5 Facade

Ever since I have left earth because of a whim I have grown up. I like to think that I am a mature person now because I joined the army for reasons. All I had was my title and the PDA that I brought with me. I didn't expect that I'd be involved in many accidents.

I was actually gunning for an officer but my stiffness made me say yes to the person who was in charge of the recruitment.

"Will you join the army?"

"Yes," I said with a stiffened face.

The officer probably thought I was aloof but inside I was shivering! Who would want to be on the battlefield? I thought that I was doom but somehow it was even worse than I thought. The ship that I was boarding got boarded by aliens and somehow I saved the ship by being in the right place at the right time. I pushed some lever which I thought would be a pod but was actually the emergency shields that ripped through the tubes connecting the alien's ship. They said,-

"Wonderful! I thought that you were trying to look a pod but we misjudged you! To think that you would go to such length just to save this ship! We are grateful!"

Grateful my foot! I didn't want to save them I was so scared that I almost wet my pants! Of course, I couldn't just curse at that man so I replied with a calm one, "There's no need to thank me. I was in the right place and was at the right time to do it."

I wish I could have retracted that statement. That statement sent me to some planet where things were bad. I just ran with my aloof face and push the trigger of my laser rifle. There were many corpses around and it was the first time that I have seen so many dead. The people around me were tough but they were crying about the situation. I thought to toughen up and put a brave front but who would have thought that they would take me for their leader? I have no idea how I manage to get through that situation but at least I got know that there was a chance that I would be free from this constant of war. Along the way, I got involved in many conflicts that I was surprised to actually reach this planet named Begin-01. I was air dropped and even though I got lucky about it. I still didn't know how long I would stay lucky. Lady Fortune cannot favor me forever so I knew that I had to somehow win the situation by taking the facility.

Begin-01's situation was far worse than I expected. I thought that I would be one of the dead in the fields but somehow I got lucky for a time being. I thought the Captain who was leading us would do something but he got popped in the head. I lead the way and there I met him, a rather charming guy with a gloomy look on his face. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and was quite the charmer with his well-defined facial features. He looked like a hunk too and the way he cooly stares at me makes me squeal inside.

I asked him to become an aide. I thought he would find it weird but to think he would follow me! I wanted to impress him so I bravely went forth and dealt with things. I got in danger and there was a time I thought I'd be done for but I accidentally saved him instead. I didn't know his name but the way he fought with me was quite something. He was a great marksman and even though I was dying from fear I trek on since I couldn't stop anymore.

The facility we raided was filled with aliens. There was no other way to destroy the facility other than using the console. He didn't know anything about destroying occupied facility but I got training accidentally. I somehow manage to blow training facility while I was being sent around everywhere.

Of course, it was different and we had to run through corridors and jump out of the windows to somehow survive the blast. My leg was busted and his leg was busted too, but he was a gentleman about it and he let me lean on him while we carry ourselves to a place where we can get help.

Although my leg was hurting I took the chance to feel up his body. His body was so toned that I didn't want to let go of him. Sadly, a trooper found us and we have to be separated. I didn't want to reveal my true nature so I kept aloof until we are exchanged names. I even made a joke but he just looked at me sadly. I tried but I failed.

But it was lucky for me that I got him as an aide. It only means that this hunk will be following me. Not to mention he looked like he's a gentleman that would do me no harm. He was quite aloof and he always gives this gloomy look on his face that makes him so brooding and cool. I don't think he realizes how charming he looks. Not to mention that the way he looks after me with those well-shaped eyes of his is quite something to look at. But I think it is more of a respect than being charmed.

Not counting how he always act but I think he's a good guy. He looks after me and he really does act like an aide of mine. I have servants back in earth but ever since my family fell apart I had to work hard for myself. It was neat that he cared for me and was always courteous.

I was glad that he's the guy that I choose as an aide of mine.

Along the way, I've grown to learn more about him. His usually aloof behavior became worse because of the conditions of the starship that we were boarding. I understand his plight but I really wondered why he wasn't putting condiments on his MRE-paste food.

He wasn't too pleased but I can't do anything about it. It was kinda hard to talk to him when he's such in a bad mood that I logged in to my virtual world where I was able to see my virtual characters. Although most of them would use these kinds of environments as some sort of pleasure world. I don't. They do not understand that they can recreate wonderful setups and romances in this world. I have two leading ladies and two beautiful men. But I don't make use of them and just let them interact with each other. I just wanted their company while I read on my PDA but who would have thought he would be bugged inside my VR world?

The face he made as he looked at me almost made me want to cry! I wasn't using them for lewd I swear to God I was not using them as a harem! He looked odd out and didn't say anything! I had to scream aloud as embarrassed as I was! That day I went out of my VR world and pinched his nose!

Later on, I learned that he didn't know that there were condiments in the dining hall of the starship. He was rather eager when we dined together and I dined with my usual food. I don't think he likes wasabi but I loved it to death ever since I was young! I used to dine in Old Tokyo back in the earth along with my father and he usually dips my food into wasabi as a prank. My father probably didn't expect that I'd be loving spicy things because of it.

Still, it was a wonderful dinner and I have a bit of fun watching him eat his burgers and fried. I thought of it as a quite lovely dinner of two partners eating in a restaurant located inside an outpost of a space station built on top of a floating mountain of ice near a cold star.

After dining in that space station we boarded the starship again and wait for the journey until we were able to reach the solar system. I was quite emotional seeing my home system and seeing his grim look change made me feel sentimental too. I'll be getting that spaceship and go back to earth, I thought to myself.

The space station was quite packed when we arrived. I had to shamelessly drag him, and by God, he actually intertwined his fingers around mine so tightly and lovingly. I was embarrassed but I kept my façade since I bet it would ruin the image that he knows of me. I didn't want that to happen so I kept my mask.

When we stepped into the firm grounds of Ganymede. He started to act emotionally. I thought he would be thanking me endlessly but for him to actually state that he would follow me into hell. I was quite charmed by what he said that I could not help but blush slightly.

I don't know what he really thinks of me. I don't know if I can continue this façade of mine. I have started this façade out of fear. I know that there will be times that I would have to show my emotions to him. Show him the true me but how could I?

To hurt myself less I had to put this façade on. I had this façade since my family fell apart and it only got stronger to the point that I do not know how to remove the mask that I placed upon my face. But yet the way he said those words to me was quite something really. We only knew each other for only a bit of time yet I think that I can work with him as a partner in crime. I thought that he was just a hunk but looking at the sincere eyes he gave me made me understand that he was a person that I could really befriend. I thought that things wouldn't be too bad with him along the ride.

So I decided that to not let him down. I promised him that we will have a ship I would have to work hard in obtaining one. The army would fund us but I know that it won't be enough to maintain a ship. I have to earn money so I had to pick a job. Luckily, there was a job that was free. I was able to sign up for the job. It was a simple job of delivering cargo and acting as mercenaries for the company. The reward was enough to buy us a space pod that we could use to travel around the solar system and take jobs. It would be great if we have a ship but if we take this job we would have a pod that we can use. So I took the job and notified him about it. He accepted the job and like me thought that it would be a simple job of guarding something.

Of course, how could I ever know that the job that we were given would lead us to a conflict that could possibly bring the world to a brink of annihilation? How could I guess that the cargo we were going to guard would be one of the dangerous weapons of mass destruction could possibly topple a planet and that we will be trapped in a web of conspiracy that would force us into many dangerous situations where we have to be in the middle of a battle between corporations who wants to get the weapon for themselves? If I have known better then I would take the job of guarding a warehouse with him instead!
