48 Chapter 48
"You misunderstand, Your Excellency. I was only gifting the carriage to you. Didn't you say you like it?" Ezedius wiped off the beads of sweat that was going down his forehead. How could the bald immortal think that he was into him?
That would have been a disaster. Two men were incompatible. They would only cross swords in the end.
"His sword is bigger than mine." Ezedius thought after he glanced at the hanging third leg of the bald immortal. This bald immortal was certainly joking. If not, and he accepted what he thought Ezedius was offering then…
He gulped and stopped his contemplations there. The subsequent imaginings was definitely one he would rather die than live with.
"Oh. I see. Then why are you giving me a ring, my friend?" Quickstep asked in confusion.
"This is a storage ring, Your Excellency. The carriage we rode earlier is deposited inside this ring." Ezedius answered after almost ten breaths of pause. He was deciding what to say. Whether it was to state the obvious or call the stupid act this bald immortal was playing. In the end, he decided to do the former just to be safe.
"Really?! How do I use this?" Quickstep asked Ezedius. He was amazed at this magical ring. How could a tiny thing hold that huge flying house they rode a moment ago? It was unscientific, he thought.
"You only have to put it in any of your fingers and focus your mind into it, Your Excellency. Things can be taken out or stored inside that way." Ezedius replied to Quickstep. He continued indulging the bald immortal's fantasy.
"Wow! Is it like a magic trick?! Let me try." Quickstep reached for the ring and put it in his left middle finger. He tried to focus and saw the contents of the ring. There was really the flying house inside just like his friend had said it was.
He imagined getting it out and disengaged his connection with the ring. When he could see outside again, the three beasts and the flying house greeted his vision. He tried putting it inside back into the ring and the means of transport vanished once more.
"Hahaha! What a marvel! I love it!" Quickstep exclaimed after he experience using the storage ring for the first time. He thought about how much honey he could store within the ring. The size of the space inside was as big as a world. It was incredible.
"I'm glad you like my gift, Your Excellency." Ezedius remarked after he saw the elation on the face of the bald immortal.
"Hehehe! It's amazing, my friend! But I can't take this without something of the same value to exchange with you. Okay. How about a bottle? Hmmm. That would be too little for this grand creation. Two bottles of honey! Would that suffice?" Quickstep offered towards Ezedius. His face reflected how serious he was on the offer.
"No need, Your Excellency. It is a gift for a friend. I do not ask anything in return." Ezedius responded to Quickstep. He was used to the quirks of the bald immortal by now. All words that came out of its mouth would be taken at face value by him. It was also better to avoid headache that way, Ezedius decided.
