278 Not So Stupid Then

The girl was point-blank clean, no rap sheet, no vendetta-grieving enemies, not even a B in her academic conquests, not as far as a parking ticket! It was like she was fresh out of her mother's womb...

The girl was pretty transparent, nothing too extraordinary yet nothing bizarre. But by the look, he had on life those were the most exploiting edgy of them all, the one who always had the consistency to be undetected.

Those who always had the capacity to dodge the limelight had something they were hiding in the dark. 

He twirled and spun his dagger in his hand expertly like an assassin he was always supposed to be. He had his eyes on his target for a long time now, figuring and deducing the supposed innocent prey.

Tailing this particular woman was a headache. She was all too by the book kind of girl or perhaps... it was all an act. She was too sickly sweet fake, he had to restrain the urge to puke.

He could have killed her undetected for weeks now as he was camouflaged well in her peripheral life. Apparently, he was her 'friend' or the pretend naïve young lady wanted everyone to think.

But he was conflicted, either the girl was too clever beyond his comprehension or she was simply not ignorant and trust-worthy either way, she was a loose cannon and like all other dispecables Lei Xinyi will refuse to get rid of this serpent too. But he was losing his patience...

She had Yu's force's best men surveying her barbie apartment and not to mention the protocol she received because of her status from her 'family'.

The girl has just this 'too good to be true' scene going on with even the way she crosses paths with you. Tailing her was sure soul-grinding.

The woman was a true masochist wet dream! No wonder Yu Youhan had called dibs on her... Too docile, subservient, nice… in short a definition of an impossible woman that even a rabbit is a menace in her comparison.

She was an impossible woman that's why she had to...be exterminated. Such humans didn't exist which meant it was all an act and a woman who can pull something off like that had an ulterior motive written on the very inch of her f*cking skin!

In his weeks of stalking he had found nothing suspicious or shady which meant she was good at hiding her tracks. At the end of his limits now, he was losing it with her. She had to die today in the most unsusceptible of ways.

He saw by the corner her car parking and a sinister smirk overtook his features as a shadow covered his once expressive eyes. 

He saw the girl filling in for the elevator and got out of the corner he was hiding in. The very complex being his residence too gave him easy access.

He pushed the device in his hand ending the database collection of footage from the elevator along with the reception area, all concerning paths they would cross and instead be connected to the virtual private network he had already set. Now the security is going to see what he wanted to show them which included empty corridors and a regularly busy reception but no sign of the girl in question.

An empty elevator and an occasionally visited reception would avert their attention for ten to twenty minutes or so and that was all the time he needed.

Just before the elevator door closed he hopped in with his very own charming smile that eased anyone. The beauty broke out in a smile of her own instantly recognizing him.

"Hey, pretty girl!" He exclaimed with such cheerfulness that masked all his viciousness like a glove.

Lu Xinyi slid away giving He Zheng space in the elevator and returned his greetings, "I haven't seen you around for a while." 

He Zheng looked at the dinging numbers ascending. He was placed on the eleventh floor and she was on thirteenth, he would have to get the job done before they were close to ten to make a clean leap out.

He turned to her with his most elusive yet charming smile and ran a hand through his hairs waving them in all directions in a nonchalant manner while his others hand traced the pocket knife's edge.

"Well, life's been hectic after everything that's been going on." At once Lu Xinyi's face showed her sympathy for his losses. He held the urge to laugh cynically at her concern.

Who she should be concerned about is herself.

He looked at her eyeballs that had no contracting or dilating and wanted to scoff. He had seen her real irises and they were clearly the Lei's trademark wrapped with viciousness and cunningness in their blood.

And he was not putting her above it all. She was hiding them behind the contact lenses which clearly expressed that she had something to be wary of and the Lei's were never up to something good!

He faced her with his twisted practiced smirk and exhaled as if he was trying to put up a front, "I just enrolled in Law major and I am going to see what I can make of my life then."

Lu Xinyi nodded her head lightly. She had always known the young guy was a prodigy. When they all assumed she was his sister he would often come and tell her about the cool things he did which were mostly illegal.

Now knowing that his sister was dead and the other sister who is left is suicidal, he must really have a hard living. It must be a struggle to be the voice of reason when he was only but still a teen.

Lu Xinyi gave him a look with sincerity of encouragement and took hold of his hand humbly, "You are an intelligent guy and everyone can see you are going to make it big. Too big! Just keep on the track."

He Zheng gave her a look of bewilderment and shook her hand off his. The girl sure was one of a manipulator to play with his head like that, he almost wanted to get a hug from her!

But the bullsh*t! He didn't need a shrink, especially not if a skimpy wimpy girl was holding them!

Lu Xinyi looked at him with alarmed eyes and he quickly schooled his feature with a hesitant smile, to make it look like it was his defensive walls to emotional attachment. Lu Xinyi gave him a nod of understanding.

He kept his grip tight on his blade as a source of drawing determination. He had killed before. Though Lei Xinyi tried to shelter him as a chicken did to her chicks, they lived in the center of the Underworld so in defense and in the offense he had killed but this was proving to be far more horrifying and nerve-wracking than his first kill.

She just acted too… nice!

He glared at the ascending numbers of the elevator. They were still on the sixth floor!

He gritted his teeth. His plan was to stab her with the poison-laced knife and sent the elevator descending till that elevator reach the last floor she would already be history.

He turned to her with a snap of his head and skeptically asked, "You don't seem like a person people miss."

He just wanted to make rough guess if anybody was going to be on his hunt before half an hour. He wasn't planning on running or hiding. When the investigation will begin, the direct suspects will be the people missing so he would stay under the radar till a month or two.

Lu Xinyi's grip on her handbag tightened looking at the teenage boy acting off. Weirdly she was feeling uncomfortable. By his estranged and… elusive behavior. She kept repeating in her mind that it was nothing but her paranoia and the young boy would never hurt her.

She gave a half-hearted laugh and took an unconscious step back, "Well… I don't know what that means but I guess you could say that."

He Zheng caught her jittery step backward and an eerie smirk took over his features. So she was finally catching up… not so stupid then.
