32 Theory of the Soul

In the library that looked like a medieval church were towers of shelves. On each of the shelves were a bunch of books that were messily placed causing a sense of disunity. It would honestly cause people to pale in horror when faced with the thought of finding a book.

The shelves were placed in a layered square dashing with four spaces between the shelves placed at north, south, east, and west. As one went up to higher levels, the less books there were, the more valuable the content was. Each level had requirements on strength and authority.

In the center of the squares were computers waiting to be used.

Currently at the entrance to the library was a girl with snow colored hair that went to her shoulders. She was wearing the standard uniform of the AEA which made it obvious that she was a part timer. She sat at the reception desk with a calm smile while reading a book.

Suddenly the door to the library opened and a black haired boy entered.

"Haaa~ the library always seems to amaze me no matter how many times I come."

Hearing this familiar voice, the snow haired girl looked up and her smile widened.

"Hello Ark."

"Hello noona, is it your shift right now?"

"Sadly, it is. Would you like to take over for me?"

"Hahaha, I will have to decline, I'm here to read not work."

"Tch, you'll never get a girlfriend if you keep on acting like that?"

"Are you saying that you'll be my girlfriend if I take over?"

"Nice try but I have an overprotective brother. You can date me if you want to die."

"Seems that I'm going to be alone for a long time."

"I'm not the only girl you know?"

"What if I only want you?"

The girl blushed.

"W-wha-"

"Just kidding, have fun noona."

"YOU LITTLE-"

"This is a library. Be quiet."

The girl immediately stopped screaming and let out a face that looked like she was choking on her own spit.

The boy quickly left before the white hair girl could attempt murder.

"T-this boy, geez."

How could he say such embarrassing things like that with a straight face? What an actor.

—————————————————————

Ark went to the center of the library and logged into a computer.

"Lets see, Theory of Different Types of Mana was at shelf 57 at floor two. Can you get that for me?"

A book flew out of the second floor and landed in front of Ark.

The benefits of magic.

Ark flipped through the book.

"Poison mana? How is that even possible, next. Ice is its own element? Nope, it is a branch of the water element. Steel is different from earth mana. What is this bullshit?"

Ark furiously turned the pages while his eyes were moving all over the page at a lightning speed when he suddenly paused.

"Idea of the soul having its own mana type. Jackpot."

Ark the proceeded to read the page carefully so he would not miss a single piece of info.

In this world of magic, there are elements. All magic is master off of elements. However, there are some types of magic that are not explained by the seven elements. Such as illusion magic.

What element does illusion magic use? All? Or does it have its own element? The theory of seven elements have been wrong before in the other elements of life, death, demonic, and time. So why not once more? In the element of souls? There is no real proof the element soul exists however we still believe in its possibility.

The basics of illusion magic, think of a strong image you wish to convey or a feeling you wish to evoke.

Ark sighed.

"Not that much info about it, only stating the possibility of its existence."

"About what?"

Ark jumped out of his seat in surprise and turned to face the cause.

After seeing the person who had spoken, Ark calmed down.

"Noona, stop sneaking up on people like that. That's bad manners."

"I didn't sneak up on you, you just didn't notice me."

"Don't you have to work right now Carona noona?"

"I'm taking an itsy bitsy break got a problem."

"Of course not."

"Really? Why do you have that face of annoyance on then?"

"What face of annoyance?"

Ark changed his face into one that resembled a humbled knight. At least the aura he gave off did.

"I am blessed to be in your presence milady."

"Whatever you thousand faced brat."

"I would like to mention that the lady herself is barely older than me."

Seeing the glare that Carona sent Ark, he decided it was time to stop.

"So what are you reading?"

Ark glanced back down at the book in his hand with a wry smile.

"I'm looking at theories of elements other than the basic 7. The element of the soul I'm particular."

Not noticing Carina's weird gaze, Ark continued the explain.

"Although the book provides a decent argument on the possible existence of the soul element, however no evidence. This causes most people to overlook the possibility and write it as impossible."

"Do you think it's possible?"

Ark glanced at Carona finally realizing that something was wrong with her.

"I know it's possible. If we look at all the other elements discovered after the discovery of the seven, we can conclude that there may be more elements than we have previously thought. Illusion magic is a magic that influences the soul so it could be feasible that there is an element for souls. Then there is beast taming, although people say it's based on luck, the soul could play a part in it. The higher affinity to the soul could mean a higher chance to tame beasts. There are also many kingdoms that believe in a different magic system than the seven elements. The Edean theory of five base elements and seven ethereal elements."

Ark continued to gaze into Carona's eyes.

"Why do you seem so focused on this topic? Is something bothering you noona?"

"Well you see... never mind, it's nothing."

"Ok."

"..."

Carona got up before turning around and heading back to her desk.

"Well have a good time."

"Ok?"

Ark watched Carona leave with a complicated look before going back to reading.

It's not my business so who cares.

(Dawn) I agree sir, all of these immature teens should stay away from you.

Ummm ok.

Ark finished the rest of the book and recorded all of the useful information in his brain. He was about to get up and go when an old book caught his eye.

Special Clans and their abilities.

"That's weird. I don't recall seeing that book."

Having his curiosity tickled, Ark got up from the desk and plucked the book off its shelf. Right when he was about to start reading, he froze at the name of the author.

Drake Krusader.
