55 Chapter 44

Evan POV:

Everyone walked up to the Castle Courtyard.

With stone walls surrounding us and an area which can easily hold a thousand people, the almost 500 soldiers felt extremely spacious now.

There were also huge tables with tons of different type of dishes. There was also tons of maids keeping tracks of the food I presume. Like keeping tabs on what needs refilling.

In the middle of the courtyard, there was a huge unlit bonfire.

[Alright Everyone! Let's Have A Feast!] (Daisy)

Every single soldier, Humans and also Elves shouted loudly and charged straight towards the food. Even Lucy and Oswald Charged Forward.

...... The maids are gonna have a hard time.

Even the flippen Captains are charging in to get food. Except for my man, Trish and that Rudolph guy who were staying with their Queens.

I might as well start my detective work with Elizabeth.

But I don't want to look casual and like some shady guy who's looking for answers.

Guh, who am I kidding? I'm a Smooth Criminal. I can handle these kinds of situations.

I walked up to the Queens who were happily chatting with each other. Beside Trish and Rudolph, Ruby and Tifa were also here.

[Yo Everybody. Looks like everything went well.] (Me)

[Ah, Evan. Everything has gone wonderfully well. I still can't believe that the hatred of everyone has slowly started leaving. It will take a while, but the first step has been taken. I guess I have to thank Daisy for that.] (Elizabeth)

[Me?] (Daisy)

[Your naiveness and innocence gave birth to something that I thought was impossible to do.] (Elizabeth)

[No No, I haven't done anything. I only had a wish but I was also stuck. It was Evan who helped us all.] (Daisy)

Why does everything revolve back to me?

Elizabeth nodded.

[True. Thank you once again, Evan. For saving us.] (Elizabeth)

Everyone else was listening to us.

[Nah, I only stated some of my opinions. You guys did the rest. Bravo for everyone who took part and let's leave it at that. Okay?] (Me)

I'm gonna try to stop this conversation here because I'm not that good with compliments.

The Queens chuckled and the rest smiled.

Okay, now how can I start a conversation which ends with her telling me about the old hero's stories while also making sure that she doesn't get suspicious of me being a hero too.

Why do I want to keep my identity a secret, you may ask? CUZ IM BATMAN.

No, its because they would keep telling me to do stuff and only rely on me for everything, which I don't want to happen.

Rudolph looked at me angrily and I don't blame him I would've done the same thing.

[Ten thousand and fifty four.] (Elizabeth)

Wow, She's old..... Or not? I have no idea about an Elf's lifespan.

I could see Tifa's shocked expression when she said that.

[Wow... I didn't think that you would answer that right away.] (Me)

Elizabeth chuckled.

[Well you didn't mean any harm by it did you?] (Elizabeth)

[Of course not.] (Me)

But still, Ten thousand and......

Wait a second.

[Hey Elizabeth. Do you happen to know something about the Neko Fox Race?] (Me)

All of a sudden, as if Elizabeth changed completely. From a loving mother figure to a worried and serious woman.

[Evan, there are some things-] (Rudolph)

Before Rudolph could say anything else, Elizabeth stopped him.

Ummm, I'm actually a bit scared now.

[It's alright, Rudolph.] (Elizabeth)

She took a deep breath.

[Excuse me everyone, but I want to talk to Evan about some things privately.] (Elizabeth)

Her behavior was a little bit startling for everyone.

I should Not have brought up my babies.

Elizabeth went ahead and I followed her to a corner where there was no one else.

[Firstly, How did you know about the Neko Wolves and the Tiger Fox tribe?] (Elizabeth)

She's really serious. This is like the time she tried to kill me.

And Flippen hell who? I know of Neko Fox not whatever you said.

[Ummm, I think we're both talking about different things.] (Me)

Elizabeth got confused.

[What?] (Elizabeth)

[I'm talking about the Neko Fox Race. Not uhh whatever you said.] (Me)

She went into deep thought.

[I don't know of that race.] (Elizabeth)

[Okay, I'll be clear now. I found two eggs half buried in the ground. And for some odd reason, I decided to take them with me. Then a few days later those eggs hatched revealing two cute little girls with cat-like ears and fox-like tails. After some further research I found out that they were cursed around 10,000 years ago and the curse made them not hatch.] (Me)

She grabbed my shoulders.

[YOU FOUND THE EGGS!?!?!] (Elizabeth)

After that, I listened to her lengthy story of childhood.

Apparently, there were two tribes called the Neko wolves tribe and the Tiger Fox tribe that went extinct around 10000 years ago.

They were one of the strongest race and even one of them could fight toe to toe with a dragon and quite easily win.

They were very neutral but highly competitive and for some reason hated each other. (Elizabeth did explain why but I'll just say that they're ancestors were huge jackasses and would always prank each other until one took it too far and killed the wife of the other. And from there on, revenge happened and they were hostile with each other.)

During Elizabeth's 50's. When she was pretty much a kid. A beaten up, married couple with two eggs (presumably theirs) landed on Elizabeth's father's kingdom.

The couple was surprisingly from both of those tribes. The father from the Neko wolves and the mother from the Tiger Fox tribes.

They fell in love with each other and secretly married without letting their tribe know and even got two babies. The tribes found out soon enough and those two ran away seeking shelter.

Obviously, Elizabeth's father let them in and also hid them. But soon enough, everyone found out that those two tribes were at war with each other and guess how they found out.

By getting caught in the crossfire.

The warzone was huge and besides Elizabeth's father kingdom, 3 more kingdoms were completely obliterated.

Fortunately, Elizabeth, the Neko fox's mother, and some more of the elves survived.

Unfortunately, Elizabeth's father, mother, the Neko fox's father and pretty much everyone else died.

The soldiers, captains and everyone else was having fun chatting and telling stories to each other.

We were alone at the corner of the courtyard and Elizabeth was silent.

Rudolph came before and gave us plates filled with food but Elizabeth and I both didn't have the appetite right now.

[...but, this doesn't explain why the eggs were cursed.] (Me)

[Soon enough, we found out that some of Neko wolves tribe had survived and found out about the mother. The mother was powerless to save her kids so she cursed them, she cursed them with last remaining life force she had. I still remember what she said during that time. "I curse you to never hatch and never reveal yourselves until someone of pure heart from this world comes for you." It looked like she hated them but she would rather kill herself than see any harm on her babies.] (Elizabeth)

Hmm ".....Until someone of pure heart from this world comes for you." Is that why they choose me? Cause I'm not from this world?

[...I'm sorry for your loss.] (Me)

[Don't be, it was a long time ago and as a queen, I have to leave the past behind.] (Elizabeth)

She took a bite of the whatever type of chicken that was on her plate.

[.....You're really strong. Now I think we should stop all this negativity and focus on the positivity. Look around, It's the result of your determination and the past is nothing compared to the present you have made. Now what do you say about joining Everyone else, they're probably worried.]

Especially since Sarah, Tifa and Rudolph kept looking here.

{Author Note: and thus Evan forgot about the mithril necklace.}

Elizabeth smiled again.

[Yea, you're right. We have to focus on the present.] (Elizabeth)

I nodded.

.... I think I'm forgetting something.

Oh, Yea!

[Hey Elizabeth I wanted to ask you about the necklace, did you made it for some heroes perhaps?] (Me)

{Author Note: ...or not.}

[Heroes? No, the world spirits awakened few hundred years ago and they blessed the world with special materials such as Cobalt, Mithril and much more. We somehow got our hands on some mithril and used that to make the necklaces.] (Elizabeth)

.....Wut?

I remember clearly that one of the heroes diaries said that they visited the Elven kingdom. Or had I misread?

[Hey Elizabeth... Are the World Spirits sleeping right now?] (Me)

[Yes, I even know exactly when the spirit removed all their blessing's and fell asleep. It was exactly on 30/6/994] (Elizabeth)

This World has clearly existed for more than few thousands of years THEN WHY THE HELL IS THE YEAR TODAY IN THE THOUSAND!?!

{Author Note: That's because the calendar was invented about a thousand year ago so the dates started from there.}

But there's something weird about this.... Isn't 30/6/994 exactly the time those past heroes went back home?

I used my archives ability and pulled the diary out to make sure and yep that was exactly the date when they went back home.

Elizabeth went back to the others who were worried about her and I was left deep in thought.
