11 Make the Night Las

Far gone from fate, all you heard would be the sound of the thrusters humming. Down below the chasm, you would find the deepest sufferings there is. The Captain was my beckon of light, but the recent events made me troubled. She explained herself but I was a stubborn man who sometimes doesn't listen.

The red boulevard is where men and women come to drink their worries away. Accompanied by a bottle of alcohol and cigarette, humanity's best friend since ancients, men and women have reached the stars yet the two would forever remain a companion for sorrowful men and women.

A guilty heart is heavy. The death of innocents ravages the minds. Fellow comrades sat crying silently while the dim light covers their sorrow. The captain should be somewhere or stuck in her VR world. The Tobacco smells yet calms me. Perfume stunk like an animated being that forcefully invades the nostril. Turned to look where the perfume was and saw a red dressed woman with jet-black hair, quite curvy, nice waist, breast lovely, plump bottom, rather tempting. She sat near me, her red lipstick marking the glass, fiery lips, and beautiful eyes to behold.

Gestured with her right hand, I nodded simply, glancing at her secretly. She found my stare, smiled, sat closer while keeping her red nails stuck near my shoulder. Intoxicated, could barely think but know that she won't stick this close if it weren't for one thing. Quite Cynical of me to think that, but nothing in this life so easy to get, I won't even be here if it wasn't for the Captain.

"What do you want?" had to ask her.

"Just want to drink with someone, lonely night, too many news about worlds we are supposed to worry about."

Couldn't sneer in front of a lady, I just turned to the bartender and ordered a bottle of whiskey. Her finger was still stuck on me, quite slippery, like a snake, she seems like a snake as well. Got to be careful to her, could tell how she has this sneaky aura around her. Femme Fatale possibly adjusted personally and lean while taking my bottle of whiskey.

"Want to share some?"

"You'll pay for whiskey?"

"Quite cocky aren't you?"

"Hey, I am not the one trying to steal someone's whiskey. Men and women here are swooning over you yet you came to speak to someone like me."

"What a low self-esteem."

"No, I really want to be alone."

The bartender shook the bottle while looking at me. I mean I wasn't really interested in talking. Only came to the bar to drink yet this person tries to scam me of something.

"What do you want from me?"

She looked at me dully. Her eyes were moving seductively as if she would eat me. I could not understand why someone like her was talking to me. Seriously, I could see that the bald fuck in the corner wants to pound this lady's ass until his dick dries yet he looks at me with envy.

"Just a drink, I just want to share a drink. It is lonely, yes?"

"Sure, no drugs or tricks, no making me sign a contract?"

"You are a wary person, I like that."

"Thank you, I won't still drink with you. I rather save some credits for new equipment."

"Oh, my, men these days are technology maniacs."

"Aliens that look like spiders, oblong-head humanoids that could turn armies into stone, and you are asking me not to be a maniac about technology that might save my life."

She sighed heavily and held her forehead, "You are a troublesome man, and you whine too much and too wary despite this lady offering her company for tonight. Quite boring, may I add."

"Wow, thank you for telling me that I am a boring person. See that bald fuck in the corner?" I pointed at the man in the corner. "He'll be glad to accompany you for the night, and hump you all night. He'd enjoy it."

"You are a rude person!"

"Oh smite me. I am trying to drink but you are bothering me. I mean at least hide your intentions clearly. I could smell the drugs on your dress and look, your gestures smell of Femme Fatale. Drunk idiots here wouldn't notice and you probably noticed how barely drunk I am despite ordering bottles of whiskey. Your eyes told me 'oh look someone useful' and I might be a freelancer but I still need some time alone."

One perk of being a soldier for humanity is the free injections that allow us to filter harmful toxins including alcohol. The arachnid type aliens spit toxins and the injections I receive allows us to survive the poison. I am not completely immune but it helps.

"You wrong me. I merely wish to drink with you. I do not dare to trick people at this moment."

"Whatever you say, ma'am, if you really want to then go ahead. I'll drink my own bottle while you drink yours."

"Fine," she looked like she gave up. The bartender handed her drink. She stayed near me while mixing her drink, looking at her own reflection like some narcissist.

"You're one of the men who told me such things," she said. "Usually they would swoon over me and try to bed me. But you...are odd."

"Probably because I am drunk and that maybe I am too guilt-ridden to try and get my dick wet."

"Is that so?" she giggled. "Maybe you'll fall for me when you are sober. I haven't been rejected for a while that I'll be willing to abandon my goal to get into a relationship with you."

"That seems abrupt. Just because I don't want to talk you are willing to get into a relationship with me? What a stupid thing to do."

She smiled, "It is, but want to try?"

...

Somehow I started drinking with her. Faye Kyra was her name and she was rather free-spirited that I almost forget her intentions. I keep my guard up but when she dragged me into the dance floor while dancing over some petty jazz made almost fell in love with her eyes.

She dances well. The dance floor was populated with couples who were intoxicated with alcohol. We blended in nicely and despite my misgivings about Faye, she was a good companion that somehow she keeps referring to me as hers. I don't understand that.

"Isn't it nice my love?"

"It is, Oddity."

"Already have a nickname for me?"

"Yes. You are a strange woman."

She swayed her hips and embraced me. Her feminine scent was drowning me that I couldn't help but feel intoxicated. She was beautiful and any men or even women here would dare to covet her. Maybe this is my lucky day but knowing how unfortunate I am lately, I am all hesitant to admit it.

"Strange is overrated, Oddity. It is called being drunk."

"Or maybe you are pretending as one and you caught me on your web?"

"Spiders, I hate them, especially when they shoot toxins from their bio-cannons."

"You've fought wars; of course you'd be here."

"Save Begin-1 with Captain Regina, I don't think it matters much."

"Wait, Begin-1? The Planet where hope seems lost...oh please tells me you are Nix Villa?"

I showed her my data link, "I am indeed that person. But I didn't do much. I only ran through corridors and survive the blast of the facility and I am now in partnership with Captain Regina Doll."

"Oh my," she smiled slyly. "To think that you'd be two-timing with me...aren't you brazen?"

"I live with the Captain but we're not in a relationship. It is platonic and besides, I don't remember agreeing to become your man."

"I take my relationships seriously."

"Oh please, Oddity. You only want me to work on something for you for free. I may have been a soldier but I once worked with people who are as sneaky as you."

"I was planning too but you were depressed and here I am dancing with you. Hmm, I guess hard to get men with a bit of cockiness in them are my kind of men. I like women too, but hell, let me say that this is love at first sight."

I smiled. I twirled her as the music roll. I stared into her eyes and danced while not moving my eyes away from her. She keeps dancing while keeping that seductive smile with the colorful lights as backdrops. I was playing her game and she was playing mine.

"Love at first sight, such an old concept that this liberated humanity would think of it as garbage. You could have fooled me, Oddity."

"Maybe I am telling the truth. Maybe I am not?"

She dipped her head on my neck. Her hot breathe whispering sweet nothings. I lightly smiled and caught her back. I danced while my fingers are interlocked with her. She kept up while keeping a vague smile.

"Lies and sweet nothings, if I wasn't drunk maybe I'd fall for you."

"Admit it!" she said. "You've fallen for me already and acting hard to get. Don't you want to drag me somewhere private and embrace me?"

"Oh please," I said with a smirk. "I would have been your puppet. Wait and ask me when I am sober. Maybe, just maybe I would agree with you!"

My emotions were certainly riled up. The bottles of whiskey have finally taken me into this odd trance. I would have fallen for her sweet nothings but the guild clawing my heart plagues me with a cynicism that refuses to accept anything as luck. I spit on anyone that would call this lovable scene as a good time. I am playing on her strides while acting like a fool. I will have my fun with her but she'll never get what she wants.

"I am ashamed. To think that I would fail in fooling you into taking me to my mission, oh my, you might have great luck with women, to make this lady's heartbeat with such joy. You should praise yourself!"

I pirouetted and bowed with my right hand on my chest. She placed her hands on her hips, raised her right brow and dance with a sway toward me. I embraced her and her warmth covers me. The jazz accompanying our charade, I feel happy yet there was this cynical thought that indeed this was a play.

I held her waist gently and I positioned my head to meet her eyes. I could see melancholy as my face reflects on her eyes. I looked sad. There was a trace of sadness that bothered me. She looked at me with the same melancholy as I do.

"Home's far isn't it?"

"It is."

"Sad?"

"I am. Dancing with you has been fun. I will not fall for your sweet nothings. I will not allow myself to be tricked. But may I ask to dance with you? Let make this night last and let us part us, friends?"

She smiled sadly, "Friends?' she then smiled. "You misunderstand...You are my man now. You may not like it but you might as well give up. I hate being in love. It makes me obsess enough and rarely does I get to fulfill that love. They all die and leave me behind, like dust in the wind, they would vanish as if they don't exist and I would miss them. Ah, it has been long that I felt this way. To think that this night would turn out like this, it is indeed odd and stupid. I like it. Anything goes in this cosmic dare, so try not to cheat on me too much okay?"

"Whatever, Oddity, just don't involve me in your cosmic troubles and next time leave me alone to drink."

"You are such a mean person. I like it."

And so we dance throughout the night. Although I could tell she wanted to disappear first. When I twirled her around I let her hand go and vanished into the crowd. I could see her looking from left to right but I doubt she could follow me.
