304 Cocoon Of Mystery

The drive was mostly eventless with Lei Xinyi looking out of the tinted window and Li Yuan attending calls about some shipment that was about to arrive tonight.

Ji Zhou was on the shotgun seat with her driver on the pilot seat. The first thing he had done when she entered the car was to draw the divider between them like there was anything partially private left between them!

She had convinced him to stay inside till she reached the ground floor or she would run down by the emergency stairs in the opposite direction. Thinking she would really do that and fall by the stairs in her haste and sprain her leg or worse attain another severe injury he restlessly waited.

With a straight face, she was trying to give him a silent treatment. All in all, she couldn't understand what he was trying to achieve here by discussing all this confidential information in front of her.

By now, she knew the harbor location, the protocol strategy, arrival intel, and the shipment worth which was very dangerous in sequence if in the wrong hands. If she was to tip it off to an external billions worth of investment can be sabotaged and the legal lawsuit would be another pandora's box.

Was he trying to test her loyalty by telling her the falser info to see if she was going to disclose it or was he trying to dump some blame on her if this so-called plan is busted?

In any case, it meant sh*t to her. She was so done with all these games he wanted to play with her and it was still a wonder to her that she was stomaching his bullsh*t.

In fact, he didn't really need to accompany her to the hospital for a check, she was very well able to escort herself there without stumbling in her way there but she kept her perception to herself and just went along with it.

When the car reached the hospital their Driver parked it in a VVIP parking: a clear sign he owned the place. He kept his phone and turned to her with a single stare. He spoke nothing just got out of the car and extended his hand to her.

She would have slapped it away but it was of no gain, only his macho-ego that will be bruised and then he will feel obligated to start a fight with her in the middle of public only inviting further drama.

She was already too nervous to know whatever the results were going to be and she was too reluctant to hand over all her medical information and biometric records to someone.

"Aren't you too complying this fine afternoon." He whispered huskily attaining her attention before he forcefully intertwined their fingers. She tried to tug her hand away but he just pulled her closer causing her to fall in his embrace. He held her by the waist and kissed her temple, staring at her face tenderly.

Ji Zhou and her driver had their backs to them and he was making it too awkward for her. After all, they may not see them but they can very well hear them.

She wanted to snap at him with something snarky come back when Lu Xinyi entered her mind. He said he would take care of her and she could tell with her mind on a strike he wasn't going to do it at a cocktail party while toasting to her for old times sake.

She usually wouldn't give a damn but the thought of Lu Xinyi's hurt evoked a streak of fear to run through her spine. Lu Xinyi was precious to her and if anyone was out to hurt her they should expect retaliation from her.

With a deep breath she closed her eyes swallowing her bitterness and spoke what was bugging, "Li Yuan," She pouted and whined placing a hand on his chest, he was shocked for a moment before his brows pinched together in confusion trying to make sense of her behavior.

After their steamy morning and the sizzling morning after, he was expecting a fire breathing dragon ready to bite his head not an adorable playful version of her.

"I don't want you hurting or confronting Lu Xinyi. I assure you she is of no concern and as far as it matters she is adorable and can't hurt a fly." He nodded his head in understanding. So this was it was about, that damn little minx! First Yu Youhan and now Lei Xinyi was entrapped in her facade of innocence! 

Taking his gesture as a sign of agreement, she smiled at him gratefully. She was about to pull away when his hold on her waist tightened.

"You sound fond of her," Through his plain tone, she deducted jealousy and wanted to roll her eyes but she kept her smile.

"She is fine." She shrugged nonchalantly, not wanting to discuss her anymore, at least it got her in trouble again.

She was about to retract herself from him when a thought struck her and she stilled, looking in his eyes again, "Oh, and Li Yuan the tissues samples…"

He pecked her lips, cutting her off, he caressed her face with a loving gaze and smiled, "Don't worry, Sweetheart. It's all confidential and my elites will see to it that the samples are destroyed following the exams. That is my exclusive medical staff and set up so nothing will be violated."

She nodded and shut her mouth after that and another series of thoughts bugged. He had a staff that followed his medical regime then why did he hire her? With his every act he just coiled back further in the mystery that surrounded him.

She had a lot to ask but she kept her silence, asking him would be alerting him. She needed to figure it all and she needed to do it urgently, but without letting him suspect her and go back in his cocoon of mystery!

He took her to the private elevator and then his private VVIP off-limit ward where a female and male foreign senior doctor were already present with some assisting staff standing to greet them. She noticed there wasn't even a single soul except the staff in the corridors.
