26 Chapter 26
The war had consumed more than an hour already. The 3 o'clock sun was high in the sky. The battlefield has been littered with traces of destruction. The green forest was gone. Landscapes were changed. Yet the angel still lives and continued its resistance against the full might of the army.
"Let's stop this, friends!" Quickstep shouted to the humans before him. He still hasn't killed a single one of his attackers. Quickstep could have easily decimated the army aside from its leader which has almost the same level of strength with him.
He reasoned that he was not a murderer. He was not going to become like those two butchers who massacred his family. Thus, he could only dodge and control his power against his attackers.
"If you're serious about that, drop your weapons and wear this divine shackle!" the leader replied to the Angel.
"Hahaha! Do you think you can fool me? I am the most intelligent ant who ever lived! Your tricks will not work on me, human!" Quickstep retorted after his plea for peace did not work for the umpteenth time.
"Maybe I should just…" Quickstep did not complete his thoughts as he felt his body slammed into the ground. He tried to get up from the ground but was unable to even lift his head up. Even his eyes could barely move. It was as if something was pulling everything down. He could see nothing because his face was stuck on the earth.
"Thank you for giving me time to catch up with this criminal, Ezedius. I will be taking him with me." Quickstep heard the voice of the young boy.
"Bouncing balls! This crazy boy is here again!" Quickstep cursed the boy in his mind.
"You have no dominion over here, Rhixar! Go away!" The leader, Ezedius, bellowed towards the newcomer.
"Are you sure you want to fight me, Ezedius?!" Rhixar asked smiling towards the leader. Beside him was a hooded figure. Nothing can be seen from the mysterious person but only his hands. They were old and wrinkly. It could not be determined if it was man or woman.
This person was the one responsible for Quickstep's situation. One of its palms was raised towards the direction of the Angel where the ground also formed the same palm print.
"Who would have ever thought that a great elder of the Divine Evil Sect would employ cowardly assassins? You are a disgrace to your sect, Rhixar!" Ezedius despised the young boy. The Divine Evil Sect was feared because of their strength.
They were unrivaled in battle and challenged anyone who stood in their path. But they accomplished these deeds using their own hands. It was unheard of a Divine Evil Sect disciple, much less an elder to be seen breathing the same air with a member of the Guild of Assassins.
"Times are changing, Ezedius! You should go with the flo…" Rhixar answered back but was interrupted by a voice.
"Excuse me. Could I go now? You two can continue talking here, okay? I have things to do. See you all around." Quickstep was shining with white light. It surrounded his body, opposing the effect of the gravity magic cast by the robed assassin.
"So that's how it feels. No wonder humans love to do it. Hahaha!" Quickstep thought. He experienced for the first time in his life how to interrupt someone in the middle of their speech. It felt dominating.
