36 Making Progress
Sald and Eos both immediately retreated from their current spots, increasing the distance between Arbor and himself. Both of the prey increased their speed to their maximum to increase their chances of not getting caught by Arbor. They both understand that after a stepping into the next realm, a cultivator will experience a vast increase in all around strength. Eos slightly knows the speed that Arbor can reach due to their mental connection. The two are able to sense the feelings, both body and mind, of one another.
Arbor smirked before he took his first step to give chase towards Sald whose face darkened as she noticed his actions. When Arbor moved right, Sald moved left. Arbors movements would be more of a running and shuffling action with his feet, while Salds movement would be more floating as she relied on her use of the wind to move her body. Compared to Arbor, Sald's movements carried a look of loftiness as if she is hovering over the ground. Her body looked as if it is as light as a feather. When she changed directions she would simply tap the ground with the required foot.
Arbor moved left she would move right. Sald keenly watched Arbor's movements so that she could try to predict his movements and react accordingly in order to keep the distance between the two at a safe distance. Sald started to take this game more serious as Arbor slowly decreased the distance between the two. When the distance between the two became less than fifteen meters Arbor started to shoot his vines at Sald. Adding another variable for Sald to focus on during the chase. Because Salds attention was focused on keeping her distance from Arbor and dodging his vines, her speed had started to increase slowly.
This chase lasted for a quarter hour before Sald ended up being tangled up in vines and dragged on the ground towards the hole in the ground. "I don't know if you realized it but your speed increased by around ten percent. You can't be too mad at me for doing this. Not only did you do this to yourself because you pushed me through the crack earlier, but you also benefited a little bit." Arbor patted himself on the back slightly since he helped her increase her speed.
"Where you using your full speed or no?" Sald sincerely asked Arbor who shook his head a couple times in response.
Arbor noticed that his body feels more connected overall compared to when he was in the Kuwa realm. In the kuwa realm the essence flowed in one set of meridians at a time. In the Kaholo realm, since the dantain is activated, the essence continuously circulated through the body as it can move more easily as everything is now connected. Think of this as a plumbing system. Before the essence would have to go to a centralized location before it could move to another. Now, in the Kaholo realm the system is more sophisticated, and each part of the body is connected to each other.
Arbor stopped dragging Sald when she arrived at the bottom of the altar. While scanning the cavern, that is now filled with dust, with his eyes for Eos, Arbor muttered indistinguishable words under his breath.
"You can't hide forever Eos!" Arbor called out in the cavern. Arbor sighed before he pulled out a small golden pill from his space ring. A sweet fragrant aroma radiated off the pill as it started to fill the cavern. "Ashliel told me that I should give this to you when you are ready to step into the Kaholo realm." Arbor tempted Eos with a God level pill. Even though he has no clue what the pill is for, he can to trust Ashliel over the course of their time together and knows that she means no harm to him or Eos.
"If you can avoid my pursuit for five minutes this is all yours. Otherwise, you will have to wait until we leaving this place." Arbor set his terms with Eos, who is still hiding.
Arbor waiting for less than a minute until he heard Eos through soul, "Catch if can."
Eos appeared out from the passageway that led to the stairs and sat there until Arbor made his first move. Arbor smiled and took a step with his left foot. Eos turned around and ran up the stairs as fast as he could. This chase more resembled the hunter and pray scene. As Eos was running he dodged left and right as vines missed him by inches each time.
Back in the cavern Sald told everyone about how she and Eos pushed Arbor into the entrance to the crack and left him inside by himself for a couple of hours.
"You should know that he repays his debts. Granted this is your first time, you should have seen it enough with Orion and Arbor back in the academy." Leo teased Sald before he spoke to his underlings, "None of you help her, she brought this upon herself. Also take note of this as an example. While Tagas seems caring and lovely, he will always get back at you."
Everyone nodded in agreement. "Orion? Is there another genius monster among this group of people?" Similar thoughts ran through everyone's mind.
"Sald and Eos have an extremely high speed. Leo is a battle freak with monstrous strength. Arbor seems to be the leader, but what is his specialty exactly? He seems very adept with a few weapons. But his vines do not seem that special. So what makes him the leader exactly? And now there is Orion. Who and where is he? What is he specialty?" Both Dax and Chen Hong had similar thoughts on this group.
Soon enough Eos came running down the stairs only seconds ahead of Arbor. The cat and mouse game continued on for a couple more minutes before Arbor stopped in his tracks. "It seems that you haven't been using your full speed all this time. You won this somewhat honestly." Arbor tossed the pill towards Eos who caught it in his beak in midair. After swallowing the pill, Eos danced around Arbor while he cawed some type of song.
Eos singing soon stopped when Arbor used his vines to tie him up. Eos pleaded with Arbor through their minds but was only ignored. He dragged Eos up to the altar and tossed Eos down the hole before grabbing Sald and doing the same. As the descended into the dark unknown the two were freed as the vines disappeared. The two fell for a half a minute before they lightly landed on the ground.
Eos laid down on the ground and curled up into a ball. "Are you serious? Right here?" Sald ridiculed Eos.
Sald only say pure darkness beyond the small circle of light that penetrated the center of the hole from up above. "Ithaa we are going to need your help down here!" Sald ordered from down below. "Also there is a set of stairs you asshole! Also, your pet is a pain in the ass!"
"That's your problem right problem right now. You have the same amount of time down there as I did from the first time." A voice answered.
Ithaa walked over towards hole and ignited a small flame in her palm. About five feet down from the top of the hole a small step appeared on the side. Ithaa made her way down without any hesitation. Sald admired her courageous character.
As Ithaa got closer to the bottom of the hole, a passage way appeared in front of Sald. "Do we go in now or wait for everyone else?"
"First we need to wait for this rascal to finish breaking through to the three star realm. Then we will go." Sald answered.
"I will send my snake ahead to scout." Sozoth added as she hurried down the stairs.
"I didn't expect you to come also." Ithaa replied to Sozoth
"I am not staying up there with all those boys." A straight forward reply from Sozoth gave her reason.
An hour passed and if on que, Sozoth's snake returned and changes to Eos body started to happen. Eos's body started to grow and a brown lustier coat of fur started to form. An extremely small amount of golden hairs started to grow on his body, but these were hidden underneath the rest of his coat for anyone to see. This process lasted for fifteen minutes before it finally stopped. He stood up on all fours and is now a dignified eight feet tall.
"Whats the situation." A voice pleasant voice sounded in Sald, Sozoth, and Ithaa's minds. All three were scared as did not expect to hear another voice in their heads, but soon collected themselves when they realized that it was Eos.
"There is one person at the end of the path and he seems a bit…he might be a lunatic. It seems to be a lab of some sorts. Other than that, there are countless dead beast all around. But there doesn't seem to be any danger." Sozoth said.
"I think you just spoke more words there than you have in your entire life combined." Ithaa teased.
