39 Chapter 39 – Pill Forming
He slept until the next day after applying medicines for his injuries and taking pills.
He woke up and started practising both of his sword techniques with his left hand. If his aunt knew he was practising, she would definitely yell at him.
After practising for a while, he went into his courtyard and started separating the treasures inside the spatial ring. He took the treasures he didn't need and put it separately in few bags. He couldn't use the gold bars in the city for purchase which will cause suspicion, so he was planning to sell these treasures to Senior Wuji and get some gold coins. He realised it was almost a month since he met Bai Ling and Senior Wuji.
Six days went by and all his injuries were healed except for his right hand. The bones in his hands mended but his hands are still weak, he can't use his hands for practice or in battle. He left the clan and moved towards Bai clan after changing himself, with a horse which was carrying a big bag. He was almost seen by someone in the alleyway when he changed his body so he was thinking he should rent a small courtyard for when he needs to change his identity, and it may also serve him as a safe house for his other identity.
He met with Senior Wuji after entering Bai clan, and sold all his things for one fifty thousand gold coins. He was grinning from ear to ear when he got the gold coins from Senior Wuji. He didn't sell everything among the treasures he didn't need, and only took around 30% for selling and kept the rest for later. He was happy about the fact that the price is good, and he has lots of stock left. If he ever get low on money, he can simply sell them.
He bid farewell to Senior Wuji once Bai Ling arrived. They went to the inner city and spent the day visiting various places such as treasures pavilion, famous restaurants, and finally spent time in a beautiful lake at sunset. After spending a great day with Bai Ling, he left the Bai clan and stayed in the outer city for the night in an inn.
The next morning he started searching for a place to rent. He finally found a small courtyard near the market area and rented it for three months with an amount of 30000 gold coins. He will be leaving for Lei Shu academy within two to three months after the selections, so he didn't need to rent it more than three months. After collecting the key from the buyer and checking out the courtyard, he returned to Zhu clan.

Another ten days went by without any event.

Zhu Xuan was in the hall of her Aunt's place in the Alchemy pavilion. He is sitting in front of a cauldron and using a fire from one of his hands to heat the cauldron and the other hand to throw the ingredients he had just purified for the pill at specific time into the cauldron.
Zhu Jia Li and Zhu Meiying was standing by the side and observing him.
He is currently concocting Qi Emergence pill. Qi Emergence pill would increase cultivator's speed of training twice in Body purification stage, by absorbing elemental Qi faster from heaven and earth.
An alchemist forming a pill has to fulfil three requirements. First and main requirement is the ability to control fire with accuracy.
Second requirement is the ability to multi task, an alchemist not only need to heat the cauldron and make the heat spread evenly with one hand, but also need to purify the ingredients with his other hand using fire at the same time. So you need different amounts of fire control in each of your hand based on the requirements of heat for both purifying the ingredient and the heat needed to be maintained in the cauldron.
Third requirement is understanding the nature of ingredients and the order of adding them need to form the pills.
For example, if you have a fire elemental ingredient in the cauldron, you can't add water or ice element ingredient next to the cauldron, which will result in the clash of their elements and blow the cauldron. You have to add an ingredient that will mend with the fire ingredient in the cauldron that will reduce its nature of fire slowly and then you need to add water or ice elemental ingredient to able to blend it with the rest of the ingredients to form the pill.
An hour passed by and Zhu Xuan was fully concentrating on forming the pill. He started sweating and he looked exhausted when he added the final ingredient inside the cauldron. He relaxed and now used both of his hands to control the heat in the cauldron which relieved his pressure a little.
Another fifteen minutes passed and a ting sound heard from inside the cauldron. He slowly reduced the heat of the cauldron, and once he completely extinguished the fire, he looked inside the cauldron with anticipation. Zhu Jia Li and Zhu Meiying also walked to the cauldron and looked inside. There were five green coloured pills inside the cauldron.
Zhu Jia Li used her Qi to take the five pills out of the cauldron and observed it carefully. She felt proud of her nephew; she smiled and said "Congratulations Little Xuan, with this you finally became a low level alchemist."
She paused and continued "Four of these pills are low grade pills and one is a mid grade pill. For your first time, creating a mid grade pill along with low grade pills is pretty good little Xuan."
Zhu Xuan relaxed after hearing his Aunt's assessment and smiled happily. Zhu Meiying also felt proud of her brother and congratulated him.
Zhu Jia Li went inside and came back with a silver blue cauldron after a few minutes. She handed it to him and said with a smile "This is the gift for becoming a low level alchemist Little Xuan. This is a good cauldron that can be useful for you until you reach the mid level alchemist, of course unless you blew up the cauldron."
Zhu Xuan felt grateful for this gift and thanked her "Thank you Aunt Jia Li. I will use it with care."
After that, she also gave him few pill formulas to practice alchemy. He thanked her again and read through all the pill formula. Once they all calmed down and he recovered his energy, he started concocting pill again with his newly obtained cauldron.
He needs to familiarise with the newly obtained cauldron, and also to use the success of pill forming to make few more pills and try to improve his concocting. He spent the whole day and night in the alchemy pavilion concocting pills and recovering energy simultaneously. He only stopped concocting the afternoon of next day after being satisfied with his progress. Now he is able to form a total of six pills and half pills with the quality of mid grade every time he concocts pills.
He sat down and swallowed some pills to recover his energy while thinking "Now I have familiarised with myself the process of forming pills and I own a cauldron. I can concoct pills as long as I have necessary ingredients. Now that this issue is solved, I need to concentrate on improving my cultivation and understanding of the concept of elements."
Zhu Xuan has been practising the techniques without stop in these few days, but he couldn't perceive the elements and reached a bottleneck, and unable to break through to completion realm in his techniques. Most powerful demon beast in the valley is a Mid level Qi gathering stage demon beast, and the rest are lower levels, so you will be safe."
Zhu Xuan thought about it and felt it was the best place for his training. He spoke with a smile "That's a perfect place for my training Aunt Jia Li."
