4 Chapter 4 – The Origin System
Zhu Xuan suddenly found himself completely surrounded by darkness.
"Where am I? How did I get here?"He was not sure where he is and whether he should move since he couldn't see anything. He wondered if he became blind and started panicking a bit. At that moment, he suddenly sensed something and turned to see a light in the distance slowly moving towards him. He tried to move towards the light but he found himself unable to move, like he is imprisoned by an almighty force. Slowly, the light neared him from distance. He realised it is a light blue coloured will-o-wisp.
It came in front of him and said plainly, "Congratulations on activating the Origin system"
Zhu Xuan realised that this was the voice he heard earlier from the dragon shaped pendant. He wondered if this is the dimension inside the pendant.
It seemed like the will-o-wisp knew what he was thinking about; it spoke "You are inside the dimension of Origin system."
"May I ask who you are senior?" Zhu Xuan asked respectfully.
"I'm the spirit of the Origin system, and this is the dimension of Origin system. I control everything here" it replied plainly.
"What a lousy place. It is dark and there is nothing in here. Isn't it supposed to be filled with cultivation books, weapons, armours, techniques, and treasures? What's with this dark place? It looks horrible for spirit system" Zhu Xuan thought with disappointment.
"I told you I control everything and so you should know that I can hear your thoughts when you are in this dimension" replied will-o-wisp plainly as before. There was no emotion in its voice.
Zhu Xuan was terrified for a moment when he realised his thought had been seen through. He touched his nose, embarrassed and said with a silly smile "Hahaha senior, I was just thinking randomly. Don't need to mind it Hahaha."
"Junior Zhu Xuan greets Senior" He bowed and said respectfully.
"Hmmm. You might have already guessed about what the Origin system is, it is the dragon pendant you are wearing. The Origin system was created by my master, to select his successors. It works under certain rules and regulations, so you won't be able to see anything that belongs in the system unless certain conditions are met. You have to follow the rules and complete the missions assigned to you to get your rewards and the cultivation environments provided by the system" explained will-o-wisp.
Even though Zhu Xuan was eager to know more, he couldn't ask because of embarrassment due to his earlier bad remarks about the system. Instead he asked, "Senior, earlier you said Welcome to the minor world of Lightning Lake. Is this world I transmigrated to called Lightning Lake?"
It didn't mind his sudden question about the world and explained "Yes, Lightning Lake is one among the 3000 minor worlds that exists. Collectively, these 3000 worlds are called Minor realm"
"Is Earth one of the minor realms?" Zhu Xuan couldn't help but ask.
"No, it is one of the lower realm under Lightning Lake minor realm. The reason you transmigrated in here is because Lightning Lake is the minor realm that is in control region of Earth" explained will-o-wisp, clearing his doubts.
"That means there are also higher realms?" asked Zhu Xuan.
"Smart. Yes, you are right. There are many higher realms, but you don't need to know about it with your current cultivation level. you will know when the time is right."
"Getting back to the main topic, there is a main mission that you need to complete, the sooner you finish, the better rewards you will receive from the system. And, you will also receive various sub missions from time to time, based on the circumstances detected around the worlds. If you succeed in the mission, you will receive rewards, if you fail you will receive penalty and you will suffer the consequences. Though, you don't have to worry about the sub missions right now. It will take a while for the system to analyse the world and give you a mission. I will inform you when the time comes." it explained everything he needs to know about the mission.
Zhu Xuan started thinking. This is what he needed exactly. He has no hope of receiving any cultivation techniques or resources from his clan. Even if he did, it will only be a minuscule amount considering the past experiences.
And he is pretty confident, the reward he receives will be extraordinary considering the fact Origin system transmigrated him all the way here from Earth.
He also know when he goes back to the clan, his second brother is going to do everything in his power to make his life hell. He planned to kill Zhu Xuan to show his other siblings his dominance. Now that he will be going back there alive, Zhu Lang will know his plan failed and he believe he lost his face and will turn his anger on me.
His gaze suddenly turned sharp with determination. The humiliation the owner of this body suffered was all because of himself. With no resistance, he had no control of his own destiny. He remembered the memory of how previous Zhu Xuan felt, how he was ostracised, ignored and how he felt angry and helpless. All of this built motivation for Zhu Xuan to become a capable person from the person he was before, to protect himself and take control of his fate.
He knew that if he wanted people to respect him and find a place for him in this world, he needed to get stronger, and prove to everyone through his strength that he was not the weak person he was in the past.
He cleared his thoughts of all these problems and asked "What is this main mission Senior?"
"The final task of main mission will be revealed when you progressed enough to handle it. For now, the main mission is to improve your cultivation. But, you don't need to know which level you need to finally reach, that is too far for you now. For now, you need to concentrate on reaching the Qi gathering stage from Body purification stage. Each stage you succeed, you will receive a reward. And sooner you reach it, the better rewards will be. so you better give your all when cultivating." explained will-o-wisp patiently.
"This feels like the MMORPG gaming system in Earth. Main mission with various stages and sub missions as you move in the game" exclaimed Zhu Xuan with interest.
"You are right, Origin system adapts based on the world of the person who is accepted by the system." It said conforming to his thoughts.
Zhu Xuan thought, that means he is not the first person to be accepted by the Origin system and he is not going to be the last person. How did it end up in the Earth then? Was the last person accepted by the system also from Earth or did the person died in Earth?
He looked at the will-o-wisp expecting an answer. But it maintained its silence. He knew it wouldn't answer his doubts and it was not the right time to ask for the answer.
Will-o-wisp started talking again "Since we already spoken enough of the missions, now lets get to the rewards part. First, let me give you the three rewards to you for the acceptance by Origin system"
Zhu Xuan couldn't hide his excitement; he has been waiting for this since he found out about the system. Acting like a kid, he asked with enthusiasm "Senior what is the reward?"
Will-o-wisp looked at him calmly and answered, "I can see that you haven't yet activated your Elemental roots yet. Your first reward is activating your Roots"
