12 Dodgeball

"Orion,Tagas, nice of you two show up on time today. If you will take your seats, we will start early today." A ancient voice greet the two as they entered the classroom.

Long grey hair gently hangs over a wrinkly gloomy face that blends into an equally long grey beard that droops down to the waste of the hunch back aged man. Hooded gray eyes, set delicately within their sockets, watch vigorously over the haven as they have for the past millennia.

This is the face of Elder Ocas, a true pioneer among werewolves. He stands small among others, despite his tough frame. No one knows how long he has lived or his back story, not even the other elders in the school. here is an aura around this elder that drives those around him to honor him and respect him.

"Todays class will be focused on training your body. If you will all make your way to the field you can begin your exercises." Elder Ocas instructed.

The class of twenty students filed out of the classroom and crossed the street to their designated field. Upon arriving at the open barren field, the students noticed seven perfectly round metallic balls the size of melons spread out in a line, splitting the field in half.

"Dodgeball?" Arbor thought to himself.

"Today's lesson will involve a little bit of team work, strength, and skill. I will split you into two even teams, based on your cultivation levels. The rules are fairly simple, if you get hit by one of those balls, you are out, if you cross the middle line you are out, if you step out of bounds you are out. You can use any means necessary to hit the opposing team with one of the balls."

"There are three rounds in total. The first round you will only be able to use the strength of your body. In the second round you will be able to use your essence and weapons, if applicable, but no battle skills will be allowed. For the final round, everything is open to use. The winning team gets contribution points."

The class got split into two even teams consisting of ten members. Arbor and Orion got put on opposing teams. Both teams are lined up at the back lines and are waiting for the signal to start. Arbor looked across the court to see who he would be racing against to get a ball.

"Nea huh? She focused on his upper body and torso area. She has barbarian traits. I got this." Arbor calculated in his head.

"Ready….Go."

At the signal Arbor, took off sprinting, and covered the fifty feet in a split second, beating Nea with ease. The past four months Arbor has had enough practice in running from Ashliel to place him in the top of his class in speed. Although Arbor had successfully calculated him winning the race to the ball, he had miscalculated in one area, strength. He went to pick up the metallic ball and move backwards at the same time. As he went to move backwards the ball only moved half an inch!

"All speed and no strength. Lets hope you can dodge forever." Nea provoked.

"Don't you worry, I can last for a long time." Arbor sassed as he retreated backwards with a wink. His eyes wondered around the opponents to see whom had a ball in their hand while he retreated forty feet.

Nea grabbed the ball that Arbor had failed to acquire. She took two steps back and flung the ball towards Arbors waist. The ball was thrown with enough speed that a whistle was heard and faint shadows could be seen trailing behind the ball.

Arbors natural instincts told him to dodge left to put him on the left boundary. The ball missed by a couple inches. But another is inbounded for his head right after he dodged. A quick duck placed him underneath the second ball.

Two loud thuds sounded out in the array as the two balls smashed against the barrier. Once they came in contact with the barrier they would drop to the floor and stay there until someone picked one up.

"What the fuck are those things made of?" Arbor mumbled with a puzzled toned. He couldn't pick up the first one on a whim, and the force that they just

The seven balls kept flying across the court and Arbor kept dodging. Minutes later Arbors team has four left while the opposing team has six. Arbor went to pick up a ball, but he soon realized that throwing it was not a practical possibility. He could pick it up by using both hands and raise it up, but the best he could do is launch the ball from his should some thirty to forty feet. Thus, he concluded that he would only dodge for the rest of this match.

As Arbor is currently moving side to side on through the court dodging all the incoming balls. "My God. I hate balls in my face."

Five minutes passed and Arbor is stuck in a difficult position. It is now Arbor along with another classmate against Orion, Nea and two others. Arbors body was shifting between the balls as they are being thrown at him. Each time one would pass by him, he would carry it over to his teammate.

"Roshi, you are pretty much on your own here. They will have better luck seeing the headmaster than getting me out." Arbor started the conversation with his teammate.

"Do you best to get me the balls as quickly as possible. I'll try my hardest."

Roshi had gotten two players out before he was finally eliminated. Eventually it was Arbor against Orion and another person. Both of them have a clear advantage in strength as they were able to throw the balls. Once all seven of the balls fell onto Arbors side he conceded. He knew he had no chance since he is unable to lift the balls with his weak upper body strength.

"Elder Ocas, just how heavy are these balls?"

"Each of these balls weighs exactly 2,500 pounds." The old man responded.

This answer caused Arbor's jaw to drop. He calculated that if the balls were five hundred pounds less he would be able to throw them with ease.

"You have ten minutes to recuperate and heal any injuries, for those of you who have them. Remember, this time you are able to use weapons and essence, but no battle skills." Ocas instructed.
