45 Chapter 45 – Selection Begins

After keeping all the materials, Zhu Jia Li suddenly thought of something and said "Forgot to tell you Little Xuan, Zhu Lang came back few days ago. You be careful until you get selected by the Lei Shu Academy."

Zhu Xuan was shocked for a moment but calmed down soon and said "Well, I did expect him to breakthrough to Qi gathering stage and come back for the selections."

Zhu Jia Li shook her head and replied "He didn't breakthrough to the Qi gathering and still at the peak of body purification stage. I'm not clear of the reason behind him not breaking through to the Qi gathering stage. Anyway, you be careful."

Zhu Xuan didn't give much thought to it and said "Don't worry Aunt. I will be resting and won't be going out before the selections."

After bidding farewell to his aunt and tenth sister, he went to his courtyard. He spent the rest of the time in making the realm breaking pill. Finally after few tries, he made two realm breaking pills. After that, he started practicing his skills and in meditation to consolidate his realm.

At the morning of the selections, he went out of the courtyard and moved to the inner city where the selections will be held. There is already a huge crowd surrounding the central plaza where the selections will be held. Zhu Xuan found his aunt and tenth sister sitting along with the few members of alchemy pavilion and walked towards them.

Zhu Jia Li and Zhu Meiying also saw Zhu Xuan walking towards them. Zhu Meiying shouted with a smile "Eighth brother, you are finally here."

Everyone turned around hearing the shout and looked at Zhu Xuan. They all heard how Zhu Xuan went against Second prince by killing his subordinates and went against the Law enforcement hall. They all know that both of the incidents is related to second prince and wondered where Eighth price got the courage to go against the Second prince.

Zhu Xuan didn't bother with all the eyes on him and happily talked with his Aunt and tenth sister.

While he was talking, he heard a voice from behind him "If it isn't Second brother; I heard you been doing well lately."

Zhu Xuan turned around and found a man in an elegant dress with a symbol of elephant with sword and spear in his left hand, which is the symbol of Lei Shu Academy, smiling at him. He gave an aura of pride and arrogance; even though he looked like a kind person with his lean face, sharp nose and serene smile, his eyes had a hint of evil and craftiness to it.

Zhu Xuan knew this person is his Second brother, Zhu Lang from his predecessor's memory. He stood up faced straight at his second brother without any fear and said with a mocking smile "Yes, I'm very well thanks to you Second brother."

Zhu Lang's lips twitched a little when he heard his brother's mocking tone, but he kept his smile and said "As long as you are well I'm happy Eighth brother."

But before he could say anything further, Zhu Xuan turned around, sat and started talking to his aunt and tenth sister.

Zhu Lang was angry that he was ignored and a cold glint showed in his eyes. He concealed it fast, gave a snort and walked away. For him, he didn't care much about his eighth brother. He only considered him as an ant he can squish anytime.

Everyone who was nearby was shocked by the exchange between the brothers. Even though there was not much talking, they could see that both of them are not going to reconcile at all.

Zhu Jia Li said with a worried face "Little Xuan, you shouldn't have acted like that to your second brother. He might make things difficult for you or try to kill you."

Zhu Xuan simply smiled and said "He already tried to smear my name throughout the entire city, send someone to arrest me and kill me. Do you expect me to give him face after all he did to me? And do you expect him to forget everything after how I retaliated if I give him face? So don't worry about it aunt"

Zhu Jia Li could only sigh because she understood Zhu Xuan's reasoning and said "Alright Little Xuan, but please be careful."

Zhu Xuan simply nodded and they continued talking about various things.

After sometime, five clan leaders also reached and moved to the stage in front of the two arena in the central plaza. There is a central seat for the envoy from the Lei Shu academy and seats to the left and right for the clan leaders.

Finally, an elder with white goat beard walked into the stage and sat in the center seat. He is the envoy who came for the selections Meng He Shan. He looked around and found Zhu Lang in the Zhu clan's sitting area.

He said loudly "Young master Lang, why don't you sit next to me and observe the selections?"

Everyone was shocked to hear the words of the envoy.

Lan Xin Ye, clan leader of the Lan Clan said "Isn't that inappropriate to make a clan member sit next to clan leaders and envoy."

Other clan leaders also nodded in agreement, except for Zhu Donglai.

Meng He Shan waved his hand and said in an arrogant tone "Young master Lang has already participated in the selections and can give good insights about the participating members. Even, I an envoy of Lei Shu academy didn't mind Young master Lang sitting and observing from the stage, why are you mere clan leaders of this small city bothered by it."

Even though all the other clan leaders are disgruntled by the arrogant words of the envoy, they didn't want to anger someone from the Lei Shu Academy. But they all thought "A mere outer court elder at the peak of Qi gathering stage acting high and mighty in front of us. He is definitely trying to curry favor with Zhu Lang since he will be inner court disciple soon."

But only Zhu Donglai smiled happily knowing the meaning behind the envoy's action..

After everyone settled down, Meng He Shan stood from his seat and spoke "Everyone, Welcome to the selections of Lei Shu academy. Before beginning the selections, there have been few changes made from this year for the selections by the upper echelons of the Lei Shu academy. First change, for the selections, only the disciples from the seventh level of the body purification and above are qualified to attend."

As soon as he finished, there was clamor all over the crowd. Before this, any disciple of the clan who reached fourth level of body purification stage can enter the selections but now it has been increased to seventh level.

"Silence" Meng He Shan shouted. He wasn't bothered by what they thought and continued "Second change, first three disciples from each group will receive the pills and weapons as rewards like previous selections, but the winner in each group will be allowed in the marrow cleansing pond for two hours once you reach the Lei Shu academy as an additional reward."

There was another clamor in the crowd and they were shocked to hear the winner will be allowed to enter marrow cleansing pond. Even though it is only two hours, it will help you cleanse your body and make it stronger; it will also help you in your cultivation to make your breakthrough easier by removing impurities.

Every disciple was excited to start the selection to become the winner so that they could get the chance to wash their body in marrow cleansing pond. Even Zhu Xuan was excited because after his breakthrough to his tenth level, lots of impurities are accumulated and this will help him a lot to breakthrough to the next level faster.

Meng He Shan silenced them again and continued "Now, everyone pass-through the barrier we set up to confirm whether you are above seventh level of body purification stage. Disciples from seventh to ninth level move to the left arena and disciples from tenth to twelfth level move to the right arena to pick your tokens. Your fight will be chosen based on the number on the tokens."

Zhu Xuan looked at the barrier gate which was shining with orange light and wondered "Why does the shape look like metal detectors in earth?"

Men He Shan continued after everyone calmed down "Selection of Lei Shu Academy officially begins."
