30 Chapter 30

The sword and spear landed true to its objective. But what they skewered was not the angel anymore. A raging yellow phoenix replaced its position. The phoenix wailed in its death throes. Its pain was clear to all who heard its agony. Another second passed before its life force was completely gone. The phoenix died.

"The demon is dead, Ezedius. I will be taking care of its corpse now." Rhixar said to the chief of the city. He touched a ring he wore and a coffin came into existence to encase the carcass of the phoenix, away from the prying eyes of the masses.

"What happened to the demon, Rhixar? Why did it change form? It seems you were not completely truthful with me. Let me see its body!" Ezedius' curiosity rose because of the sudden transformation of the demon. He knows that monsters can transform to human form when they reach enlightenment stage.

But for a being to completely change into a new type of creature was a thing of legends. He was not going to let such precious mystery escape his grasp without even trying to know its truth.

"That demon is a criminal of the Divine Evil Sect, Ezedius. Are you willing to declare war on us?!" Rhixar threatened the city chief, Rhixar.

"Hahaha! For you? A Divine Evil Sect elder? I would think that once Sect Master Octavio hears about you associating with an assassin, he would without a doubt send your soul into eternal damnation, Rhixar." Ezedius said to Rhixar.

"That will not happen if all witnesses were to be eradicated, Ezedius." Rhixar said in a cold voice.

"You overestimate yourself, Rhixar. If your sect comes here together with your sect master, I would have no choice but to retreat. But you alone? And in my city? Hahaha! You will not live to regret your decision, Rhixar. Men! Assemble!" Ezedius shouted his order.

The fog has already dissipated. What sprung into picture were rows and rows of soldiers. Their discipline impeccable and their killing intent soared above the heavens. Each one of them would die for the protection of their city.

"Affirmative, host." This was the last words on Quickstep's ears before he succumbed once more to the dark embrace of death.

"Bouncing balls! Did I die again?!" Quickstep asked the system the moment he woke up. He remembered the pain as he was pierced by both sword and spear. This death seemed even more excruciating than the last. It was his third death already. I will not experience the pain of dying again, Quickstep vowed.

"Affirmative, host." The system replied.

"What's happening outside?" Quickstep asked the system after he heard the new notification.

"They are talking, host. Others have no movement." The system responded to Quickstep.

"I need to get out of here." Quickstep tried using his Fire Domain but he felt disconnected with his magic. He used brute force next but saw that it was also not effective. Quickstep was as weak as a kitten inside this binding coffin.
