253 An Engagement On Engagemen

Li Yuan tightened his arms around her and leaped for her lips when a knock sounded on the door halting him mid-air.

Both of them stiffened as if two teenagers caught rolling in the hay but then Li Yuan hissed. Lei Xinyi rolled her eyes and pushed him off her and sat upright, he too sat down and shifted in his seat.

The door knocked again and this time Lei Xinyi allowed the person to enter. 

A Housekeeper entered but after the first step, her eyes widened, she halted and reddened looking at Lei Xinyi's messed hairs, ruffled clothing, and Li Yuan half-naked self. She shifted her eyes to the ground.

"Young Master Li, Miss Lei, dinner is ready where would you like to dine?" Housekeeper Yang called out with a placid tone looking at Li Yuan not even glancing at Lei Xinyi like it was below her and she didn't ask for her decision.

Lei Xinyi looked at him and then down at herself and couldn't help but roll her eyes. There was no way she was sitting in the dining room with this post-sex look especially when they didn't even have s*x!

Though Lei Xinyi didn't notice the subtle notion, Li Yuan did and wrapped his arm around Lei Xinyi, "Where would you like to dine, Sweetheart?"

Lei Xinyi looked between them and shrugged, "Here is fine. I don't feel like going anywhere."

Li Yuan turned back to Housekeeper Yang, "Please Nan, arrange it here."

A gleefully sentimental smile lit up on the Housekeeper stern face hearing 'Nan', when Young Master Li was young she was his nanny and her husband was his personal guard and caretaker and at that time he used to call her that.

But lately, these years had taken a toll on him that he was always indifferent or hyperaware of his surroundings, and professional boundaries have been built, and hearing him call her that was a breakage of them.

Housekeeper Yang was the woman who had been the one to 'take care' of his girlfriends after the breakups or if they get too clingy so assumingly she saw Lei Xinyi as a threat to her Young Master.

But right now she could see the difference between yesterday and today beyond her prejudice and personal opinion. When the girl wasn't here and now that she is here. It was like she was gasoline and he was fire, flaring his spirits higher the more she came into his mix. 

She bowed and beamed and this time acknowledged Lei Xinyi respectfully, "As you say, Madam Lei, Master Li."

The woman left the room leaving Lei Xinyi's mouth hanging who still didn't get the small exchange. Madam Lei? Now she was Madam Lei?! Was this woman bipolar or something?

"Why were you looking for me?" Li Yuan's magnetic voice brought her out of her cluster of thought and she turned remembering her two hours of effort. She at once leaped up and brought that jar to him.

She handed the thermos to him, he recognized the thermos at once. The one he had seen her working on all evening but he showed no signs of recognition.

Lei Xinyi gave him a small smile and pointed to the jar, "This is a salve I made for you, it would help you with the sore muscles. It's quite effective in my personal opinion." 

She took it back from his hand, kept the jar on their feet, and continued, "I was looking for you so we can sign the contract as soon as possible this way we can leave the past behind and make a new start for us."

Li Yuan raised a brow at the cunningness of the seductress. If she was this eager it must have to do with a trick that must be up her sleeve.

He smirked and shook his head, he had a trick up his sleeve too, "You conned me after I saved your ass, lashed out on me like a kitten on steroids…"

Lei Xinyi gave him her best sickly sweet smile, held his hand, and kept it on her lap, "That's a little harsh to be pointed out like that and you tore my shirt." She said pointedly but her smile didn't falter at all, "Can I say I was under the weather due to being on red days?"

Li Yuan threw his head back and laughed amused by her trying too hard to make him fall in her web, "You are not. This is your contract." He took out a file from under the pillow of her bed.

Lei Xinyi's eyes lit up and abruptly snatched it from him afraid he was going to change his mind.

She started reading all the details and her full-bloomed smile turned dull before being stripped off her face.

She clenched her fist and forced a smile, "Li Yuan," She patted the file a little too hard, "If I may ask, where the assurance of my guaranteed liberty is?"

Inside she was fuming, that assurance was going to be her assurance of freedom. The Yu, Li, and Lu Family weren't something she could deal with herself! She needed him to do it for her!

In that hell hole, he promised her that he was going to get them off her back! That was the main reason she agreed to come to him.

Escaping wasn't that hard she could very well have done on her own now that she had recovered but the issue with the Yu, Li, and Lu Family was something she couldn't resolve on her own!

Going against the Lu Family was going up against the Government directly as they were the ones manipulating the whole political democracy and military. Yu's had a secret force of their own and Li Yuan's Grandfather wasn't a man of power anymore but he was a man of influence and connections.

And if he wasn't going to help her out of it, all of their heat was going to make her a slice of grilled bacon! She was frustrated and angry. Like this, all of her Master Plan was going to become cotton candy in front of armed men!

In the contract, it was only about her being his personal doctor and all the facilities she would be given and a hefty amount of salary, like something you would give to an employee, and nothing at all written about how he was going to help her out of her messy life.

Observing her piercing cute glare Li Yuan smirk widened and he caressed her cheek, "That's off the table, Sweetheart. Not in your royalties, this is what you call a 'favor'."

Lei Xinyi's eyes shot up and mouth dropped, "A favor?" She exclaimed in shock, "Which revenue in a 'favor for a favor'?"

Li Yuan bends forward and kissed her cheek, "You are neat."

Lei Xinyi swatted his hand away in shock and anger, and gritted out, "What do you want?"

She really wanted to smack that smirk off his face and more so smack herself head-first for her naivety. What the hell was she delusional to think that she was fooling the King of Underworld and ripping him off?!

Li Yuan smirk widened knew he had her on the hook because he was her only route out of this hazard and he was taking all the advantage he could of the fact.

"A fiancé."

If her previous shock was an understatement, this sure was thunder-jolted to her "What the actual f*ck?" She stood up and glared at him in disbelief and shouted, "You promised it was going to be a liberal employee/employer relationship!"

At this point, all the heat of their lust had faded and all that was remaining was the piercing heat of their rage and conflict battling with the previous sexual haze.

Li Yuan raised a brow and let out a sinister dark chuckle that had her recoiling back, "You are not the brightest on the heads, are you?" 

Lei Xinyi in return glared at him, he was making it all complicated! She was already f*cking arranged so how can she get engaged to him? 

Lord, Bless her! If her father knew she was going to do an engagement on another engagement! He was going to kill her and make her an example for all the adulterous couples out there!

Li Yuan stood up to and cupped her cheeks tenderly yet firmly, He whispered in a clam threatening manner with a smirk that sent shivers down her spine, "You, my dear, are getting off easy because I like your antics. You are smart, you know what happens to people who have a quarter of the load you carry on me."

She did know she had seen the consequence of it all. Her hands turn sweaty and it was like a reality check on her face of who she was dealing with.

If it was Li Yuan who was coming for her head, all other offended one's with vendetta was the least of her concern. 

"Besides, it could be a platonic relationship till we are ready to move things forward but I will not slide you for being my lover that you rightfully owe me." His voice was dominating but she was damn hot and bothered by his show of dominance.

He could very well make her fall into a contract marriage with him, she was too desperate not to but it would be pushing too hard. She was a woman of strong beliefs and will always hate him for that. It would be making their relationship a liability and he wanted her to be in love with him before they tie the knot.

And making her his doctor was just a way for her to stay engaged in his life so they can have progress in their relation.

By an engagement, it would make sure other stray dogs stay from his Raven and Lei Xinyi consider him more than just a fling or occasional hookup. She needed to know he was serious about her and him.
