74 Chapter 74 – Capital City

Zhu Xuan reached the capital city in ten days after leaving the Snowcape Demon Mountain.
The capital city of Lei Shu Kingdom is formed in a circle with a mountain range on the east side extending as far as eye can see.
Lei Shu academy occupies the mountain range side with its outer walls facing the mountain. The academy forms a C-shaped area, covering half the walls of the capital city.
The imperial army covers the other half of the outer wall on the west side and there are two entrances to the city on the north and south side and the gates are protected by Lei Shu Academy and the imperial army from each side.
Capital city is divided into four parts by the main roads in a cross shape. The West side road ends at the entrance of the imperial palace, which has its back to the city wall protected by the imperial army; east main road ends at Lei Shu Academy entrance while the north and south road ends at the city entrance.
The imperial family, the ten noble clans and some major clan controls the west half of the city, while the east half of the city belongs to the residents, merchants and minor clans and families, though it is under the control of Lei Shu Academy.
Zhu Xuan spent the entire day to go travelling through the city to familiarize himself with it and to find out various important places like Heaven's Alchemy pavilion, Qinglu Treasures pavilion, Lei Shu action House.
It is still three days away from the competition. He wanted to meet Wu Qian Ren and the rest, but he is not sure whether they are in the academy or in their clan and if the invitation in his hand is enough to visit them or he will be blocked in then entrance.
He finally decided he will go to the Heaven's alchemy pavilion and get himself registered as an alchemist officially and get the alchemy token. Since he was taught by his aunt and was busy with various things, he didn't have time to get tested to become an official alchemist. This will help him tremendously if he wants to sell pills in the future.
He found a decent inn and booked for three days stay. The next morning he freshened up and approached the alchemy pavilion. There were many queues in the pavilion and people are buying various pills and potion.
After inquiring, he walked further in and found a young woman in the counter mentioning registration and approached her.
When he reached her, Li Niu just took out a sheet and asked "Your name, Age, clan and the grade of alchemy test?"
Li Niu joined the alchemy pavilion because she was interested in alchemy and aspired to achieve great in this field. She also wanted to help her brother, who is a businessman, by gaining some connections. But she was disappointed because she had been assigned to the counter of first time registers for alchemy exam. And most of the first time registers are mostly from major clans and they go directly to the higher ups and she spends her time standing in the counter most of the day doing nothing feeling helpless to not get any recognition because of this particular job.
So she wasn't very interested in one or two cultivators who come now and then and just wanted to finish her job and be done with it.
Zhu Xuan didn't think about her attitude much and answered plainly "Shikong Shen, 15 years old, I'm a rogue cultivator and here to register for mid grade apprentice alchemist."
"What?" She shouted loudly in shock attracting everyone's attention.

Zhu Xuan was puzzled at why this girl acting like this and said with a clear tone "Yes, that's right. Register for my test."
Zhu Xuan's surroundings burst in laughter once he finished speaking and everyone had a derisive smile looking at him. Zhu Xuan frowned at their reaction when Li Niu spoke in a low tone "No one has ever seen a rogue cultivator to be well versed in alchemy at such a young age, only cultivators of major clans are good at alchemy at your age and they are considered talented in alchemy."
Now he understood why the crowd around him reacted that way and calmed down. He smiled at her and said "Thanks for explaining it to me. Can you please register for my test now?"
She nodded animatedly and entered his detail in a sheet with a seal and gave it to him "Go inside the hall and enter the second hall from the left."
He thanked her again and entered the hall and found multiple doors on both sides and understood each door is for different grade of test and entered the second door in the left.
The crowd didn't disperse and waited for him to come out believing he will make a fool out of himself in the test.
One hour later Zhu Xuan walked out of the room and the crowd started laughing seeing him come out, but the next second the entire place became silent because an old man followed behind him to send him off with cupped hands and said "Looking forward to seeing you soon again Alchemist Shen."
Li Niu and the rest of the crowd's eyes were wide open seeing this scene because they know the old man was the examiner who is a master alchemist.
No one could blame them for laughing when Zhu Xuan came out at first because the exam took place for one hour and then there is the procedure of verifying the quality of the pill and if he succeeded, he would receive a token with his name and grade engraved which will take some time. So once he came out exactly an hour later everyone thought he failed.
If they knew that Zhu Xuan actually finished the exam in less than half the time and forming a pill of peak grade, they would be so shocked they would have spit blood.
After gaining the Bodhi essence fire, he has incredible control over fire to the extent he felt like it is a part of him like moving his hands. With his incredible control and practice for the past two months and his fire enhanced by essence fire, his pill concocting time has reduced a lot and the grade of pill also improved faster than his usual practice.
The old man was so shocked when he saw the fire control of Zhu Xuan and the speed he is refining the ingredients and concocting the pill and was amazed. He was even more shocked when he saw the final product was a peak grade pill and immediately sent message to the manager of the pavilion about the situation.
