23 Chapter 23 – Zhu Meiying

Zhu Xuan slept late until next morning since he hasn't slept in days.

But he was woken up by some noise outside his courtyard. He walked out of his courtyard still sleepy and what he saw opened the door and looked outside, what he saw made him speechless.

There is a group of angry people standing in front of his courtyard. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He thought in dismay "Are you kidding me? Again? Whenever I go out of a place, there is a group ready to fight me outside. Is it going to be a regular occurrence?"

His cleared his thoughts and looked at the group. It was headed by a black robed person, another lackey of his second brother called Zhu Ting, and he is part of law enforcement hall.

Law enforcement hall is in charge of rules and regulations in the clan. However, most of the members are clan youngsters, and lead by three elders who makes final decision. He looked at Zhu Ting, walked out of his courtyard nonchalantly and asked "What are you guys shouting in front of my courtyard, disturbing my sleep?"

Zhu Ting also looked at Zhu Xuan in front of him with frosty eyes. He heard about how Zhu Xuan killed Zhu Kong in front of everyone yesterday and he wanted to go there and kill him on spot. But, Zhu Xuan left the clan and didn't return after late night. So, he came here as soon as they heard about him in the morning.

Zhu Ting spoke in a righteous tone "Zhu Xuan, you have killed a clan member in public yesterday and we are here to apprehend you for the crime. And don't think of making any move, in front of me there is nothing you can do."

Zhu Ting felt that Zhu Xuan is at most at the sixth level. He may be able to kill Zhu Kong, who was at fifth level easily, but against him who is at seventh level Zhu Xuan can't do anything.

Zhu Xuan looked at Zhu Ting and asked sarcastically "And who the hell are you?"

"How dare you" Zhu ting spoke coldly. He was one among four trusted subordinate of Second prince. There is no way Zhu Xuan didn't know him. His eyes became sharp, looking at Zhu Xuan and released a terrifying aura along with killing intent.

He wanted to suppress him and make him kneel in front of his subordinates to teach Zhu Xuan a lesson. But Zhu Xuan acted like he didn't feel anything at all. This aura and killing intent is nothing compared to what he experienced in Snowcape Demon Mountain. Moreover, Zhu Ting is one level lower than him, so there is no way it will affect Zhu Xuan.

Zhu Ting was surprised that Zhu Xuan showed no reaction to his aura. He wondered "Why didn't this Zhu Xuan not show any reaction? Is he stronger than me? But it's not possible. He was only entered second stage two months back." Zhu Ting convinced himself there must be some other reason.

A young man behind Zhu Ting quickly spoke to dissolve the awkward situation "This is Senior Zhu Ting, a team leader of Disciplinary committee of the law enforcement hall."

But Zhu Xuan's response made him spew blood in anger. Zhu Xuan spoke in a sarcastic tone "Oh right, its you. It's hard for me to remember all lapdogs of my second brother."

Zhu Ting boiled in anger and shouted "What did you say? Say that again and I will send you to your next life."

Zhu Xuan laughed out loud and coldly spoke "You don't qualify to even fight me. Ask my second brother to come personally if he really wants to go against me."

Zhu Ting snorted with anger and said "If Second prince was here, Do you think you will be still alive? Because he is busy with something important, you have earned yourself few more months to live."

Zhu Xuan was surprised to hear Zhu Lang wasn't in the clan. His one big worry was his second brother, Zhu Lang. He can fight against anyone among the younger generation, and even if he can't win against others, he can fight to draw and not suffer serious injuries. But when it comes to Zhu Lang, Zhu Xuan believed he should be at the peak of body purification stage, possibly even Qi Gathering stage. So Zhu Lang not being here is, giving Zhu Xuan time to get stronger.

Zhu Ting continued in a sarcastic tone "But to deal with a waste like you, I'm more than enough. So come with us silently. When I decide anyone as guilty and should be punished, there is no one who can go against my decision."

"Oh, is that so? Since when did you get to decide everyone's fate in the clan?" a nonchalant sweet voice came from Zhu Ting's behind. He turned around and scared to see Tenth princess, Zhu Meiying standing behind him.

Zhu Xuan remembered her well from his memories; Zhu Meiying is two years younger than him. Among all his siblings, she was the one who he had met a lot. But, as far as he knew, she didn't care much about him, not because she hated him, but because the previous Zhu Xuan was timid and hasn't activated his elemental roots. The only reason he met her so many times is because Zhu Meiying is training under their Aunt and he goes to meet her aunt a lot.

Zhu Meiying walked toward the law enforcement team. She is wearing an elegant peach robe with a childish face and a playful look on her eyes. She asked with an innocent tone "You can also decide my fate and punish me?"

Zhu Ting was so scared shitless. He knew how mischievous and scary tenth princess was, and whoever crossed her suffered greatly. He shook his head and urgently replied "I don't dare Tenth princess. I just misspoke, please forgive me."

She snorted and said in anger "Okay, you can get lost now. I have something to talk to my Eighth brother."

Zhu Ting said in an unsteady tone "But Tenth princess, he killed a clan member. We need to apprehend him and take him away for punishment."

Zhu Meiying sincerely said "Oh, is that so? Okay you take him away then."

Hearing this, Zhu Ting let out a deep breath and relaxed, but before he could even move or say anything, she cunningly laughed and continued "I also actually came to take him to meet Aunt Jia Li. I will just tell her that you took him away in front of me. She was looking forward to meet my Eighth brother. So don't blame me when you are buried in the ground alive."

Zhu Ting shivered and broke into a cold sweat when he heard it was Elder Jia Li who wanted to meet Zhu Xuan. Elder Jia Li has known for her fiery temper. Once a clan member, ruined her task accidentally and she almost buried him alive, if not for other elders stopping her at that time, that person would have died a miserable death.

He replied to her respectfully with fear evident in his eyes "Since Elder Jia Li, asked to meet him, we will leave. Sorry if we disturbed you Tenth princess."

Then he turned around to Zhu Xuan and said coldly "Count your lucky stars since Elder Jia Li is looking for you. Otherwise you would have had a miserable end today."

Zhu Xuan who has been enjoying the show between his Tenth sister and Zhu Ting, looked at Zhu Ting and said in a sarcastic tone "That's my line you lapdog. Off you go" While he said that, he waved his hand like shooing away a dog.

Zhu Ting wanted to burn him alive in anger, but since Tenth princess is here, he controlled himself and walked away with his team.

Zhu Meiying giggled and walked up to Zhu Xuan and looked at him like a curious cat. She only remembered him as a timid person. But since he came back from the Mountain, he has been acting different from his usual self. She heard about what he did yesterday and she just saw how he acted again Zhu Ting without any fear. She asked curiously "Eighth brother, you used to be a timid person, how did you became brave suddenly?"

"What a terrible thing to say to your brother, Tenth sister. I have always been a brave person, I'm not afraid of anyone you know." Zhu Xuan boasted shamelessly.

Zhu Meiying giggled and smiled mischievously "Oh then you can take care of yourselves in front of Aunt. She is terribly angry with you and asked me to drag you there when I found you." She felt this change of her Eighth brother interesting and easy to get along with him.

Zhu Xuan was shocked "Eh? Why is Aunt angry with me? I didn't do anything. Why is she angry with me Tenth sister?"

But Zhu Meiying smiled wickedly and said "You will know when you meet Aunt." She said that and walked away. Zhu Xuan laughed it off and followed her to meet his aunt.

While following, he recollected his memories of his Aunt Jia Li. She is the younger sister of clan leader, his father Zhu Donglai. She is the only one in the whole clan who always cared about him and helped him in many occasions. She even tried to help him lots of times in cultivation and various other things but since his elemental roots was locked at that time, it didn't do much help to him.

After going through the memory, Zhu Xuan realised she genuinely care about him and felt a warmth in his heart.

As he was thinking, they reached the Alchemy pavilion. And Zhu Xuan reminded himself "Oh right, she is also the head of the Alchemy pavilion."
