26 Chapter 26

Days seemed to run together, they were sitting in the living room playing a board game. Which Olivia had grown to love because she had never done such as a child. There was a knock on the door and Lucas got up.

When he came back, her heart sank. Bernard was there too. Olivia got up and greeted him hesitantly. "Hello."

Bernard sneered at her, "Olivia."

Lucas pulled her hand as they sat across to Bernard on the couch. Bernard turned to Lucas, "I have great news."

"Tell me all about it." Lucas said.

"A truck is coming with my things later on. I need you to help renovate the place I am moving to."

Olivia was shocked, she didn't think he would come down so soon. She didn't want to start to panic but she felt closed in.

Days went by and Lucas went to Bernard's place to help him renovate his place. He didn't live that far from them. When the time came, they took his belongings and moved it to his new place. Olivia made some supper for all of them.

She watched Lucas and Bernard chat and she took the dishes to the sink when they were done eating.

Olivia heard Lucas enter the kitchen and turned around. Her eyes widened when she realized that it wasn't him, but Bernard.

He looked as if he wanted to say something, so she just stood there, waiting for him to speak.

"I see you are back." Bernard said.

"Yes, I am."

"Why?"

"Because I am with Lucas."

Bernard laughed outright, "You think I don't know?"

"Know what?"

"That you ran away and went back to be a prostitute."

Olivia felt hurt, "Lucas told you that." Her voice became small.

"He told me the part about you running away, when he was looking for you and I pieced together the rest."

She had no defence. He was right,

"How long are you staying for this time?"

"For as long as Lucas would have me."

"Don't make me laugh Olivia. You and I both know it will be much sooner than that."

Lucas appeared, and he watched the two of them. "What are you two talking about?" he asked.

"Just catching up." Bernard said. Olivia nodded not wanting to add more stress onto Lucas. She would bear with Bernard and act as if everything is fine as long as Lucas was happy, then all was well.

"I will call it an evening." Bernard said.

"Let me walk you a bit." Lucas replied.

With that they left, and Olivia breathed out. She finished her chores and went to bed right away. Lucas got into the room a bit later.

"What did you two really talk about?" he asked.

"Nothing much." As she shrugged it off.

Lucas didn't question her anymore and he changed and got into bed. They woke up the next morning and did their usual routine.

The day went by and she made supper and waited for Lucas to come in. When he came, he kissed her cheek, and then sat down. She served him some food.

"This looks delicious." He said.

"Thank you." As she was pleased.

She sat down,

"How was your day?" he asked.

"It was good and yours?"

"Well, what…..." He was interrupted by a knock on the door, "Must be Bernard."

"Come in." Lucas yelled.

He was right, Bernard did emerge. "I hope I am not intruding." But he didn't seem the least remorseful.

"What brings you by?" Lucas asked.

"Well I need to show you something." As Bernard smiled at him.

Bernard moved aside, and a girl emerged.

"Lucas!" she squealed.

Lucas got up, "Maya."

She went into his arms and he picked her up and twirled her around.

Olivia felt something twist in her and she saw that Bernard was staring at her with a smug look on his face. relishing in her demise.
