14 Unprecedented Swordsmanship Talen
All the people continued to converse with one another. Since this was a talent assessment everyone discussed and compared one genius with the other.
"The young master from the Rictor family has an early-Yellow grade affinity to spears! Also, he has a special physique for ice magic. Needless to say, he is an Ice mage. Truly a talented young man of the new generation." one of the nobles said in a louder than necessary voice.
"That's fine and all but an early-Yellow grade affinity to any weapon is quite common among the noble families much less an Ancient Family like the Rictor Family." another man interjected and continued "Still having a special Ice Mage Physique is rare indeed."
"You guys are slow on intake, the young Miss from the Hartington family has a peak-Yellow grade affinity towards Archery. Just a little more and it would have been an early-Orange grade affinity." a pretty and charming yet hot woman amongst the nobles said.
"You are all just comparing a caterpillar with the beauty of a butterfly, today we are at the Avron family's Talent Assessment. No one in the Avron family has ever had an affinity lower than a peak-Orange grade. Lord Alan had a peak-Red Grade affinity to swordsmanship, that's the highest assessment recorded in the history of the empire for the past five hundred years. Also, the one who had a similar talent was also from the Avron family. So you talking about early-Yellow and early-Orange grade during an assessment of someone from Avron family could be considered an insult to the great reputation of geniuses from their family." A Middle-aged man in the group said while he belittled their short-sightedness.
The young nobles kept silent after hearing the middle-aged man.
"It is true that Lord Alan is a genius that is hard to come by even in multiple centuries, but it is difficult to say whether or not the first prince of the Avron family would be comparable to Lord Alan's Talent that year." another middle-aged man retorted.
"A valid remark, however even if Young Lord Aaron is to have talent inferior to Lord Alan it would still not be anything lower than a peak-Orange grade." the previous man commented.
While everyone was making their own case more justified than the others. An old man with a scholarly appearance stood up from his chair as he started making his way to the centre stage.
Many people had their attention distracted from their discussions, as one by one they looked at the old man walking towards the stage. Soon everyone else also focused their attention on this old man.
After reaching the stage the old man stopped, he didn't climb up the stage. He looked at the esteemed guests in front of him, as he concluded to have their undivided attention he said.
"Well, Good Morning to everyone here. My old self is but a Headmaster of the Imperial Academy! Today, I will be the one overseeing the proceedings of this assessment. As everyone might be well aware of all the talents that the illustrious Avron Family has produced over the countless generations, one must wonder just what is it that makes this family standout the most would be? A Mage? A Swordsman? A Master Enchanter? A Master of Array Formations? A Heavenly Alchemist? And the answer to all these questions is a simple and straight forward 'YES'. The Avron Family is the one who has had talents in almost all grand works of life. Think of a profession and you will find a predecessor of the Avron family leave their glorious name in that field. The contributions that are made by all these seniors to our empire are tantamount to giving a second life to our empire time and again. It is today my pleasure and honour to be able to be here in front of you all to welcome another such genius who will most likely leave his name in the hearts of all the people of our Great Empire!"
Everyone listened to the old man's words with interest and complete silence. This old man was the empires most respected, elder. He is someone under whom, every current Family Head of all the noble families grew up and trained.
Today, hearing this old man praise the Avron Family as high as the sky, people had different opinions about it. However, no one dared to make any type of disrespectful comment towards him.
While everyone was listening to what the old man was saying, Aaron and his family had reached the hall.
Seeing this old man who was not supposed to be present here today. Aaron was baffled by his presence. As if enlightened by something he looked towards Julia with a penetrating glare.
"It was Hana's idea!" Julia immediately took the opportunity to get a clean chit.
Aaron looked at Hana, she just smiled helplessly. He understood that this was completely Julia's doing. He smiled and shook his head. He was happy that Hana and Julia asked headmaster to come here for his assessment today.
Aaron did not know that the old man was here to fulfil his end of the bargain. When Hana and Julia had decided to give in the resignation the old man was dumbfounded. He had thought that someone had said or done something to them, he was furious! He asked them the reason. As he listened to the explanation he understood the matter.
However, he could not let either of them resign. Both of them had been an excellent student of his in the past, now however these two young ladies had become excellent instructors in the academy. So, he came up with the idea of making them both special lecturer at the academy. But Julia was still not convinced by his persuasion.
Later, she came up with a difficult condition for him to abide that was to come to Aaron's assessment as an overseer. Julia had firm reasons and facts to believe that he would decline her condition. The Headmaster surprisingly had actually agreed to it after some thought. Finally, both of them settled for leave of absence rather than resigning.
"Headmaster, you humble and consequently bring pride to my Avron Family! I welcome everyone today for one reason and the only one, to bear witness to my son, Aaron's Talent Assessment. Aaron is my pride and I have great expectations from him today! Without any further delay let us begin the assessment." Lord Alan walked next to the Headmaster, he gave a minor bow of respect to him and said.
As he finished speaking a few people brought in a huge box. This box was made out of sturdy material, placing this box on the platform they opened the box. Inside were different weapons, sword, spear, bow, battle axe, hammer, mace, etc where present.
These weapons were nothing special during a battle, their only purpose was to assess affinity to a particular weapon.
Being enchanted weapons, their value was high but no one would use them for anything else then what these weapons were made for.
One only had to hold a weapon in their hand to know their affinity grade.
Aaron walked towards the box of weapons, without any delay he picked up the sword with his right hand.
The Sword glowed with dazzling violet colour, but soon it changed to indigo colour, not stopping it changed colours, indigo to blue, blue to green, green to yellow, yellow to orange, and orange to red.
As the glow turned red it slowed down but continued to get brighter and brighter. After a while, it halted completely as the glow became dazzling crimson red.
Everyone gasped in astonishment, this was the sign of a peak-Red grade affinity to swords. In just a little over two decades, people had witnessed something that was seen hardly in multiple centuries. The stunned audience straightened their back.
As everyone was trying to make sure the person next to them had also seen the same thing they had. The red glow faded away, however not completely, other colours started to appear once again orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
All these colours glowed as bright as the sun in the sky. Soon these colours started mixing with one another. A few moments later a bright white light shone from the sword. With the light, the other weapons in the box started to hum and vibrate restlessly.
Everyone had their jaws dropped, their eyes wide open even in the bedazzling bright white light making their eyes itchy and watery. Still, no one dared to blink. This was too unbelievable.
A white grade talent!
A White Grade Talent!
A WHITE GRADE TALENT!
This was crazy! This was preposterous! This was absurd! This was ridiculous! This is a lie! This is impossible even amongst things that are impossible!
The legendary white grade talent! No one, absolutely no one, had ever, ever, ever had such strong affinity towards swords.
A rank that all thought to be just an illusion, a myth, a legend was happening right in front of them. How could anyone believe their own eyes? People thought they were drunk! A rank that was never even considered a possibility was actually reached by someone!
As people slowly came to their senses, they looked at the young man who was holding that sword. The Sword was almost as big as him. Yet he held onto it as if the sword only belonged to him and only him. A smile was on that face was too cute, but right now everyone could only think that that was a devil with charms tempting others to commit heinous crimes. And their heartfelt no resistance to this temptations.
"Unbelievable! Incredible! What an absolute genius! This old man has lived a long and modest life drowned in learning the history of the empire but has never read or heard of anyone ever say or mention this before! Truly a top genius amongst geniuses! A genius swordsman blessed by the heavens and gods. Hahaahah... coming here today has turned into a sheer and supreme delight! My words from earlier have turned out to be true! May the Goddess of Light blesses him, his family, and our glorious empire!" the old headmaster broke the silence as he laughed like a madman.
