13 Chapter: 9

Evan POV:

I started walking towards the east gate.

The sun was shining brightly above me as I was looking around and this place really is the slums. There's a dirty sewer like smell around and the houses are dirty and really needed maintenance there aren't even any inn's here. I can sometimes see kids with ripped clothes running around. Some are just sitting down not even moving, just observeing their surrounding.

(I want to do something about this. But I myself am too poor for anything.)

I clenched my fist a little bit.

(Well getting money is not that hard I can stay in this kingdom for a while too.)

My thoughts were broken when I heard a familiar word

[...reid?]

(Reid?.....reid. I know that name don't I?)

My status came in front of me.

Name: Reid Sord (Evan Langford)

(Oh yeah that's the one.)

I looked behind me to see who said that. And there was a 15-year-old looking girl in front of me. She was wearing a long dirty cape that reached the ground. She also looked really pretty despite the dirt on her face and had silver hair like mine but it was also dirtied and big sparkling blue eyes also like mine.

(A silver daemon?)

[REID!] (Girl)

She screamed and ran towards me crying before hugging me.

Under normal circumstances I would've moved out the way. But not when someone is looking for a shoulder to cry on.

She buried her face on my chest while crying and because of the height difference she only reached till right below my chest.

If I was a lolicon then I would've been ecstatic about it. Thankfully I'm not one.

She just kept on crying and mumbling something while hugging me

I tried to hold her in my arms and went into an alleyway so that this doesn't cause a scene.

Now that no one is around I let her cry until she calmed down. She couldn't stand straight so I sat down too.

(She called me Reid. And my status also tells me I'm Reid...wait, is that why I'm in a different body?)

I started to sweat a little bit

(Did I possess someone named Reid?)

My thoughts were interrupted by the girl again who was trying to talk while crying.

[I really.....thought you died. *sniff* where were you?] (Girl)

The girl looked at me with tears and snot on her face.

(Okay, how do I do this?)

I suddenly remembered a teaching from my senior about lying.

"Sometimes the best way to lie is, to tell the truth. The other person will think it's a lie and then you can lie as much as you want."

Well here goes nothing.

[I don't know.] (Me)

[Wha-] (Girl)

[I woke up a few days ago in the middle of nowhere and I couldn't remember anything.] (Me)

[No way! You have amnesia!?] (Girl)

[I was almo- wait what?] (Me)

[You don't remember who I am?] (Girl)

[Uhhhhhh.........no?] (Me)

She tried to wipe away the tears from her face but ended up crying more.

I finally patted her head and gave a warm hug.

[It's alright. I'm here. You must've been through a lot, right? Don't worry. let it all out.] I said in the most gentle way I could.

She finally took it all out and started to really cry a lot for some minutes. Until she finally calmed down.

She looked at me again but this time with Bright Eyes.

[Welcome back Reid *sniff* it's me Luna, Princess Luna.] (Luna)

Nani?! A Princess?!

{Author note: nani means "what"}

[Princess?] (Me)

[You must have a lot of questions but first, we need to hide, They're still pursuing us.] (Luna)

Wait What?

[Who is Persuing us?] (Me)

[I am.] (??)

I quickly looked towards the voice and there was a guy with a giant scar on his left eye and Amber colored eyes. He was wearing iron armor.

[Ah! You're that Salty Guy from the inn!] (Me)

[IM NOT A SALTY GUY! MY NAME'S LENARD!] (Lenard)

[You see Luna? That's one way to get someone's name out of him.] I looked at Luna while saying that.

[You bastard!] (Lenard)

He said angrily clearly doesn't like being played with.

Luna held onto me while trembling.

She's really terrified.

[We have to run] She said really quietly while trembling.

Meanwhile, Lenard took out a meter long metallic sword out of nowhere. It was a double edge sword that looked silver with a hint of green.

That's a tungsten sword I believe.

[You gave me this scar on my eye right here. So I'm here to cut you down.] (Lenard)

[That pun didn't quite 'cut' it out for me. you got anything more 'sharper'?]

...I laughed way too hard at my own joke.

{Author note: That wasn't even remotely funny.}

[Funny guy, huh.] (Lenard)

...He looks pissed. But it made me laugh more.

[I have my subordinates surrounding this place. There's no way you can run away now!] He said while being really pissed

From the top of the buildings, some people came out with bows in their hand.

[Surrender now and give us the girl.] (Lenard)

Luna was terrified and trembling. Maybe because she realized that I don't know her and would just give her away.

[Don't tell me!] I pointed to Lenard as I acted like I realized something.

[You're a pedophile!] (Me)

[IM NOT A PEDOPHILE!!!] (Lenard)

[Then what do you want to do with such a cute little girl?] (Me)

[WE NEED HER AS A SACRIFICE! THAT'S WHY!] (Lenard)

I just stared at him for a few seconds.

[And That's how you get info out of someone.] I said with a grin

[You.....Bastard!] (Lenard)

He grasped his sword handle more tightly.

[That's it! You're gonna DIE!] (Lenard)

[No u.] (Me)

I pushed Luna away after finding out that they need her and won't hurt her.

Lenard charged at me with his sword held high. Time slowed down a little bit and I took out my zombie arm.

Just as he got in range I used the new magic skill imbuement (w/wand of sparking) on high rise.

The zombie arm I had caught on fire and with an upward slash. Fire Sparks flew everywhere as I hit Lenard

He was set on fire and launched up. While he was flying I dual-equipped both my shotgun and shot him mid-air

After all that his health bar was only halved and slowly decreased because of the fire. Someone shot an arrow at me but I took out my wooden sword and tried to block it. The arrow hit my sword and bounced up and Before it hit the ground I tried to hit it.

Alright! Skills, Get!

The fire finally burnt out of Lenard and he was left with 1/4 of his health. While looking very burnt.

[Geez, you look so much better now. I'll take everything you have as payment. Doing makeup is not an easy job] (Me)

[I WILL KILL YOUUU!!!!] (Lenard)

[Not much of a talkative type I see.] (Me)

He charged at me again.

....hasn't he learned his lesson yet?

I stood straight and waited for him to get close. When he finally swung his sword at me I shifted to the side and dodged him.

[Missed me.] (Me)

[ARRRHHH] (Lenard)

He tried to hit me so many times but I kept dodging like this.

[You suck at this Lenard.] (me)

[ARRHHHHHH] (Lenard)

[I don't know that language pal.] I said as I dodged another slash.

His friends also couldn't shoot otherwise they would just hit Lenard too.

[LET ME HIT YOUUUU!!!!!] (Lenard)

[No.] I said as I took out my book stick and shot him again.

A smudge of his health was left........Oh? He collapsed.

I looked at his friends and they started to shoot. Probably seeing their leader has died, They had nothing to hold then back now.

[REID!] (Luna)

Luna cast a magic of some kind and a huge ice shield was formed above us. I could hear the arrows hitting the top part of the shield.

[We have to Run! Now!] (Luna)

[I know of a place! Follow me!] I said as I grabbed Lennard who was unconscious and put him on my shoulder like a sack of potatoes and held Luna's hand with my other free hand and ran towards the adventurer guild.

(3rd person POV):

On top of the buildings in the slums, there were few hooded persons who were looking at an ice shield below them. The shield was so cold that it was releasing an icy cold blue mist.

[Tch. They got away again.] One of the hooded person holding a bow said.

[What should we tell the boss?] The other hooded person said

[That we don't have her! The elf festival will start any day now and we can't be late!] The 1st hooded person said Before they all ran away.
