Chapter 256 - Draft
Andrea dropped by the hotel's souvenir shops to buy a gift for Aunt Rosa and the twin's caregivers when she came across sets of gold plated stainless steel chopsticks. She pursed her lips at the sight of it and knew she would end up buying them.
She had avoided using chopsticks as a weapon since Yeong and Li Wen had helped organize Amaryllis' death, but because of familiarity, there were jobs wherein she ended up using them.
Still, she picked up the chopsticks and murmured, "You will only be used for food."
Andrea wanted to have her husband all to herself at the backseat of the car so she insisted that Hanxi and one other bodyguard ride with Megan in the other vehicle. This will also provide them with help with security if they ever needed any.
Bolin sat in front of their car with the other security guard took the wheel.
Lu Fang noticed his wife was especially affectionate ever since last night. During the drive, she hugged his arm and often leaned on his shoulder for a nap. She even stole a kiss or two on his cheek.
He wondered if she had really come to realize she was in love with him. He cleared his throat before asking, "Babe, do you already love me?"
She chuckled at the question but refused to respond, merely snuggling into his arms.
"Babe?" He asked again but still the same. His wife just giggled at him.
"What do you think?" She finally answered after minutes of anticipation.
The man's eyes narrowed at her. He smirked and encircled his arm around her shoulders before leaning forward and whispering to her ears, "I think now, you are more in love with me than I am with you... Am I that good in bed?"
Andrea laughed thoroughly, pushing him away with both her hands before punching him in the arm three times. "Ouch! Ahhh! Babe," Lu Fang complained. "You know my arm is hurting right now after all that planking you made me do all night up until dawn."
Hearing his words, her eyes grew wide as she checked for Bolin's reaction. Thankfully, he was merely looking at the road. She punched him one time in his stomach where his muscles probably hurt the most.
After making her husband quickly groan in pain, she went back giggling and hugged him tightly. "Babe," she scolded. "Please, be more discrete."
"It's okay, Mrs. Lu. Haha! I am already used to it," Bolin said, apparently having heard their conversation. His revelation made Andrea flushed altogether.
Lu Fang found his wife's actions rather odd. All that punching made him think she was her old self. Only his old Andy could be so bold to hurting him and make it seem like an act of endearment.
Last night, his wife cried while they were making love. It worried him, but she told him she was only happy. Her responses filled his heart with warmth. He knew things were coming back to the way it was. There was only one thing left undone; their wedding.
After half an hour on the road, Andrea fell asleep and Lu Fang began to give instructions to Bolin about their wedding. Having been postponed twice, he recognized it's importance.
They already in the middle of their journey when suddenly, their tires exploded. Both the couple's and Megan's cars were affected.
Their car swiveled, almost hitting Megan's vehicle that followed, also struggling to stop. It woke up Andrea from her sleep, making her hold on to her husband's arm firmly.
"What happened?" She asked.
"I don't know," replied the man as he phoned in Hanxi to asses the situation.
Minutes passed after Hanxi together with the other bodyguard had inspected the tires and the pavement. Ultimately, they approached Lu Fang's car and reported.
"There are triangular nail spikes everywhere," Hanxi said as the man rolled down his window.
As they strategized, another set of tires exploded. There was another passerby who fell victim to the trap. It was an SUV, struggling to keep on the road due to its speed while accelerating.
As it went past them, Hanxi saw there were children in the car. Thus, he rushed to aid those in the SUV. Everyone from both cars stepped outside their vehicles hoping to help. Thankfully, the family was safe.
"We have to be careful. This was obviously planned," Lu Fang said before turning to his wife. "Babe, can you ask Li Wen for help?"
"Already on it?" Andrea said, holding the phone up to her ear.
Megan, who had earlier come out of the car, was staring blankly at the spikes on the road. Seconds later she took the initiative of pushing some of them to the side of the pavement. Her assistant and Bolin did the same.
"At least the other cars won't have an accident," Megan reasoned.
Hanxi and the two bodyguards examined their surroundings. There were no nearby structures nor land formations to hide any possible sniper. Nevertheless, Lu Fang suggested that they at least take cover from behind the cars.
"General Lie was with Li Wen when I called. He said, he will send his men instead of brother Ting's," said Andrea.
The man nodded at her feedback, but it did not take long for his wife to probe about the General, "I guess we are really that close with Lie Dong, ha?"
He pursed his lips before responding, "I had my fair share of jealousy over him, but thankfully he found a wife of his own."
Andrea recalled a few gatherings where they engaged in a conversation with the General, but could not perfectly remember everything just yet. She let out a sigh and reminded herself things were coming back. She just needed to relax and let it come naturally.
Moments later, a tourist bus passed by and those who were inside the vehicle saw their predicament. Two Caucasian men stepped down to check on them and offered to take them to Guangzhou. The family other immediately agreed, relieved to have found help.
Lu Fang and his party, however, politely refused the offer, explaining that help was on the way for them. Strangely, they were persistent, suggesting it was safer especially there were women in their group.
A few other men from the tourist bus wearing casual clothes came down. One of them in particular consistently starred at Andrea utterly provoking Lu Fang.
"Get inside the car, Andy," he said adamantly. He then turned his gaze to the tourist and repeated himself, "We do not need your help. You may leave."
The tall white man who stood meters away from Lu Fang shook his head in dismay. Unexpectedly, he said, "I'm afraid. You don't have a choice, Mr. Lu. You are coming with us."
