Fifteen minutes had elapsed when Quickstep approached the unaware Cheetah. He was within striking distance and was ready for the kill. But as he was poised to attack, his body coiled into position and rubbed sections of it together to make a sizzling warning sound.
This was a characteristic threat display of a Saw-Scaled Viper which proved the unraveling of his well-planned action.
"Bouncing balls!" Quickstep swore as his sharp fangs did not land true on its intended target. He has bitten the Duiker instead as the Cheetah was agile on its reactions to evade the sneak attack.

The Cheetah did not idle and proceeded to address this unexpected intruder. It bit at Quickstep's snake body mercilessly. The Cheetah was angry and punished Quickstep accordingly so.

"Bouncing balls! It hurts!" Quickstep howled in its snake voice as the Cheetah did not let go of his body. He also bit his attacker but was surprised that it only further intensified the biting force of the enraged Cheetah. Quickstep realized that his venom was not venomous enough.
"Bouncing balls! Help!" Quickstep said to the system.
"Do you want to transmogrify into a rock, host?" the system replied to Quickstep's call for assistance.
"Yes, yes, anything! Just make the pain go away!" Quickstep quickly responded. He could not take any more pain as he felt that part where the Cheetah was grinding its powerful jaws with was already torn into a mangled mess of flesh and blood.
"Affirmative, host," the system said to Quickstep. He then felt his body getting smaller until he transformed into a burned stone that dropped on the ground in a thud. The Cheetah was shocked after it saw the change of the intruder. It tried to nudge the stone but did not find any reaction from the stone.
The Cheetah, after recovering from the sudden disturbance, continued to latch on his weakened prey that was showing signs of recovery and movement. The Duiker saw the whole event. Its hope was gone as quickly as it came.
The Duiker had feed on insects, frogs, and other small species, as his food. Now another creature also considered him as prey. This was the life of animals, sad and unforgiving.
"Transmogrify completed. Congratulations, host. You now have 8 existences available to transmogrify," the system reported after the successful change of Quickstep's form.
"Bouncing balls! I will remember this pain well, Cheetah!" Quickstep roared inside as he vowed to punish that Cheetah for what it did to himself. He looked at his hated foe still in the process of taking the life of its prey.
"Why do I not feel any pain?" Quickstep asked the system after he regained his composure. He was surprised at the lack of pain when beforehand it was unbearable to the extreme.
"You are in rock form, host. The inanimate do not feel," the system answered Quickstep.
