40 Chapter 40

"Hahaha! I'm Quickstep Littletoes of the Ant Race. Glad to be your acquaintance, Octavio! Let's be friends and not fight, okay? I don't like fighting. Nothing good ever comes out of it." Quickstep laughed and said to Octavio. This was the first human who had shown him respect.

It was a good feeling to have. He was tired of being hated and hunted by humans for no reason at all. Just like before, everything he had experienced with them were all bad things. It seems that some humans listened to reason before using their fists.

Quickstep was glad because he knew now that not all humans hungered for conflict.

"As you wish, Your Excellency!" Octavio hastily replied to Quickstep. His mind ran several deductions and their consequences within a breath. He thought that the immortal before him was a peculiar one. It might be one of those immortals who has eccentric personalities and favored to make jests on mortals.

Or he could also be telling the truth. This possibility was not to be completely neglected. But Octavio gave it a probability of less than 10 percent of happening. At least, this immortal promoted peace if his words were to be believed.

"Hehehe! Good. Why have you told me to stop? Do you know Rhixar?" Quickstep asked Octavio.

"Yes, Your Excellency. He's one of the elders of my Divine Evil Sect. I'm the current Sect Master. If Rhixar had offended your honorable self, please let him off just this one time Your Excellency. We will do everything in our power to repay your benevolence." Octavio replied to Quickstep.

"It's a lost cause, Octavio. Rhixar has been far gone into lunacy. It's too late now. Even I, his friend, can't bring him back anymore. You don't need to be sad. I will bear this sin on my own." Quickstep responded to Octavio. He shook his head from left to right as if to show his deep regret to everyone.

"Don't try to reason with this fool, Sect Master! He will only…" Rhixar interjected in a harsh voice but couldn't finish what he was about to say because he felt a force descended upon him. Even breathing was a luxury he was not afforded.

He fell once again to eat dirt on the earth. When he was at the last second before getting unconscious by the lack of air, the sweet taste of oxygen rushed towards both his mouth and nose to resuscitate him back to life.

"Pardon his insolence, Your Excellency. He has eyes but fail to see your celestial countenance." Octavio once again apologized in behalf of the elder of his sect. He just hoped that Rhixar would stop making it hard for him to find a peaceful solution. Dealing with this kind of existence was risky business.

If he opened his foul mouth and spouted bad words again against the immortal, he would be the one to personally end Rhixar's life. No one was worth more than the security of the sect. Even Octavio himself, would be easily replaced and would never be seen again if he would become a liability for the Divine Evil Sect.

There were the Ancients above him. The ancients were those who had served and had retired the position of Sect Master before him. No one was indispensable in this cruel world, Octavio agreed.
