school."

"And where is Logan? Isn't he living here now?"

"Yeah he is at work."

"Oh alright. So how are things with you going?"

I can tell by looking at her she is not up for some girl talk like she usually is. "Things are great. M-mom, we can talk later if you're not up for it."

"Oh no I am fine. I haven't seen you in a long time."

"Well we can talk later. You should sleep or something. You look exhausted."

"I think your right. I am going to bed, but wake me up at around 7 me and your father have to go out.", she says with a thin smile.

Not sure what else to say, "Okay." Well that was awkward. My mother doesn't do midday naps, in fact she things they are for lazy people. After my mom went up for a nap I decided I might as well get one in since my gorgeous boyfriend decided to work instead of entertain me, my supposed best friend is out gallivanting with a mysterious nameless man, my brother rather make-out with is nice girlfriend and my sister leaves cryptic messages in old hiding places. Why does it seem like my life is a bad Nicholas Sparks novel.

When I wake up later it is six o'clock and I see the shadow of someone walking outside my room. Deciding I am no longer tired, I get off my bed and head to the bath room for a quick shower before I have wake up my mother. After finishing my shower, I head out of my room and am about to head down when I hear noises coming from Logan's room. I softly knock and wait for him to let me in because I am not sure if I am aloud to just barge into his room.

"Come in." He says so I walk into his room. "Look I have to go....Yeah I will call....okay OKAY." Logan closed his eyes and sighing.

I walk up to him and give him a hug because he seems to need one. "You okay."

"Yeah. Hey, where are your parents?"

"Oh my mom went to take a nap because she looked exhausted and my dad...I am not actually sure. He came in the house phone in hand and went straight to his office so I have no idea."

He smiles, "We should start our sleepover early then."

"Sorry I have to go wake mom up for a party but after that I am all yours Peachey." I say walk toward my mom and dad's room, but as I am, about to move Logan wraps his arms around my waist turning me around. "Hey."

"Kiss first." He says with a grin. I roll my eyes but oblige.

After my parents have left the house, Logan and I decide to watch a movie. My mother as predicted was thrilled to see Logan and told him he could stay as long as he liked after he thanked her for letting him live here.

Logan walked back from the kitchen with his arms filled with food. "Okay so I wasn't sure what you where in the mood for so I just brought everything." And he actually had brought everything. In his arms he had small ice cream containers, chips, coke, beer, cookies and of course artificial cherries.

"Hmm... I want the"

"Cherries. I know." I smile and take the jar. "You know if you keep eating those two at a time you will get a stomach ache."

"Or I worse, I will finish them all and make you buy me more." I say with horror to which Logan replies with a roll of the eyes. "So how was your first day of work?"

Logan sighs, "Uneventful."

"Maybe tomorrow will be different."

"I doubt it babe. Hey did your mom do something different to herself?"

I shrug my shoulder like I am indifferent to the situation but I can't help but worry. My mom is always prim and proper, so seeing her all dead and tired is nerve-wracking. "I don't really know, but she looks tired. Do you think something is wrong?"

Logan takes my hand and squeezes it gently, "I am sure she is just tired." He says this but he looks unsure too.

"What if she isn't? What if my mom is sick?"

"I really doubt you mom is dying."

"But what if?"

"They would have said something and I am sure they wouldn't be dressed up to go to some party if that was the case."

"Yeah I guess. Can we watch Cinderella?"

Logan rolls his eyes and sarcastically says, "Yeah that is sure to be fun." I give him my puppy dog face but even I know that it won't work. "Not a chance Ambs. Can't we watch something funny?"

"Fine we can watch Grown Ups."

With a smile that should be on toothpaste commercial he says, "Sweet."

"What did you do at work?"

Showing me his how semi-black muscular hands he says, "Al made me do oil changes."

"You know you hands look really nice and manly."

Later that night when everyone was asleep, I sat on the kitchen stool eating milk and cookies with Rebecca's Box on my lap so I could debate whether I really wanted to know. A part of me is curious to know what happened to her and another part of me realizes nothing good could ever come from this because it can't change what happened.

"Hey Darling what are you doing here?"

I nearly jump off the stool when I hear my mom's voice. "Oh."

"Sorry didn't mean to scare you like that I just couldn't sleep."

I push over the milk and cookies. "Join the club."

"So why can't you sleep? Boy troubles?"

I hold my breath to keep from laughing. "No, not at all."

I expect mom to look angry but she seems to not care and doesn't even bother asking why. "So what is wrong then?"

I shrug my shoulders. Maybe I should just ask her. "M-mom. I-I ..."

"Yes?"

I open my mouth but then gulp. "I forgot."

She laughs. "Its okay when you remember you can ask me. Oh I forgot to tell you I liked what you where wearing today, you looked so cute."

I laugh. Okay maybe I can ask her. "M-Mom, What happened to Rebecca?"

"Oh." She says getting up and putting her plates away. "I always hate it when plates are left dirty in the sink. The food sticks to them and it's awful to take it off. "

"I totally hate that too." I say not really getting what she is talking about. "Mom? What about Rebecca?"

" You know I knew one day you would ask me this question. I mean you brother is your brother and he is not like you. You where always most sensitive to people. I knew you would never forget your sister. I mean who would? Rebecca was Rebecca. You know she had a sweet spot for you even when you guys where younger. When I was growing up with your auntie Cindy I don't ever think Cindy and me had the relationship you and Becca had."

"Well she was fabulous."

"Yes true and her fashion sense. Dear Lord it was amazing."

I start laughing. "It was amazing. I remember when she would get ready to go out I would sit and watch her get ready."

"Yup. Every Friday like clockwork you would come home watch TV with your brother and Logan and then at 6 you would run up to Becca's room and watch her get ready for a party or a date."

"So..."

"You know as great as your sister was she was never quite happy with her life. I tried to tell your father she needed to find her own path, but he didn't want to believe Becca. Did you know your sister got into Stanford with a full ride to study law?" I shake my head. "The day she came home and told me and your father we were so excited for her. Your father practically cried with joy. Your sister wasn't as thrilled to hear this news and I knew why. She didn't want to study law. She didn't know what she wanted but she knew college wasn't what she was looking for. I tried to explain to him but he didn't want to hear it. You know your father grew up with a tough childhood. Grandpa left your grandmother and your father when he was really young. Your father was oldest so he had to take care of the family. I think part of the reason he is always trying to get you guys to go to college is because he wishes to give you guys a chance and a luxury he didn't get. He had to work two jobs to stay in college. Every parent wishes their children don't make the same mistakes they did but I think your father sometimes forgets that mistakes are how you learn and it is your life. Like I know that you would much rather study art at the San Francisco Art Institute than to study law or medicine at Stanford but a part of me wishes you would go the safe way and choose something that is more reliable."

"You knew about my art? But you never said anything?"

"Honey, I am your mother. Don't you think I would know my own children? I was the one who gave birth to you. "

Eww. She is talking about my birth. I was much happier in my bubble were I had convinced myself a stork dropped me off at my parent's door step. "Well you never said anything, so how was I suppose to know?"

"Just because I am always traveling it doesn't mean I don't pay attention to you."

"I guess."

Mom jumps off her stool." Amber how about we finish this story another day since you have school tomorrow?"

"Okay." I say following her and giving her a hug. "Night mom."

I skip to my room and check my cell phone to see it is one in the morning. I wonder if Logan is still going to come over for a sleep over. No, he probably went to sleep already. I walk my box to my shelf and then turn around to see a big pile of blankets on my bed. I jump onto the pile. "Uhhh. Ambs?"

With a heart attack I ask, "Logan?"

With sarcasm he says, "Who else would be in your bed on the night of a sleepover?" I am about to snap at him when he opens his mouth again. "Ambi Bambi, Can you get off? You're crushing me."

I jump off of him and recollect my now overworked heart." Oh sorry. Did I hurt you? I didn't know you were in my bed. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I kind of figured you didn't know I was in your bed when you jumped on me."

"Right. Sorry. Even though you really shouldn't be hiding in my bed."

He shifts and moves so he is laying on the right side and me on the left. "Where have you been?"

I smile. "I was talking to my mom while eating cookies and milk."

"Fatty."

"So I like food? What is wrong with that?"

He laughs. "Nothing. What did you and your mom discuss?"

"Umm...Nothing. She was just telling me stories or whatever. I think I might ask her to come to my art show."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Turns out, she knew about it all along. I was sure she was oblivious."

Logan laughs, "Obviously she noticed. Your mom is obsessed with clothes. You think the studio that is hidden in your closet was really going to be hidden?"

"I guess I never thought of that." I say as Logan leans over me giving me a kiss on the lips. "Logan." Kiss. "I really..." Kiss. "Don't think...." Kiss. "This is a...." Kiss. "Good idea." He kisses me again and I am about to protest when he puts his finger over my lips.

"Sash... Less talking more kissing."

"But..." I never quite got to finish my sentence.
