43 Chapter 43

"You overestimate your station, Rhixar!" Sect Master Octavio said and an Ancient Saber appeared before him. He slashed towards the ex-elder of his sect but the Sword of Eternal Rest barred the path of the Saber.

Two weapons clashed but within only a breath, the cursed sword of Rhixar was showing obvious signs of cracks. It was clearly outmatched.

"Cease your futile resistance, Rhixar! Your tragic end is inevitable!" Sect Master Octavio addressed his former sect elder.

"Thank you for everything you've done for me, Sect Master! I will never forget your kindness!" Rhixar said in goodbye towards the Master of the Divine Evil Sect. They have been together for thousands of years and to end this way, was a finish he never expected. He bowed his head low until his forehead touched the ground.

"Rhixar! Don't do it!" Sect Master Octavio yelled towards his junior. But deep inside, he wished for Rhixar to end his life. He could have already stopped the suicide attempt of his once fellow sect member with a simple show of force with his Peak Human Cultivation. Only a step away from becoming an immortal.

But he chose not to. Sect Master Octavio couldn't be that heartless towards a person he considered one of his best students. Thus, he wanted to give him a way out. It was the least he could do to his once student and later his close friend.

"Farewell, my master." Rhixar whispered and he finally let go of everything. He closed his eyes as he waited for the blast that would set him free from it all. To a new beginning, Rhixar hoped.

"Do you wish to die?" these were the words Rhixar heard after an indeterminate time of waiting. He opened his eyes once more to see that he was still well and very much alive. He could see that swirling winds were surrounding him which prohibited his black magic of self-destruction.

Rhixar could only assume that the source of his current dilemma was the fanning motion of this bald immortal's hand. He was influencing the elements of the wind with only using physical strength. Rhixar was horrified.

"What are you doing, fool!" Rhixar bellowed. He could not understand this foolish immortal ever since the moment they met. Even now, he would not even dream of trying to fathom what's inside its bald head. He was so close of attaining freedom but his release was blocked by this fool in the last second.

Rhixar could not accept it. He saw the fate of those souls in the Dungeon of Penance and he could not imagine the pain those souls were experiencing inside that jail of hell. This was a statement coming from an expert of inflicting damage upon captured souls.

The screams of the souls between his Sword of Eternal Rest and those within the Dungeon of Penance were incomparable. The treasure of the sect was on a whole different level than his cursed sword. There was no comparison at all.

"Taking your own life is against the Codex of Nature, my friend. Accept your fate with an open heart and at the end of tunnel, you shall see the light." Quickstep admonished Rhixar. He was quite pleased with his impromptu lecture.
