6 OATH AND PROMISE

Meyrlion looked at Jack in amazement. A traveller of space and time that is thrown from the realm of his own right! Meyrlion became excited. Throughout his life, he has been very interested in magic and alchemy regarding space and time and other worlds behind the dimensions of dimensions. Although his family opposed it because they considered space and time magic research to be not productive, Meyrlion was unable to fight his passion for wisdom in the dimensions of space and time.

Meyrlion breathed deeply until the aroma of tobacco and cloves burned by Jack filled his chest cavity.

"You know Jack, space and time are my greatest interests. Even though my family is a reliable mage group, not many can satisfy my interest in the secrets of space and time. There are a lot of big islands which is considered as member of Mysticias Continent. Niujvantara archipelago, Phanaphecius archipelago, Balakka archipelago are also member of Mysticias Continent. And Vajya island is a member of those archipelago, Niujvantara. And we called our world as Iocyania.

In Vajya Islands itself, it consists of three major kingdoms. Kingdom of Jung Kulon at the west, Kingdom of Jung Geluh at the east, and Kingdom of Magelang at the centre of Vajya Island. We are now stay in Magetan Duchy, specialterritory of Magelang Kingdom, under the administration of the Arch Duchess of Nindya Titania.

To the south and north are unoccupied land without master. No one dare to claim those lands, due the dangerous being who are dwelling there. Beyond those barren lands, laid beaches and the sea. While the southern part is directly connecting to the great ocean, the northern part is connected to sea of Vajya.

We only have two climate season, rainy session and dry session. Between them are sub season called spring and autumn.

We have a lot of active volcanoes. They are sometimes erupted. But don't worry, seems like it always happened every few hundred years, maybe less. Sometimes we must face the earthquake too.

Flood, landslides and storms often happened during rainy session, as well as the disturbance of large waves in the sea that hit the land.But don't worry, it is a solid prove that our ancestor always survived to those natural disaster."Meyrlion laughed. He doesn't aware that Jack's face turns pale after hearing his last words. "What you say? wave attack from the sea? It's a tsunami and I had bad memory about those.", said Jack inwardly.

"How about the citizen of Magelang Kingdom? How they live their life?" Jack asked Meyrlion while exhale his smoke.

Meyrlion look at Jack's face which seemed to put on a matchless expression of pleasure. "Is it so good to suck the smoke from that thing?" Ask Meyrlion's mind. "I want to try it"

Jack glanced at Meyrlion. He was surprised to see his facial expression that seemed to hold back a desire. "Do you want something?" Jack offered Meyrlion.

Without hesitation, he picked it up and tucked it in his lips. Then the tip of his finger lit a fire that appeared out of nowhere.

Jack smiled. "That's the coolest way for a mage to light a cigarette ... Honestly, I'm jealous" Jack laughed while giving Meyrlion a thumbs up.

While Meyrlion coughed in his first experience. Cough ...

"Just relax, inhale slowly, enjoy, hold for second to enjoy and exhale slowly ... enjoy the sensation ..." Jack laughed while practicing his smoking method.

Meyrlion try to mimic him. After coughing several times, finally he can do it perfectly and starting to enjoy that smoking activity. Soon, he starts to respond to Jack's question with confidence, "There are only five big cities in Magelang Kingdom, the capital Magelang city itself, called Magelang City. To the north there is Am Brava City, Osloa City to the east, Jagya City to the south and the last one, Vanasava City to the west.

People live from agricultural, land fisheries, livestock, trade in handicrafts such as fabrics and jewellery. And we are using gold coin as money." Meyrlion exhales his smoke while put his cool attitude on act.

Jack laughed. He found that this person is so interesting and fun to talk. Just like his old-school mate.

"May I ask you something Jack?" Meyrlion asked.

"Sure, why not?" said Jack while making two cups of coffee.

"Do you ever do magic?"

"No. I can't do that. There are no magic in my previous world. And no one teach me."

"Jack, Are you sure?"

"Yes, off course. Hey, do you want to drink a cup of coffee? This is a best buddy for talking with a friend, and best match for smoking."

Meyrlion eyes glistened with curious. Coffee? What is that? Seems too delicious. And he received a cup of coffee from Jack without hesitation anymore. " You know Jack, you really know how to enjoy the life. I hope you'll teach me more."

Jack laughed, "Sure.it's my pleasure."

"Jack, I've sensed a very familiar vibe comes from you. It's very similar to the vibe that comes from anotherfellow mage practitioner. Judging from your magicless background, I'm very curious. Do you meetany mage recently? It seems she or he has just given you a gift called magical power."

"Well, you are the first mage I've ever met, brother Meyrlion. No one else. But, I just have a dream that I met a mage called Ferlon Titan."

"What? Jack, how do you know my grandfather?"

Jack shrugged his shoulders, and then he drinks a sip of coffee with full of enjoyment, "How do I know brother? I was fall asleep after treating your wounds, and then, he comes to my dream and he said he will give something as thank you gift after treating his grandchild.

For a moment before, I only believed that it was a good dream that came from my subconscious mind, which was formed by my previous experience. But when I first spoke with you, I just realized that somehow, I suddenly had the instant ability to understand your words, Vajya's native language.

I swore that I have no idea to understand your language.It is not possible for a sudden traveller like me who never came to Vajya to have Vajya's native language skills.

I thought that this was what Elder Ferlon meant with his gift. And I am very grateful."

Meyrlion looked stunned. "Did my grandfather say anything about me?"

"Yes, he complained about you to me." Jack laughed. "He doesn't understand why his beloved grandson, the only heir, refuses to inherit his mage's knowledge, and becomes his successor." Jack paused to exhale from his cigarette and take sipped coffee. "You really are in the age of your rebellion, aren't you? But I like the way you take your own way, to live your live to the fullest. That's what a man should be, I think so."

Meyrlion laughed "I know he always complained about my choice. But what can I say? I don't have any desire to do that, you know?Even though all the people in Magetan City wants me to become the strongest mage in Vajya, I have no passion to do that. My passion lies in the subjects about time and space magic. It is very challenging for me." Meyrlion then exhale from his cigarette and sipped coffee, mimicking his companion. Soon he realizes that he was starting to enjoy this life style. "Those are good things, Jack. I like it. I hope you still have much more, because I'm starting addicted to these." Myerlion smile.

"No worry brother." said Jack while lifting his cup to Meyrlion.

"I believe, what my grandfather meant with gifts is not only that, Jack. I can prove it. Because I feel the vibrations of a magician practitioner from your body. If I'm not mistaken ..." Meyrlion said, pointing his index finger at Jack. A second later, white light came out of his finger to Jack.

Then some light come out from Jack body, performing seven rainbow coloured circle with a specific insignia that looks like a magical Sigel or magical circuit.

Jack only dumbfounded watching this scenery.

Meyrlion laughed. "From the moment I was born up until now, I always be alone without another sibling. I don't have any cousin either. Seems like my grandfather has appoint you to become my brother. That magical insignia was a solid proof, no one outside out bloodline will have such specific magical insignia. It was not just that, there are a lot of meaning behinds the inheritance of that insignia, my grandfather seed of power and knowledge has been passed unto you. And that's mean, right now my grandfather was no longer alive."

Jack is surprised by Meyrlion words. "How come? Did you say your grandfather was just passed away because of me?

Jack pondered at Meyrlion's words. His face was gloomy and sad. He exhaled his cigarette smoke again. "Really, I am sorry for his death, my brother. My deepest condolences."

"All we can only do now is accomplished his last wish, Jack. Can you help me?" a smoke seen to be exhaled from his lips

"Sure, just tell me what I cando?"

"Follow me", said Meyrlion. He stood up then walked outside the room. A dark and cold night immediately greeted him intimately. He then stood up in the middle forecourt. "Please imitate me", said him.

Jack nodded. He follows Meyrlion example and stood up beside him.

"I, Meyrlion Titan swear an oath, witnessed by the universe and the blessing of the ancestors, by declaring this soul fraternity with ... "

"I, Jake Nagara known as Jack swear an oath, witnessed by the universe and the blessing of the ancestors, by declaring this soul fraternity with ... "

"Meyrlion Titan, to support each other and to have a sense of concern and equality to build togetherness and soul brotherhood."

Meyrlion then take out a knife from his pocket and slice off the left arm to bleed. Then he gave the knife so that Jack did the same. Then the two arms that are flowing blood are put together.

All Sigel circles appear on it, then followed by the sound of thunder and lightning shouting three times.

"Then, we are soul dan blood brother to each other." said Myerlion closing this ceremony.

"We are soul dan blood brother to each other." said Jack mimicking Myerlion. Then he followed by litting a new cigarettes dan put it in the ground. "To all spirit of nature and our ancestor..."

"Thank you, Jack."

"No problem, brother."

"By the way. May I ask you something?"

"What is it?"

"I know that you come not from the same world with me. And your civilization seems far more advanced than ours. Can you promise me not to interfere with our current civilization development? At least, keep it at very minimum level. "

"I won't interfere. Forcing sudden development would produce un expected result and usually it will be so bad. My world has suffered from sudden and imbalance development to, since agricultural revolution. I won't interfere, as possible as I can. If it is not force majeureoccurred, I will keep my promise, bro"

"What is force majeure?"
