23 Formation Master
Aaron's new schedule now was training, working on creating the binding contract within a week, and learning Alchemy from Hana.
His training happened under the supervision of the trainer. His trainer was an old man who didn't even have teeth left in his mouth, he had a residing hairline, a thin body and a cracking voice which was difficult to understand, however, this old man was definitely the best trainer in the empire one could hire.
Although he was not the most talented nor the strongest man of the empire, he was the most skilled in teaching and grooming young seedlings into a master swordsman. His most remarkable aspect was that he was from a special lineage of sword trainers. His family could be easily considered one of the oldest families in the empire excluding the Imperial family and the Ancient families.
Aaron and the old man were in the building where he had killed his first beast. Aaron was standing in front of another beast today, the old man was standing only a few metres away from him.
Currently, the beast was on the ground, its eyes had rolled back as it had lost consciousness. Its body was covered in wounds of slashes made by the sword all over its body. It was bleeding from all its wounds, even though it didn't make a pool of blood or the like. The ground was still stained by its blood.
Standing at the distance, the old man had no special reaction to this scene. However, his eyes were fixed on Aaron's back.
He had been flabbergasted when he learned that his next student would be a White-grade talent.
He was contacted about a year ago that he was going to be training the Young Prince of the Avron family. It was a standard procedure for his family. The training period would last from three to five months depending on the person. He was aware of the great reputation of the Avron family, being a swordsman himself, he looked up to this family where peerless swordsman would take birth. He envied and wished he could be born in this family.
In the beginning, he didn't dare to believe in this rumour of such an assessment but as a day went by, he also learned that this was indeed true from multiple sources.
When he first came to the Avron Estate, he was told by the Lord that he had to stand next to the Young Princes as he battled the weak beasts. At first, he was baffled. Soon however he saw something that made him rub his eyes to make sure it was not his old age getting to him and seeing hallucination.
The Young Prince in his sight started to swing his sword in the air, at first it was random, then it became quicker. Slowly, his moves became sharper. Then, only after a few dozen slashes and swings of the sword, he started moving in a restricted area.
Each move would become more swift and powerful. His movements also got better and better, at this point, the old man thought that maybe he had seen something inconvincible.
He was someone who had trained dozens of new students each year. He had seen how each one of his students would improve and become more skilful at handling the sword and manoeuvring it over a course of weeks or months. But today he saw the same thing happening in just a few dozen slashes and swings, what kind of sorcery was this? how was this happening?
He could understand if it was someone who had been on the bed due to injuries or other reasons for a long period and was now a little rusty with using the sword. But in front of him was a five-year-old child, how can he be rusty with the sword? he had probably never got familiar with the sword, right?
In the empire, it was a common practice to let children start wielding weapons at the age of five after their assessment. As it was first done with models or blunt versions of the weapons it still had a possibility of getting hurt.
Even this common practice was throw out of the window. The Young Prince to his surprise and horror was wielding a High-grade weapon in his hand swinging and slashing as if it was a toy.
A weapon of this calibre could cut apart metal things as if it was a hot knife passing through butter. A weapon like this could easily cut off limbs of a Rank B beast if it didn't resist it. Seeing such a weapon in his hand which would be the worst nightmare of any parent, he was speechless.
As time went by the old man slowly got used to these things.
He had a really deep impression of Aaron, he was someone with mediocre talents which made him jealous of Aaron. But with his age and experience, he had been able to get over his jealousy.
He thought that maybe if he could teach everything he knew about swords he could see someone terrifyingly strong in the future. This would also become the pride and great achievement of his life to be able to guide such outstanding talent to its peak. His own legacy!
So he made up his mind and pointed out even the most minute and seemingly insignificant mistakes. To which the Young Prince never complained and immediately made necessary corrections and rectified his mistakes. This made the old man even happier. A duo of a great teacher and talented student was something rare to come by.
Usually, all these royalties and nobles were arrogant and haughty. It was a tedious endeavour to teach them anything. When he found someone who was talented and also listened to everything he said, how could the old man not be pleased and excited to teach more?
"Young Prince, at first I didn't understand why you were trying to fight these weak beasts but this is indeed a great idea to polish one's skills. These beasts are not stronger than you so it is a fair fight. If I were to say that you have created a very unique way of improving your swordsmanship that is most effective during the early stages it would not be a false statement. People don't train in this manner, at least I have never seen anyone do it like this. " The old man said.
The old man was indeed accurate in his theory but Aaron was not just trying to level up his swordsmanship. He was also gaining experience points through all these battles for the past six days. Just now he had received the notification of his swordsmanship skill had levelled up once. He was also close to levelling up again.
"Yeah, didn't think it would be this effective myself, I can feel my sword skill has levelled up. Bring out the last beast for today and we will end today's training here." Aaron replied with a smile.
"Alright!" The old man said.
After he battled the next beast for a few rounds he finally levelled up to level 5². He was awarded a whopping 5,600 UDP for it.
He had taken note of all his gained points through the 'Achievements \u0026 Awards' tab. The rewarded points till level 4² was a total of 1100 UDP(2+4+7+11+16+23+32+45+68
+88+119+137+159+181+208). He was able to confirm that he received points for his resulting strength of level 16. He also received points for every 5,000 stockings that were sold. More than 2.5 million stockings had already been sold. He was awarded 500 UDP for it.
Next, when he levelled up again he got another nine levels worth of UDP(240+278+320+394+482
+628+758+984+1,516) totalling to 5,600.
Aaron didn't expect to earn so many points from levelling up. The points awarded to him kept increasing with every level, he didn't find any other pattern to his new earnings.
With the total of 7,200 UDP Aaron immediately upgraded his Array formation skills to Master Rank from the Beginner Rank.
This cost him 100 UDP to reach Apprentice Rank, 500 UDP to reach Practitioner Rank and 2,500 UDP to reach Master Rank.
At first, Aaron had not considered the possibility of earning such great rewards so easily. So now, with this new knowledge that he would get UDP this easily, he didn't mind spending them at all.
After the purchase, Aaron immediately went to his room to go through the binding contract that he had readied with the help of system and Julia. Now he was a Master of Array formations he had much better insights and vast knowledge of different formations. He made more tweaks to the contract's s formation.
This was a very weird feeling, just a few hours ago he was at Beginner Rank and now he had become a Master in the same skill. He didn't even have to work for it as this was like doing nothing.
The best thing was that he could easily point out each and every flaw that was present in his formation making it jump grades in quality. People in the empire would go out of their minds if and when they learned that there was a five-year-old boy who was a Formation master. Even someone in their late eighties would not dream to become a formation master after decades of hard work and rigorous practice.
