24 Custody of the culprit!
Today was an important day as Aaron had to present his binding contract in front of his father and he was completely prepared for it.
The array formation had turned out a lot better than what Aaron wanted or hoped it would be. The biggest aspect of this improvement was naturally due to his upgraded skills to Master Rank.
Aaron had previously taken into consideration that he would be able to upgrade his skills but not directly to the master rank. At best he had hoped to have enough UDP to upgrade his skills to practitioner rank. Before he had only considered that he would have something around a thousand UDP before the end of the week's time that he had promised his father. But unexpectedly he had earned a few thousand UDP almost too easily.
This changed everything for him and his binding formation. A formation made by the master of formation was not something that was very easy to have hands-on. The complexity of the formation now surpassed the capabilities of even the most talented, prominent, influential and innovative formation masters of the empire. The reason being, Aaron had used the foundation formation that he personally created and at each and every step of the way he would have the system and Julia to his aid. The alleged teleportation formation had also been a great influence on the final product of which both Aaron and Julia were very proud of. Julia also gained a lot of benefits from working on this formation together with Aaron.
The reason why Aaron had only considered it to be a Practitioner level formation before was that it was sufficient to bind the people who it would be used on. The contract would not be broken or be taken advantage by anyone under its binding effect. But now all that had changed not only was there any chance of anyone bypassing the contract, but it would also be too difficult for a single formation master to study and understand its complexity without the books from Rose's office much less replicate it in a few years of time would be a pipe dream. These books were definitely special and not something that would be found in other people's repositories. These books were easily a few millennia old and were gathered by Rose or the Avron family over centuries. The possibility of someone else being in possession of something similar was close to being nil.
The only things left was to test this binding formation on someone and naming the formation.
This formation was something Aaron had created based on the Slave contract and Summoned beast contract. He had used these two types of formation as a base and created an alternative version which was much better, effective and complex.
The Slave contracts in the empire are enforced on criminals so these type of contracts are very oppressive and forceful in a lot of aspects. Slave contracts are made for a different duration ranging from one year to lifetime (till death) for severe criminals.
The Summoned beast contract was a bit more lenient in regards to this. It was more of a mutual agreement between both the parties and the status quo was that of a partner or companion unlike the former. Summoned beasts would also have complete control of with whom they would like to have a contract with. These contracts were usually for life so the beasts would be more cautious and picky making it difficult to get them easily. This contract was not oppressive or forceful like the Slave contract. If the Slave contract were to be considered to fall under the black area then the Summoned beast contract would fall in the white area.
The binding contract that Aaron had created was inspired and modified version of both of these contracts. He took the most useful aspects and features of them, fusing into the newly created formation to make something that was as strict as a Slave contract when implemented and was more consensual to the person.
Another great thing about the contract was that it could be used infinitely because Aaron had made the contract so that he didn't have to make them every time a new person it was to be used on. The contract could be used by supplying a large portion of mana or by using beast cores for it. The latter was a more viable option for them to be used for large numbers of people.
Aaron didn't delay any more and went directly to Alan's office. As he entered the room he saw Uncle Josef standing next to a handcuffed man who was kneeling before his father. The cuffed man was wearing expensive clothing and his facial features were very good. He currently had no expression on his face as he bowed his head downwards.
Aaron didn't know who this man was or why he was being cuffed, continued to walk inside the room.
"Aaron, look who we found this morning, he's the culprit behind the murders happening in the province recently," Alan said looking in Aaron's direction.
"Oh! so it's him? Great! The formation I told you about is ready. I was just wondering who to use it on to check if it's working properly or not. It's fine to use it on him, right?" Aaron asked.
"It's done? Let me have a look first. Show it to me." Alan asked rubbing his hands together.
Aaron passed the formation to Alan, Alan started to inspect it carefully. He was not a formation master but he had seen enough to identify real and fake ones apart.
While Alan was busy inspecting the contract formation Aaron walked in front of Uncle Josef with a smile on his face and greeted him.
"Good Morning, Uncle Josef how have you been?"
"Good Morning, Young Prince I have been well. Thank you for asking. How is your training progressing?" Josef asked Aaron,
"It's been great!..." Aaron was interrupted by the systems notification inside his head. He learned a few more details about this incident from the system.
His attention turned towards the man who's both hands were cuffed together by special handcuffs that restricts mana and hinders sudden movements.
"What is your name?" asked Aaron.
The man who was looking at the floor all this time lifted his head slowly to look at Aaron. He stared at Aaron stupidly as if not understanding the question.
Aaron also looked into the eyes of this person, but all he saw was emptiness. There was nothing but void. It felt like a man who was already on death's door, he no longer seemed to care about the mundane world or what the future holds.
"What's up with him? Is he unable to speak?" Turning towards Josef he asked.
"He has been like this for half an hour, he can speak alright. When I went to capture him he was laughing like a maniac and then suddenly started crying later on. He has confessed to the crimes but he hasn't told us how he did it." Josef said staring at the man on the ground.
"Hmm, ... If you want to know why and how he did it then there is no problem. I have a hypothesis for it. I believe it to be quite close to what actually happened. How about it? Do you want to hear it?" Aaron said looking at Josef and the man on the ground one after another. As if asking both of them.
"Your clues helped a lot in tracking him down, so please go ahead I'm listening," Josef said.
Alan had finished his inspection and was now curiously listening to their conversation without interpreting them.
"You see, he and his now dead colleagues were involved in something very shady, in a mild way I can describe it as 'human trafficking'. Something happened between these people or at least between him and the others. For some reason, this guy felt a sudden 'enlightenment' and wanted to turn over a new leaf. He decided to start a new life putting everything related to the shady businesses behind him. But he knew a lot of things which made the others 'insecure' and 'paranoid' as they took drastic measures against him. These people wanted to get rid of him and his family, this happened when he was away from home so he escaped their schemes they were hoping to end this completely and staged a fake robbery or something similar. His family was obviously massacred when he returned to find out what had happened he wanted to immediately get rid off all of them. So he came up with a dark elaborate and eloquent plan to kill them all one by one for revenge." Aaron explained.
