20 Levelling up
Next day,
Aaron woke up in his room, he had the same dream he had yesterday but it was much milder than yesterday. It didn't feel like a nightmare, just a normal dream.
Aaron tried to find more about this weird dream but his efforts brought no fruitful results.
This dream made Aaron very curious but he could just not figure out a way to understand this dream. Every time he would try to focus on the faces or voices of the women standing in front of him in the dream he was assaulted with piercing pain in his head. Helpless with no more options Aaron just continued to go through that dream. He felt that this dream was very important or he would have not had such an extreme reaction that he had yesterday.
Getting dressed he went to have breakfast with his family.
At the dining room, he was surprised to see that only Alan was present. Walking forward Aaron took his seat.
"Good morning, Dad." Aaron greeted Alan.
"Good morning, are you ready? You know what I'm talking about right?" Alan said with a smile.
"Yeah, I'm ready. Where is everyone?" Aaron said as he turned his head in different directions to look for others.
"They should be here soon, you came early today, actually. Didn't sleep well or just excited?" Alan asked Aaron.
"A little bit of both I guess. How's the investigation going? Any leads?" Aaron asked with not much interest.
"Yes, Josef was very thankful for your advice by the way. He has narrowed down the next targets of the murderer. He also wanted your insights if you are willing to." Alan said.
"I don't really know much about it," Aaron said and saw Alan's expression change as he tilted his head as if saying 'really you don't', so Aaron continued "Anyways, I think Uncle Josef will be able to catch him soon."
Aaron didn't lie, he really didn't know who the actual killer was. He had never seen him in his previous life, so it was not possible for him to help anymore. He already said everything he knew about the incident yesterday.
"Alright, then," Alan said.
He wanted to ask further but he restrained himself. It was early morning, he didn't want to discuss such a topic during a meal.
"Good morning, Alan. Oh! Aaron, Good morning to you too." Hana walked in holding Alfie in her arms. He still looked a bit sleepy.
"Good morning, Mom. Alfie seems still half asleep." Aaron said.
"He didn't sleep on time yesterday. He kept asking if he would also have a White grade talent for swords or not. He spent half the night on the bed being restless. It took me a lot of effort to make him sleep." Hana said.
"Good morning everyone. You don't say. Aoife also kept asking the same question to me. It's not like I can tell her what her assessment would be like." Julia entered the room with Aoife in her arms she also looked sleepy and said to Hana. She turned to Aaron and said. " Why don't you predict their assessment, Aaron? You did it for her, right?"
"Hey, who are you talking about?" Hana immediately asked.
"It's no one, she is just making things up! Right, Mom?" Aaron said as he glared at her.
"Oops! Yes, yes nothing like that happened." She placed a finger on her lips and said. She was definitely trying to make this topic suspicious.
"Come on tell me!" Hana also immediately understood her intentions.
"Well... Do you know the little Princess who you went to diagnose and treat a while back? It was her, she said she was nervous about her assessment and Aaron predicted it for her." Julia said as she kept glancing at Aaron who just sighed and said nothing so she elaborated.
"Yeah, I know her...sigh, I wish I could help her. But did you just say randomly what her aptitude would be?" Hana asked.
"He said she is going to be a water mage like her mother... I read your lips." Julia said and explained the last part as if guilty.
"I didn't say random things to her, she will indeed be a water mage like her mother. Alright, Alfie will have a peak-Red grade talent for swords and Aoife will be a fire and water mage. That's one thing for both end of discussion." Aaron said.
Both the sleeping Alfie and Aoife immediately perked up their ears to listen. So did everyone else.
"What if you are wrong? You can't get away after saying it, you know." Hana said.
"Yeah, what if your prediction goes wrong? You won't be like those scammers on the street and say it was just a possibility, right?" Julia added.
"Nope, I guarantee it!" Aaron said confidently.
"I will have a peak-Red grade talent for a sword? It won't be white? I want it to be white, just like big brother's." Alfie said sadly and complained.
"Don't belittle yourself, Alfie. These assessments are to see possible potential not a limiter to your growth and future accomplishments. So don't be disappointed, even if I have a white grade talent if I don't work hard then it would mean nothing." Aaron said as he smiled warmly towards Alfie. Alfie looked at his big brother's warm smile and smiled back.
"Aaron is right, you have to work hard. Just having outstanding talent won't make you invincible. Don't dwell too much on the grade of your talent. Having ordinary talent is not necessarily a bad thing, at the same time it is not a good thing to have high talent but not able to reach utilise it completely. I don't know what your talent will be regardless of it you won't be allowed to slack off in your training in future." Alan said looking at all three of them.
"I'll train with big brother," Aoife said excitedly.
"Me too!" Alfie said with great enthusiasm.
"Then both of you pay attention to your big brother's training. It will give you a head start in understanding things. I will remind you that training hard will definitely bring results but don't be reckless and do anything that will be harmful to you in the long run. Especially you Aaron I know you have been very patient all this time but don't become hasty and ruin things now." Alan reminded.
"I'll be careful" Aaron replied.
"Alright, then let's get you level up," Alan said.
Alan, Aaron and everyone finished their breakfast and went downstairs.
The Avron estate was very large, based on earth's way of measurements of the area it would easily contain a small city of a few million people.
The Avron estate was not just large it had many buildings of types. Each building was reserved for a different purpose. There were buildings were new recruits based on their aptitudes.
The building that Aaron and his family were headed towards was the place were captured beasts are imprisoned. Some of these beasts were used for various purposes, from medical applications to military mounts.
Aaron would be killing his first beast, it would be done under controlled conditions. The beast would be completely restrained with no movements.
Not everyone in the empire would be fortunate enough to level up in this manner. Commoners would have to go in the wild to find these beasts, it would also not be safe without enough preparation and support of someone it would be asking for death.
Only the nobles would have captured beasts in their possession but the ancient families were only breeding these beasts. Breeding these beasts was very expensive and required a lot of care and supervision.
Nonetheless even the Ancient families would not have a high ranked beast captured. Even the weakest of them would require constant supervision over them.
Right now, Aaron was standing in front of one of the beasts, it was completely retrained. But the beast was struggling constantly to break free from the chains. These chains were specially forged to restrain beasts. This beast had thick fur and fierce features. It looked like a Hyena but was five feet tall and seven and a half feet in length.
Aaron looked at the beast, the beast was a Rank C beast. It looked very furious and it had a bloodthirsty aura. Its eyes were staring at Aaron with hate.
Aaron unsheathed his sword and slowly walked closer to the beast. The head of the beast was tied to the ground, Aaron put his right leg on its head and whispered slowly.
"You are the first beast I will kill on my path to be the strongest and invincible in all of creation and existence. I'll remember your sacrifice today." Aaron said. He held the sword with both his hands and placed its tip right between its eyes. He applied pressure the sword went inside as if a fork was being used while eating fruit.
This spot was its weakest part of its skull, after penetrating the skin it felt no resistance at all. The sword was short but it easily reached all the way to its lower jaw.
The beast struggled continuously, and let out miserable screech and roars constantly. Only when the sword was inside for a whole two minutes did the life in its eyes dimmed.
With the death of the beast, the system's notification rang in Aaron's head. Hearing the contents brought a wide smile on Aaron's face.
