285 Snuggling With His Newly Acquired Fiancé

After an apprehensive stare, she smirked, "Nothing would make me happier as such."

Shaking his head at her obvious deceit, he let her have the laugh for the moment and raised his hand for her to take. There was something they had to resolve between them despite as she made all the prejudice about their relation, already.

He wasn't expecting her to jump his bones, squeal her lungs out and then cry tears of happiness when he was giving her the ring but it was far better that he didn't have to drill the ring on her finger with force.

"Let's take a walk." Lei Xinyi stared at him then his outstretched hand.

Arghhh... Whenever anybody asks you for a walk it is never a walk actually, all they are doing it for is grilling you for information!

She sighed in irritation then took his hand anyway! He was a persistent man so there was no stopping him, he would have dragged her or would have started his obnoxious conversation here.

He held her dress for her as she stepped down from the pergola and helped her on the sand. He took her to the shore and they started walking along the shore.

It was a blank night with only the moon shining in all its glory. She was too entranced with its beauty reflecting on the shimmering sky, she didn't notice when he had taken her hand in his and interlaced their fingers.

'How full of company yet lonely was the moon… Only one of its kind in the whole sky battling alone against consuming darkness. Often her heart bled like a lunar eclipse, she repeatedly felt herself phasing in parts of her; The clouds hiding her light from the world. Her real self forgotten and bygone like a scattered particle in the infinite space…'

"You didn't use the card." At his deep magnetic voice disrupting her solitude of thoughts, she turned to him.

As his words registered, first, she wanted to snap at him but then instead opted to present a smile of reverence. She was in no position to be a b*tch right now. She wanted him to make sure all her offenders were dealt with before he started getting irritated with her.

She smirked and shrugged, "I didn't. We didn't go shopping and Su Qing insisted she pays the bill."

And that was her immediate attempt to irk him, she wanted to annoy him by defying. He was annoyed but today everything was forgiven to her. He smirked then nodded his head for her to continue.

She looked at her feet faring well in the sand and thanked her stars for not wearing the trap she was planning on, "That b*tch owe me a lot of money, she never returned. This is my way of extorting my money back. Initial six and a half of her debut I sponsored her, from her hair tie to her panties. I was literally her sugar mama!"

She rambled to lighten the mood but the silence only thickened it for them. The tension penetrated their skin and settled on their flesh. They both had some pending conversation for each other...

A silence settled between them. Li Yuan could tell it was just her trying to deflate the conversation but didn't voice his evaluation and Lei Xinyi couldn't be more thankful.

The tension was thick and so was the climate, a chill went down her spine as a gust of wind greeted her, she involuntarily shivered in the cold. 

He noticed her momentarily show of vulnerability and took off his suit. As he draped his suit on her without a word, she didn't utter a single word either. She was an easily cold person and she would be found frozen to death if she was to stay unsheltered in the cold.

The winter was approaching so the nights were cold. He made a mental note to keep her in warm attires at night, better indoors after six. Her dress was so revealing in this cruel cold, he knew he needed to have a 'word' with the person who arranged it for her.

His warmth embraced her like shelter and she pulled it closer to her body giving him a grateful smile. He returned her smile for a totally different reason.

Walking a little they came to a stop, a big rock that was half wetting by the ocean waves crashing into it. He helped her climb before joining her. She scooted closer to him so she was practically in his lap. 

But you can't blame a girl who is easily cold! No, thanks! But she would rather send her pride to a slumber party than freeze to death.

She snuggled her head on his chest so his chin was resting on her head and his arms were wrapped around her. 

He smiled down at his newly acquired fiancé and hummed in the wind. He was appreciative of the chill in the air, if only he knew this was what it took for her to hug the life out of him.

"I love the ocean." She murmured lowly, entranced by the view, knowing despite the heavy winds current he could hear her.

She sighed as her soul bared herself to him, "When I was young, I often imagined this was what my freedom would be like. Liberated to the waves, no barriers, no limits, I could be anywhere I wanted and anything I wanted."

Listening to her speak passionately about freedom which was basic to every living being burnt his heart with fury.

He had known she didn't have a pleasant childhood but it didn't lessen the blow every time it was shoved in his face. He wanted to rip every hand laid on his future that was secured in his arms.

He kissed her cheek in possessiveness and tightened his callous arms around him. 

"I met with your side chick today." She gobbled out after a minute to break the ice and thick tension.

He wasn't surprised and he didn't even act surprised.

"Lu Xinyi." He snorted at the sound of her name and couldn't help but roll his eyes, "I don't even think if she is legal. The girl is so childish that thinking about her makes me feel like a pedophile."

Lei Xinyi burst out in a pearl of laughter. She could swear she had seen her fair shares of scorned exes but Lu Xinyi and Li Yuan still were the most 'unique' pair.

Lu Xinyi was like an annoying young brat next door who was sheltered and naïve but only she could recognize the evil incarnate and Li Yuan was the bully who had fun pulling her braids. They were almost hilarious as if they were still in high school!

"The girl is convinced you are devil incarnate." She teased, giving him a nudge.

LI Yuan scoffed at her poor jab, "And I am convinced her step-mother dropped her when she was in the cradle."

He could be sure that girl must even be calling him the blue beard at his back and would be fabricating tales of him kidnapping kids and gobbling them down!

After a moment of thought in the eerie silence, Lei Xinyi pursed her lips and sighed, finally opening her box of precariousness, "You put too much effort into all of this…it's too much for a woman like me."

He frowned at her insinuation, "A woman like you…"

She huffed and sighed out in exasperation, she turned to him, "Yeah! A woman who isn't supposed to be a 'woman', like not supposed to be married, have children. I just need to survive till I can, till I am useful on the chessboard, and then… All my life this is what I have known."

He just stared at her with a passive blank face with no emotion or reaction crossing his elegantly pristine features.

Not being able to contain it anymore she burst out, "And you know what? Let's face it I don't really know what you are trying to achieve here but this all is nothing but a sham…"
