23 Chapter 23
Olivia woke up panicking and she realized that it was dark, and she was in Lucas's arms. She remembered that she had fallen asleep in his arms which meant that he had carried her to the bedroom.
She shifted slightly and looked at his face. He looked so peaceful, she couldn't believe that he had forgiven her that easily. She touched his face lightly when she remembered the tears in his eyes. He had cried for her.
His face was smooth, and his cheeks felt so warm, when she touched them. Olivia withdrew her hand slowly. She curls more into him and falls asleep.
Olivia opens her eyes and it's dawn. She shifts a bit.
"Are you awake?" Lucas said in a light tone.
"Yes, I am." She replied eagerly.
"Can you do me a favour?" said Lucas.
"Yes, anything."
"Can you tell me how you met Khloe and all."
Olivia took a deep breath and she started, "well you see it all began when I ran away from Reynold. I was lucky that I had stolen enough money to get a train and move to the town by Donovan road. I got there, and I realized that this money would not be enough to sustain me for long. I hadn't even wondered far when a certain someone called me."
"Khloe." Lucas said.
"Yes. You guessed it. She called me and at first, I wanted to be cautious, but I threw away my misgivings because she was female, and she seemed so nice. The first conversation we had was of her asking me who I was, and she emphasized that I was pretty."
Lucas nodded his head.
"I asked her where I could find a cheap place, and where I could get a job. She said she had it all figured out for me because she would make sure that I got all that I needed. It didn't feel right because everything comes with a price."
"Not always." Lucas said.
"Yes, it does, you have to think about it."
"My love doesn't come with a price. It's for free." he grins at her.
Olivia feels herself being drawn to his smile, "Anyways, where was I?"
"Everything comes with a price." Said Lucas.
"Oh yeah. I wanted to refuse her offer, but I was hungry and didn't know where to go. I thought I would sleep it out and then decide on what to do the next morning. We got to a building with single rooms. The room was very small with a rumpled bed and it was affordable. That was all that I was looking for."
"Okay." Lucas motioned for me to carry on.
"Khloe said she had taken care of everything, she said I should freshen up for dinner, which I did and then we went to the dining area across the building. There were so many craftsmen there and I felt very suffocated from the number of stares that I had got."
Olivia takes another deep breath, "We finished eating and I went back into my room. About an hour later I heard a knock by the door and wondered who it was. But then Khloe spoke, and I opened the door and next to her stood two guys. They started to fight over me, but I didn't get what was going on."
Olivia's face looks strained as she carries on, "I wanted to talk to Khloe on the side, but I wasn't given that choice when one of the men grabbed me and closed the door. There and there I closed my eyes and turned off my emotions. I knew it would never end. No matter how much I ran there was never a rainbow on the other end."
"I'm sorry." Lucas said.
"Please don't say that Lucas, I made many choices that I shouldn't have. Some things are just fate, and in that moment, I knew I was meant to be a prostitute and nothing else."
Lucas cups her cheek and looks her in the eye,
"No my love, you just haven't found your calling."
