8 Chapter 8

"Nice. It doesn't hurt as much. More of numbed feeling. What kind of tree is this?" Quickstep asked the system.

"It is Allocasuarina luehmannii (buloke or bull-oak), host. This tree produces that hardest wood among the Zero Tiered existences." The system replied to Quickstep.

"How long until I can be completely healed?" Quickstep asked the system. He saw his branches were broken and in his trunk were impact marks, abrasions and scrapes which were likely caused by the Cheetah.

"It would approximately take 100 years, host. Your tree body will seal the damaged tissue in order to decrease the chances of decay or infection from outspreading to healthy tissues," the system responded to Quickstep.

"That's too long! How could I catch up with those murderers if I stay here for a hundred years?!" Quickstep expressed his concern in exclamation.

"I have their magic signature on database, host. You can follow them whenever you wish," the system answered Quickstep in a calm unsympathetic voice.

"Okay. One hundred years is a long time. Do you know how to sing?" Quickstep asked the system. He wanted to find some way to pass the time with. He has always been busy all his life and the thought of being idle for one hundred years was inconceivable.

Although it would be a new experience but Quickstep believed that he would not like the monotony.

"Affirmative, host. I have every song record in this realm within the database. One shop point would be needed to play a song," the system said to Quickstep.

"What?! Even a song from you costs one shop point?" Quickstep was astounded by the system.

"Affirmative, host," the system replied to Quickstep.

"This is going to be a boring vacation," Quickstep said as he accepted his one hundred year recovery program.

A century has passed by swiftly together with the changing of seasons.

"Congratulations, host. You have fully recovered from your injuries," the system notified Quickstep after one thousand two hundred months and ten days.

"Finally! I never want to get injured! Ever!" Quickstep shouted as he was right on his guess. Being inactive for long periods of time was not for him. He almost gave up from his immovable form to make a transformation but the fear of pain was greater than his boredom so he chose to endure to this very day.

"I want to fly!" Quickstep said to the system. He was fed up with being unable to move and it was now time to unwind and explore the vast sky. He couldn't wait anymore as he had waited for this day for a very long time.

"Affirmative, host," the system replied. Quickstep then felt himself diminish in size until it stopped with a body length of 23 inches and a wingspan of 47 inches. He now weighed a thousand grams and has an overall color of slate grey.
