306 Wasting The Talent Away

The following days were uneventful. The medical reports had reached their Mansion the next day and to Li Yuan's pleasure everything was okay and Dr. Lilith didn't end her report before announcing how fertile and in her prime to have children she was. As if!

They fell into a routine with nothing but coordination. Lei Xinyi avoided the subject that would lead to his outburst and he became overly tender while dealing with her. But nothing deterred her perception; she still firmly believed that this was all a ruse as she should.

They belonged to two different worlds and no consensual feeling would deter the fact but she gave up trying to battle it out with him and he stopped persisting it over her.

They fell in a chorus of events. Li Yuan woke her up before the sun by his consuming kisses and worked out then he taught her new moves, she improved tremendously. Her skills were rusted but she had a good base making it easy for her to follow his every lead.

She observed him combat with his Elite subordinates which included Ji Zhou, her drives whose name she learned was Qin Shen and Qin Wentian who were cousins and her shadow guard. The last one was Lou Wei who was Li Yuan's shadow guard.

They were Elites and led with their Teams and were responsible for running different operations. Li Yuan had offered her to show her his Head Quarters as Office was off-limits because of the lingering eyes but she politely declined as it would be nothing but trouble.

Li Yuan had plucked out several thorns from her side but there were several remaining- that's what he had said. Sometimes she felt like he was delaying it deliberately to keep her here but then she would shake her head at the absurd thoughts she conjured.

She flipped the page in utter boredom. The book was on herbs but she had spent her whole life studying so nothing interested her enough to keep flipping. There wasn't much she could do around in the mansion and Su Qing was busy shooting her new Chick-Flick.

While Lu Xinyi was probably in Venice with Yu Youhan who had taken there for the week for her 'first' kiss.

She almost wanted to puke at the mushiness, weirdos! How crazy is this? You can simply have your first kiss on a couch when no one is looking!

He Zheng is busy with his college or so he says. There was something really disturbing about his newly acquired attitude that rubbed her the wrong way but she was letting him be for the time being.

Li Yuan had asked her if she wanted to join his office but she had passed it with a scoff. It was one of the places she will prefer before hell. So here she was drowning herself in teas and death stares.

She heard the slightly croaked footsteps and knew at once without lifting her head who it was that was coming there. His footsteps weren't even; one was heavier or probably sorer than the other. It was such a slight difference nobody would even notice if they weren't looking for something.

In the eerie silence of the Herb Green House, his footsteps were a prominent entity. She kept her eyes still at the book but her ears were picking up the sounds trying to diagnose the issue.

It wasn't in his expensive-looking shoes of course. He placed the pastries on the coffee table and straightened. He waited for her to take him into account and when she didn't for a while he cleared his throat to get her attention.

When she still ignored him, he cleared his throat harder and greeted, "Good Afternoon, Madam Lei." He took a pause and when no reply came, then continued, "When will you like to have your lunch, the kitchen…"

Lei Xinyi lifted her head and cut him off, "How long has it been like this?"

Butler Yang looked at her confused, then his expressions turned placid, "Madam Lei, the kitchen has been…"

"I am not talking about the Lunch, I am talking about your leg." She interjected with a straight face.

He looked taken aback, but replied none the less, "I am grateful for your concern. My leg is fine…"

"Sit Down." She commanded breaking his trail of sentence.

The Butler looked oddly at her, not able to make the sense of her words but relented when her eyes hardened

She kept a hand on his knee cap jolting him away from her as his eyes widened at her outrageous action. He tried to tug it away, least someone made assumptions or spread rumors but she kept her hold hard on him and closed her eyes.

He frantically objected, "Madam Lei, Master Li wouldn't like …"

Lei Xinyi shushed him, and instructed instead, "Straighten it then fold it back, slowly." He hesitated but did as she said, not seeing the point of debate when she was going to not be deterred till she had met her goal.

After her inspection, she let go of his knee. Just when he was about to take a sigh of relief, she took hold of his gloved wrist, she frowned and inculpably said, "Calm your breathing."

He did as told and Lei Xinyi who was holding his wrist looked up at him with a frown, "Do you urge to urinate more, and has your thirst been heightened lately?"

The Butler turned red, tried to tug his hand away which Lei Xinyi had already let go of.

She leaned back and inspected her nails, "By your expressions, I presume you do. Your heart rate and swelling project irregularity so with this status of your damaged vessels I am guessing it has been a year at most like this." She answered her own question as if musing the facts.

"The cracking in your joints along with other clear signs I conclude Diabetes. Slightly glazed eyes, fast heart rate, and that pulse about ready to burst out of your head... I am concluding it's Type 2 Diabetes so you are in luck, just cut off excess glucose from your diet, a little bit of insulin would do. And to answer your question, I will take my lunch half an hour later."

The Butler was staring at her open-mouthed then shook his head in disbelief, "I don't have relatives…"

"…who have diabetes? Well bad for you and good for them; It doesn't need to be transmitted through genes." She replied with a shrug.

He looked at her in bafflement then hoarsely muttered, "They say you have a mastery in Chinese medicine..."

She interposed with a wave of her wrist, "They lie. I have studied, Jammu, American, African, Indian, and Chinese herbal Medicine under Modern studies. Besides that, I learned unique skills like wet cupping concerning medical but I am infamous for my surgical expertise. People sure are underestimating me these days."

The Butler was shocked out of his wits and words were clogged in his throat, facing the wondrous prodigy who acted like a full-time brat.

He wanted to believe she was just bluffing but he had firsthand witnessed her diagnostics. It was amazing how she could deduce his body with just touching a body to feel pulse or skeletal movement.

"But you are really young!" She looked about 23 and 24 which could be the age required when a medical student enters the hospital setting, with no real-world work experience!

She shrugged indifferently, "Somebody should have told that to my Master."

"Why do you waste such a talent?" He bellowed losing his composure in wonderment.

She hummed and tapped her chin in thought and chuckled, "Now that you mentioned, I really think I am wasting my talent."

Butler Yang went to do his reports the following day and her diagnosis was proven to be on point, she recommended him some herbs and offered to teach him how to make several tonics which added to her immensely spreading popularity.

Li Yuan heard about it at night and stared at her during the dinner for almost five minutes then cupped her face and kissed her on the cheek, telling her 'how she was his Sweet Raven and he was happy that she was doing something she liked.'

She swatted his hand away, telling him to 'Stop making her feel like a softy, she just did that because she was bored!'

Later days, she would usually tend to the Green Herb house, extracting and storing then giving out herbs to anyone and everyone according to their ailments. She even gave health boosters and beautification tips and suddenly she was everyone's favorite. She scoffed at those people.

Her patients included the House staff and their families, their neighbors and their neighbor's extended families, Li Yuan's guards and their relatives and their relatives' relatives, even Li Yuan's Head Quarter had people that had contacted Butler Yang to ask her for diagnosis and herbal remedies.

The tonics she taught the maids to prepare were all distributed along with the essential oils she made them extract. She even made the effort to send one package to Madam Li.

All these activities made her realize how she was always going to be attached to her profession, no matter how detached she chose to act. Sooner or later she was going to want to go back to the surgical theatre...

And please she wasn't trying to be nice she was just too bored to not dive back into her passion and besides all these precious herbs were too precious to be left to wither away!
