17 A talented bud

I stood still trying to blend into a shadow of a tree. I mumbled internally.

Why the fuck did I have to have an affinity to the shadow element. If I didn't have this element I would've been able to escape from this sadistic old man.

(EA) Stop making excuses.

Dawn, isolate anomaly. Anomaly is currently distracting host and is thus a threat to host's survival .

(Dawn) Report is verifying... Verification complete. Isolating anomaly.

(EA) NOOOO-

(Dawn) Anomaly isolated.

Now that the distraction was gone I focused on the environment around me. This fucking old man was legit a super badass assassin. And trust me, I did a fucking report on him and wrote a thirteen page long essay on him because HE FORCED ME TOO.

So now I know he is a god assassin and HE tells ME to hide from him and survive. Actually he told me to kill him but HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO KILL A FUCKING EXPERT ASSASSIN IN A FOREST COVERED IN PLACES TO HIDE. THATS LIKE TRYING TO CATCH A SAHRK IN AN OCEAN WITH YOUR BARE HANDS.

A twig snapped somewhere but I ignored it because an expert assassin wouldn't make a mistake like that. I focused into the depths of the jungle. Suddenly my eye twitched and I subconsciously ducked my head.

Three soft thunks sounded above my head and I started to sweat.

He already found me! It hasn't even been 3 minutes.

I reached for the daggers in my pocket and threw one in the direction the daggers came from and another three at three areas where the old man could've escaped to. Sadly they all missed.

I reached into a different pocket and threw a homemade smoke bomb.

Instantly a thick fog covered the area and I disappeared into the smoke.

The man inwardly chuckled.

Oh how he loved to play around with younglings.

However his newest student was far the best. The man thought of his newest student.

His newest student Ark was a black haired boy with skin so white it would make his wife pout with jealousy. His hair covered a majority of his face and he wore a bandana on his left eye.

However, the most interesting point about him was his temperament. Or his shifting temperament. Ark had a bright and funny temperament that would have people reeling over with laughter, however he could also shift to a temperament that was dark and moody. Ark was one of the most conspicuous people he had ever seen yet Ark couldn't be seen unless he outwardly projected his presence.

He was a born assassin.

Carelessly thinking about the boy while searching for the boy, the man accidentally stepped on a twig.

The man glanced at the Ark and saw that although the boy tensed, he did not get distracted easily like most amateurs and stayed focused on his objective. To kill him.

The man snorted.

More like survive and hide.

The man knew it was unfair for the boy, but he didn't care. A teacher had to have some fun too.

Chuckling again, the man drew three daggers out of thin air and threw them at the boy.

That's another win.

The old man thought but to his surprise, the boy dodged by a hair and effortlessly countered and then threw a smoke bomb and effectively disappeared once more.

The man causally dodged the dagger in excitement.

This new student was one of the best talents he had seen. He had a naturally hidden presence, insane instincts and reflexes. Perfect in every way except in strength, speed, and stamina. And he was lacking a bit in his dagger throwing skills. They were accurate but lacked substance.

We can fix that problem later. I can send him to a strength build course.

Now to find this little ninja.

The man proceeded to leave the arena in search of the boy when something barely caught his eye on the edge of his vision.

Bingo.

He surely won't find me here right?

I said while hiding inside a hollow tree stump that had a cube with 3 foot sides.

If he finds me I will actually run away from this school.

I heard footsteps and immediately held my breath.

I am one with the tree, the tree is me.

I held my breath until the footsteps disappeared and the let out a sigh. I love my shadow element. Due to the shadow element's teleportation functions I could disappear into a shadow to appear somewhere else.

So let me make this clear. Zilon is a horrible explainer. He made it sound like people could only get stronger after they awaken. But this wasn't the case. Apparently everyone can grow stronger physically and stand up against magic such as Heracles. And some people are born with the intellectual ability allowing them to study and learn magic.

I was one of them.

So even though I didn't awaken yet, I could still use magic. Thus I could teleport through shadows.

I frowned feeling drowsiness tempting me to sleep.

Teleportation was still costly for my mana pool. Just using it once exhausted 80% of my total mana.

But at least I'm safe.

However to my horror, I felt my left eye twitch again. Panicking I broke the thin walls of the tree. And in front of me was an explosion.

I only had four words.

"YOU FUCKING OLD-"

Sadly I couldn't say the fourth due to the explosion devouring the world around me with a brilliant orange.

I then blacked out.
