31 Roads of Feces in Coral City

Melisa and Mrs. Penelope's past was already history.

Mrs. Penelope criticized Melisa, believing that Melisa forced her to move out of Tulip Castle.

Liszt, however, felt that it was because Mrs. Penelope was too mean, as indicated by her incessant complaints even after ten years had passed.

Besides, after Melisa died, Mrs. Penelope was unable to move back in, because the earl's new wife and her ended up on bad terms again.

"It's fortunate that you returned the day the baron's daughter is not in the castle. That woman has an unpleasant air that only your father can tolerate. The whole castle reeks of her. I feel uncomfortable staying here."

Lvera, sitting next to Mrs. Penelope, clutched her arm and played cute. "Grandmother, if you don't like Tulip Castle, you can come to my Falcon Town. I have a beautiful manor and a spring that you're going to love."

"My little girl, as a lady, you have to sit appropriately. You're already 19 and you still haven't found your match. That's because you're not ladylike enough."

"Grandmother is right. Lvera, you should learn to be a lady, not to fight like us," Levis joked and said to Mrs. Penelope, "Grandmother, if you find the air unpleasant, I can put in more air fresheners."

"No air fresheners can dissolve it. I'm already exhausted by the two women in the house. I wouldn't come to the castle at all if it wasn't necessary." Penelope then turned to Luis. "Luis, you will forward what I said to the baron's daughter, won't you?"

She sounded provocative.

Luis smiled gently. "My lady, you know that I prefer to keep my mouth shut."

"Luis, you are as boring as ever."

Since Mrs. Penelope enter the castle, she had been the center of the conversation. Of course, she was also eighty percent of the conversation.

Liszt had been smiling politely and awkwardly the whole time.

It was not until the earl returned and announced the start of dinner that Liszt was finally freed from the uncomfortable atmosphere.

The dinner at Tulip Castle was certainly incomparable to the dinner in the small castle in Flower Town.

The number of attendants alone was shocking enough.

Most of the nobles in the castle were seated, including the earl's family, the family tutor, the captain of knights, and a few of the earl's followers. There were sixteen nobles in total.

There certainly wouldn't be awkward silence at the dinner with Mrs. Penelope here, who talked all the time.

Liszt focused on the food. Although he had never been used to Western food, the cuisines could almost be called delicious compared to the rough food in Flower Town. He was barely involved in any conversation and became as transparent as before.

Before, he wanted to join the conversations, but always failed.

Now, he did not want to join at all. As a reborn transmigrater, he found it impossible to melt into the Tulip family, and he could only observe everything calmly like a bystander. He needed to keep a low profile until it was unnecessary for him to do otherwise.

The next day after the dinner, Liszt got up early, because the siblings needed to visit Marquis Merlin Taro, their ill grandfather, on a boat.

"Send my sincerest regards." The earl also got up early and enjoyed breakfast with his children.

As the son-in-law, he should've visited in person, but after his new marriage, he had drifted apart from the Taros. It was inappropriate for him to visit again.

Mrs. Penelope had returned from her walk. She said gloomily, "Levis, Lvera and Liszt, send my best wishes to Marquis Merlin. He was a handsome and graceful noble in my memories. I didn't expect him to be too sick to work after only a few years."

"It's the law of nature to age and die. Please keep an open mind, Mother."

"Are you suggesting that I'm old and should die?"

"Why do you think that? I'm hoping that you can live past a hundred."

"I can tell that you want me to die early from the women you married, so that nobody will disturb you on Coral Island."

The earl could only respond with a polite yet awkward smile.

Liszt came out with Marcus and a footman of the castle, who carried his luggage for him. After bidding farewell, the siblings strode to the ports which were part of the city. Liszt preferred to call the city a large toilet, because all the streets had the stink of fermenting feces.

For that reason, a tulip with an intense fragrance produced by the Tulip family was popular among the citizens.

They would attach a tulip to their chest when they were out to get rid of the disgusting smell.

Leaving the smell aside, Coral City was not even as splendid as a minor city in Liszt's home world.

There were no tall buildings or manors, but houses made of wood and stone stretching out along the uneven alleys. The passersby would inevitably step on feces, because the citizens liked to pour them on the street.

If there was only a pile of feces, one could avoid it.

But if a whole street was made of feces, the only way to pass it was to step on the feces while frowning.

As a result, the feces had been mixed with the road into the unique "sh*tty paths" of the city.

Why was the sanitation so poor?

Because civilians were too busy making a living to care about hygiene, and nobles lived in castles that were far away from the filth.

Luckily, Coral City was a city on an island with a limited population, so the scale of the excrement was still tolerable.

In a larger city, the urine and the solid waste could've probably submerged it.

Are their horizons limited by the sprites' abilities, and it never occurred to them that feces can be used for fertilization? Liszt had an idea as he looked at Coral City. Maybe I can collect the feces all over the island and build a few methane tanks around Flower Town.

He understood the mechanism of the methane tank, but it was difficult to make use of methane in lighting and cooking.

The most convenient way to apply the feces was fertilization after brief fermentation. Flower Town was in dire need of fertilizers, too.

However, the transportation is too bad. The cost to gather the feces is higher than the value of the feces… Fine, I'd better stick to the feces of my own town.
