21 Job Hunting
"He is going to leave just like that? He is not going to try and swoon any of the workers here? I must be dreaming." The same girl who helped Arbor earlier mumbled to herself as she watched him walk out the door.
The number of sects and clans in the city cause for a lot of unwanted trouble in the city. Most of the trouble comes from those spoiled brats who have no respect for others simply because of their "powerful" background. While most of the citizens have grown numb to the continuous unscrupulous acts, those directly affected by it have tried many times to stand up for themselves. Unfortunately, they have not been able to make the guilty party change their ways.
"Maybe he is just a nobody without a background. After all, he did ask for the cheapest herbs that we offer." The worker finished her thought before drifting back to doing her monotonous job.
Feminine cheers went with masculine insults and arguments a distance away from the herb shop that Arbor just stepped foot out of. The last couple of days for Arbor had been uneventful. So, he decided that he would look at what all the commotion is about.
"Haha Ti Yuffeo look at this, you are going to loose your girl to a mere beast. Are you that terrible in bed?"
"You have no room to talk! This perverted beast was just all over your fiancé also."
"Look at that now both of their girls are showing it some love!"
Multiple accounts of what has and what is happening entered Arbors ears as he approached the outskirts of the crowd. He noticed Eos huddled up against two women. Compared too the beauties form Highland School, they were nothing worth mentioning.
"I'm not going to deal with his problems. He got himself into it, he can get himself out. Besides, I might get some unwanted attention by showing myself. These idiots, might think I put him up to it to get their ladies." Arbor murmured as he walked away from the crowed.
Arbor continued walking through the market district looking at the buildings and little stand up shops on both sides of the street. Eventually he found what he had been looking for and walked inside.
"Welcome to the Blacksmith Guild. How may I be of assistance?" A young black-haired man with dark stains on his face from smoke greeted Arbor as he walked in.
"How do I go about registering to become a part of the guild? I have a little knowledge in the field, and I would like to see what I can make of myself." Arbor questioned the young apprentice.
"I am sorry, but currently the division master out for the day. He told me that he would be back tomorrow. But, with his personality, he could return in a month or two. You best luck would be to come back every day.
As far as the test goes there are two parts. The first part is naming distinct types of metals and their properties. It holds one hundred random metals. You must get more than eighty-five of them correct to pass and move on. The second test is the actual blacksmithing. You must be able to craft any mortal grade item. Here is a pamphlet of all of the possible metals that can appear on the first part of the test."
Arbor received the five-inch-thick booklet, he did a quick flip through and asked, "How many are in here?"
"In there are the known five hundred and twenty-nine known metals in this realm. I wish you the best of luck."
"Thank you. You can call me Tagas." Arbor introduced himself as his alias.
"I go by Floyd."
Arbor smiled and left black smith guild. The commotion caused by Eos had escalated since the moment Arbor had left. Currently there are two fights going on between two different gangs of scoundrels. Arbor paid no heed to who was fighting who. He squeezed his way through the crowed towards Eos and the females that are surrounding him. The crowed though that this young man was going to join in on the fight and simply parted a clear path for him.
Before he knew it, there was no one within five feet of him. The bystanders in the immediate area all turned to look at him with gazes contained with flirtatious vibes, some with curiosity, and others with anger.
Who is this new face? What is he doing here? As a smaller city on the back end of the world, there are rarely new people that show up in the new city. Because of this, everyone took note of those with looks as attractive as Arbors. Those within the crowed noticed that no one knew who this stranger is and soon figured out that he is not from Eksu City.
Arbor paused for a moment due to the reaction by those staring at him. "You stupid, untrained pet. I let you out for fresh air and you decide to run off and cause trouble. Who taught you how to treat ladies? We will see whose food gets knocked down a grade." Arbor started to berate Eos who then moved around to the backside of the girls and nudged their butts to insinuate for them to stand up for him. Whimpers were let out continuously by Eos as he tried to hide from Arbor.
He tried to communicate with Eos mentally, but the little guy didn't respond.
"How dare you speak to him like that!"
"Who does this guy think he is?"
"Don't let this guy get close to him!"
Insults and berating words were yelled at Arbor. They went in one ear and out the other. No one dared to try and stop him as they didn't know the type of power he possessed as they couldn't get an accurate reading when they tried to look.
Arbor continued to walk towards the females that are protecting Eos. "You can either move out of the way and let me take or I can do it by force. Those are your two choices." Arbor started before he squatted down and looked at Eos, "As for you, you also have two options. And since this is your first time acting up I will not give you a hard way. You can either come right now and we will act as if this never happened. Or, I will simply decrease your meals for the next couple of weeks."
The ladies in front of Arbor felt a sense of fear creep into their bones as Arbor started to talk. It did not set right with them because on the outside he gives off an aura of peace and gutlessness. A quiet unanimous decision was made that they would let Arbor do as he pleased.
Eos and Arbor stared at each other for thirty seconds before Eos decided. A low, sad caw sounded as Eos started to walk towards the direction of the inn that they are staying at.
"Good choice." Arbor patted Eos on his head, "Everyone I am sorry for the trouble caused by my pet today. I hope no one has been offended by it. We will now take our leave. Good day everyone." The two started to walk away from the location of the incited.
Those fighting did not pay any attention to Arbors actions since their focus was elsewhere. But later on their subordinates and friends had informed them on what happened and described what Arbors looks like.
Arbor was completely surprised when he returned to the inn without any problems. But, he knows that those who were not mature enough to write it off and forget about it would scheme against him in the shadows and with uncivilized tricks.
Arbor had changed his disguise and went to the Blacksmith Guild everyday for the next month. He had been unlucky as the undependable division master. Of course, Arbor had mad Eos stay inside except for when the two would venture into the woods to train.
He had made it to the small accomplishment in his Floating Leaf movement skill. He felt that his agility has improved by ten percent and his movement have become gentler and loftier. The more he practiced the skill, the more he feels that his body floats with the breeze. Also, he is now able to control ten different vines. Also, he has been refining his staff with his essence. During this time, he had not made any effort to break into the Kaholo realm. He wants to push his strength as high as possible and let the breakthrough happen, naturally.
Although he has been training like a mad man lately, most of his effort has been focused on something entirely different. The mysterious book inside his soul. He has tried many times to figure out where it has originated from. No new skills or any type of information has been leaked through it to him.
On the other hand, the rotating staff, has given him a battle skill a couple weeks after arriving in the city. The Nine Swings of Heaven. The whole idea behind this skill is that the power from each swing gets heavier and heavier. Each swing stacks onto the first. Such that, the third swing is equal to the first and second put together, the third is equal to the first four added together and so on all the way up to the ninth swing. The power of the first swing depends on the physical body and strength of the user. Arbor has been practicing the skill sense then but has been unable to handle anything past the second swing.
Orion, Leo, and Sald have not been seen or heard of since they had entered seclusion. Arbor figured that they are taking so long due to the lack of essence in the realm and this will slow down their cultivation progress by around sixty percent.
Arbor dedicated one day to studying the booklet from the blacksmith guild. He flipped open the first page and realized that he knew that one easily, and the second, third, fourth, and fifth. At the twenty seventh in a row he decided to flip to a random page. Sure enough, he knew the material and all the properties and the best way to smelt it and eliminate any impurities in it.
He did not know where he learned this information or who exactly taught it to him. This is not this first time that is has happened either. When he was at school, he realized that he had already knew information that the professors were teaching him. At the herb shop he was able to name every flower, herb, ginseng, root, and everything in there with a single glance.
He had finally realized that he does have a extraordinary background but someone is protecting themselves by erasing their memory of him. Either it be for good or bad reasons. Now that he is in a completely different realm, he knows that he will have to put off finding out who or what exactly as blurred and erased some of his memories.
"Hopefully, the division master is in today." Arbor said as he left the inn.
