14 Chapter 14
"Show me th…" Quickstep was about to say something to the system but was interrupted by a big cat who came out of nowhere. It has dark vertical stripes on its red orange fur. He remembered that its name is Tiger because it was one of his collection of creatures before.
Quickstep recalled a Tiger that urinated and scratch his bark when he was still a tree. That beast would roar which made other animals stay away from its territory. The Tiger made Quickstep its home for a year before going off one evening to hunt. It never returned.
"Bou.. nc… ing… bal… ls… Go awa…" Quickstep stammered as the Tiger bit his throat. Its mighty forelimbs pushed Quickstep's body to the ground. The cat was now on top of Quickstep as it successfully wrestled its prey down. Quickstep tried punching the body of the Tiger but found it was ineffective.
The cat was taking the punches easily. Quickstep tried asking the system for help and turn once more into a stone but no words could escape his mouth. He was slowly suffocating. The more he struggled, the faster his strength was leaving his body.
Quickstep continued to put a struggle with his punches getting weaker after each throws. He felt so tired. His eyes were closed and he could not even move his head anymore. Tears fell down his face because of the pain he was feeling.
It was agonizing. He wished he could just let go and accept his fate. Am I going to die? Is this it?
"NOOO!!! I WILL MAKE THOSE MURDERERS PAY!!! FOR MY FAMILY!!! FOR MY CLAN!!!" Quickstep gathered what little strength he had left and raised his hands. He did not punch the Tiger this time but instead put them on its head. His fingers searching for a way in.
After two seconds, the eyes of the Tiger were bleeding but it still wouldn't let go of Quickstep's throat. It became a battle of wills as neither choose to give up. One merely wants something to eat in order to live. The other also only wanted to survive.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Quickstep heard the sweetest sound in his life.
"RRROOOAAAAARRRRR!!!" The Tiger sounded hurt as it could no longer tolerate the damage on its eyes. It got off from the source of its pain and hastily scampered away in defeat. The blind cat was gone after five breaths.
"Hee… allll… m.. e…." Quickstep addressed the system that remained a silent witness during the fight.
"Do you want to access the healing abilities of deviants, host?" the system said in its natural cold voice.
"Y..ee…sss…." Quickstep responded weakly to the system. His throat was crushed but he could still get a little air. He was gasping for air and hissing sounds could be heard from his windpipe. Taking a single breathe hurts.
"Affirmative, host." The system replied to Quickstep.
1. Augmented Regenerative Ability – this talent was possessed by one of the most powerful Deviants who ever existed. He was decorated in battle and his achievements exemplary. In the field, he was second to none because he heals as easy as breathing and can restore from almost all wounds.
This gift also makes him impervious to any toxin or poison. Old Nagi was…
"Th..a…t…." Quickstep said in a weak stuttering voice.
