24 General's Son

The servants felt rejuvenated as they saw the distance and realized that their long journey was finally coming to an end. It didn't take them very long before they were just out of the town.

As soon as they were about to enter the town, some guards stopped Adam as they gave out an order, "Hey! Who are you!? Why are you entering the town through a horse!?" The guard had an arrogant expression as he glanced at Adam and Liliana.

Another guard near him also spoke in a loud voice, "Don't you know the rule that travellers have to leave the horse out of the town!? You can't just go in the town with a horse!? Only the soldiers are given this privilege."

There was another guard near them as he spoke out, "This girl has dressed up in maid uniform, it seems as if they are servants to a young master of a clan. Let's wait for him to arrive here."

Adam frowned as he heard the words of the guards, he was in no mood of this as he clearly ordered them, "Stop this! I am not in any mood of this. I am prince Alex Vermillion, the third prince of the Versailles Empire. And I am the new Lord who shall manage this town so get aside."

The guard snorted as he heard those words, "Yeah right, you said you are a prince and we should believe you. Are you an idiot? If you are a prince, why is a maid riding together with you? No matter how you see it, you are scammer."

Adam's face remained in a frowning type as he realized that there was no point in arguing with these burly men, they needed proofs and he brought out a pendent from his pockets, "Listen well, this is the pendent which proves my identity as a prince."

He also pulled out the letter which had the king's letter to transfer the ownership of Lervick City to Alex Vermillion and also had the seal of the King. There was no soldier who wouldn't recognize this seal…

And that was the same for the guards, they saluted him with cold sweat on their necks as soon as they glanced at the pendent and the letter, they couldn't doubt the authenticity of those items.

Besides the guards, there was another one who didn't look at him with a respectful gaze, no, instead he was staring at someone, at Liliana. He was looking up and down as if trying to burn the image of her body in his mind…

He didn't think before asking Adam, "Young prince, I am the son of the general of this town, I know you are going to manage this town from today but still, a general has quite an influence. If you don't have his support then it would be hard for you to rule this place."

Adam glanced at the boy, he was of similar age to himself and could detect his filthy eyes looking at Liliana. This alone was enough for him to gouge out his eyes and destroy them but he endured.

Adam used a clear and flat tone to ask him, "So, what do you want to say? That the general will create obstacles for me?" To this, the boy shook his head quickly and said, "No-no, how would my father dare such insubordination?"

His words were completely different to how his facial expression suddenly twisted and he smiled, "But it would be easier for you if you were to have his complete support. I can guarantee that my father completely supports you…"

Adam used a fake smile and asked him in a mocking tone, "And pray tell what would make you collaborate with me?" The boy was in his own little fantasy world and didn't detect the mocking tone.

He licked his lips and said in a husky manner, "If you give me this maid then I can ask my father to give you his complete support." He flatly spoke out about his requirement and expected Adam to follow through as he neared their horse with the excitement to hold Liliana.

Liliana was confused as to what she should do but she clearly didn't like the gaze through which she was being looked at by this guy. She tried to find some comfort in Adam's strong and protective arms.

At this time, Adam's emotions erupted, he suddenly started laughing loudly as if he had gone crazy, he was laughing so much that he had some tears in his eyes as he said, "I need to collaborate with you to control this town… HAHAHAHA…. Wow…"

He looked around and spoke out in a loud voice, "Can you hear him? He thinks that I need his cooperation to rule this town… HAHAHAHA... "

The boy was baffled at his behaviour and asked him, "Why are you laughing like you heard a joke? Don't you realize my importance in this town?"

Adam's face suddenly switched to a serious expression which made the people puzzled on how his expression could change so suddenly and he thought, 'Now, you've done it…' and then he said, "Do you know, you made two mistakes just now?"

He started to list out those mistakes and added, "The first was using my own town as a bargaining chip against me which made me question your mental strength." His eyes suddenly turned cold, a noble aura emitted from his body as he worded it out, "You wanted to have Liliana."

He suddenly turned towards the guards who had opened the door for him, "Congratulations to you, you have your first job from me. Cut off his tongue!" Hearing that order, the guards were astonished as they didn't think that the new Town Lord would give such an order.

They tried to appease him by saying, "Please calm down Town Lord, he is the son of the general. He isn't wrong in saying that it would be difficult for you to rule here."

Adam closed his eyes for a moment as he stared into the eyes of that guard, "Tell me, what is the job of a soldier?"

The guard immediately replied, "A soldier's job is to obey orders!" Adam spoke ahead, "Then why are you not obeying it. This is an order! I want you to cut off his tongue now!"

The guard's eyes widened as they didn't think that he would say something like this, they turned towards the boy with an apologetic expression.

"We apologise Young Lord Turan, but about superior orders, we cannot go against them." One of the guards spoke as he pulled out a knife. Turan stepped back as he shouted, "STOP! Don't come near me. My father will put you all to death! Don't you dare come near me."

But one of them quickly grabbed his hands, the second one held his mouth and kept it completely open, while the third one put his hand in his mouth and pulled out the tongue and cut it off.

Turan started to scream loudly as he couldn't handle this pain, "AHHHHHHHHH….." He never imagined that his few words would make him pay such a price, but it didn't seem as if Adam was done, "Good, now remove one of his eyes."

Hearing this order made them nearly puke, the guards thought that cutting off the tongue was enough punishment but pulling out an eye was just too ruthless no matter how they saw it.

"Why are you slacking off? Obey the order!" Adam ordered them again as he saw them not moving, the guards turned towards Turan and spoke out, "We apologise in advance."
