6 Meeting the in-laws

A week has passed since the masked ball and Liz could not get the masked man out of her mind.

'Who is he?' Liz wondered.

'Whoever he is if I ever meet him again I will castrate him for his shamelessness.'

Thinking about the man the image of Ares appeared in her mind.

The description of his outward appearance in the novel would match with the outward appearance with that man, Liz thought.

'Could it be him?'

But Liz drove away that thought.

According to the novel Ares was sweet and kind to Eleanor until her 19 birthday when they were officially wedded. He was a decent guy not a shameless man-wh*re.

Now Liz is 16.

She has three years in order to prevent her tragic destiny.

'I will change my fate. No matter what.' Liz thought determinedly.

Suddenly her stomach growled.

'But at first I will eat something.'

Dining Hall

"How was the masked ball my baby?" asked the queen curiously.

The queen and the king were all week long occupied with state affairs.

They ate in their office.

Therefore, Liz barely saw her parents.

Remembering the shameless guy Liz responded:

"Well, it definitely was a once in a lifetime experience."

The queen and the king were satisfied with this answer.

However, they did not know the hidden meaning of her words.

She never wanted to experience such a thing again.

Thinking of the guy Liz really has to hold back her urge to puke.

"Anyway, my baby today we got an invitation of your parents in – law. They wanted to see you again. But if you still don't feel ready I can find an excuse." explained the queen.

"No it's fine mom. I can handle it." said Liz with a gentle smile.

"Alright, let's eat. I am hungry." declared the king.

'Well he does not have to tell me this twice.' thought Liz while staring greedily at her food and feeling her mouth watering.

She looked like a wolf ready to pounce on his prey.

When Liz finished brunch a carriage was already prepared for her.

After Liz arrived at the palace of Mazeldovia, she was warmly greeted by her in – laws.

They led her to the living room, where a certain someone already expected her.

"Ares." Liz murmured.

As soon as everyone sat comfortably the gossip began.

"So how was the masked ball to you, dear?" asked queen Melanie Liz.

"Well it was an unforgettable experience." said Liz with a wry smile.

Ares only stared deeply at her after he heard her comment.

Liz noticed his intensive stare.

'What's there to see douchebag?'

"You know dear our Ares danced with a beautiful lady with a long golden gown. It was as golden as the sun." the queen said dreamingly.

Liz was dumbfounded.

There was no other woman who wore a golden gown than her and she did not dance with someone else after her traumatic experience with the shameless guy.

'So the shameless guy was indeed him!'

How many times she dreamed to castrate and strangle the guy to death if she ever finds out about his identity, only then her anger would be pacified.

And here her in-laws presented him and yet she could not fulfill her dreams.

A big grin appeared on Ares face seeing her irritated expression.

'She must have found out that it was me' he thought.

Liz saw Ares's triumphant smile.

'Continue to grin and I'm so going to scratch your face!' her eyes signalled.

However, he just looked at her with an amused expression which signalled:

'Try it if you dare.'

'He sure is tired of living.'

She could feel her fury rising inside of her and yet she could not show her claws.

Interrupting the staring contest between the two the queen suggested:

"Eleanor, it's been a long time since we heard your singing voice. Why don't you sing something for us? Ares can accompany you with the piano. Afterall, you have such a beautiful angelic voice."

Liz facial expression turned pale.

'Singing?! My voice sounds like a cat choking a hairball out.'

"Sure why not." replied Ares.

Liz stared at him with a scow.

'If I refuse I would be rude as Ares already give his permission. I would offend him and his parents. Furthermore, Ares would be suspicious of me as the previous body owner loved singing and would not miss any chance to sing.'

Liz sighed in defeat.

"Yeah sure why not." said Liz with a stiff expression.

However, Liz remembered that she does not know any songs of this world.

She started to panic internally.

Then she remembered that this is a fantasy novel. Therefore, everything was possible, right? Knowing the song which the other started like in those disney movies which Rose enjoyed to watch with her.

Liz always thought it is nonsense that the other person would know the lyrics of the song which the other person just composed.

But now she really hoped it would work.

Liz then started to sing and surprisingly Ares played the piano melody of the song which she had in mind.

'Princess Eleanor voice really sounds like an angel. Well, she was not a good-for-nothing which I always thought.' thought Liz.

The royal couple clapped excitedly their hands.

"Bravo you guys should sing this song also on your wedding." suggested the royal couple in chorus.

"We will think about it." replied Ares.

Ares then turned to Liz and whispered to her ear

"Good job Miss Glutton."

"You were not so bad Mr. Shameless." said Liz with a wry smile.

"I can't wait to make you Mrs. Shameless." retorted Ares while licking his lip.

'Who wants to marry you?! Any normal ticking human being would commit suicide if they were in my position. But I have to endure you for Rose.'

"We will see about that." responded Liz with a cracked smile.

"Liz you sang this song especially emotionally, did you think about a certain someone?" the queen asked in a teasing tone.

Liz cheeks burned and she lowered her head in embarrassment.

She thought about food.

The royal couple were satisfied with her reaction.

"Honey, you should not put our future daughter-in-law in such an akward position." the king advised since he sympathised with her situation.

But the queen did not intent to listen to her husband and another thought popped up in her mind.

"Liz did your parents already told you about your date with Ares tomorrow?" asked queen Melanie curiously.

"What date?" Liz asked with a frown.

"The date we are going to have tomorrow. After all, your parents and my parents want us to spend some quality time." answered Ares.

Liz froze.

She and the shameless guy on a date to spend some quality time?!

Just thinking about it almost made her puke.

"No my parents did not tell me about it." Liz responded respectfully.

'Probably the did not want to give me a heart attack.'

"No you know about it, so don't forget our date." Ares reminded her.

After some time Liz was brought home.

'Okay, I have to get sick super fast so I can skip this stupid date.'
